Top Traveller Review

About the Owner

I was born and bred in Boscastle, I have lived here most of my life except for various elongated travel trips throughout the world. But for me Cornwall beats anywhere else! It's beaches and sunsets win over any I have seen across the globe. I especially enjoy swimming in the sea, cycling and walking along the cliffs. I love taking picnics on the cliffs and generally absorbing myself in the area. There is so much to do in Cornwall, there are live bands at the Eden project, sea kayaking at Port Isaac, open-air theatre at the Minack and an ever increasing number of quality places to eat at. As a foodie I am always in search for consistently good places to dine as well as sources of meat, fish and vegetables, oh and of course drink!

Guestbook comments from the owner

"A lovely place to stay, very peaceful and beautiful. Loved the scenery and weather! Will definitely come again. We were made to feel very welcome. Thank you very much." Pete, Trace and Sophie -West Midlands.

"Hideaway is a lovely retreat and just the peaceful haven we were looking for. The cream tea on arrival was a nice touch and very welcome as we arrived late evening. The apartment is well located to explore all the wonderful beaches and villages Cornwall has to offer. We managed to fill our week! Chris is just disappointed he couldn't fit in more trips to the Napoleon Inn. We'd recommend the Camel Trial. Hope to return some day." The Walters Family-Stourbridge.

"Delightful cabin, magnificent views of the sea below. Would definately come again and recommend to others" Marion & Gill Stanley

Secluded Cabin and a peaceful stay

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our half term stay at The Hideaway. It sits in its own garden and is overlooked by nobody with views to The Atlantic and cliff tops in the distance. The Hideaway was warm with an efficient heating system and fully equipped kitchen.

We will happily revisit, and recommend The Hideaway to anyone who wants a good base to explore Cornwall. The owners description of the property is very accurate. Great value too

Return to a Little Cornish Jewel

  • 5 of 5

Four months have passed since our first visit to Hideaway back in June when we enjoyed a marvellous stay in this little jewel. The weather was beautiful, as was the cabin and surroundings, and we left with heavy hearts. We returned in October and have to report that everything was just as good as before. Firstly, I know what you're thinking....is a pine cabin warm in cold weather?....well absolutely it is, to the extent that we had to turn some of the heaters off as we were overheating. There is always plenty of hot water for the power shower, and everything is spotless. The local wildlife is still about, apart from the next door sheep who seem to have moved despite our sad bleeting over the fence, though the birds still sing their hearts out at dusk. Seriously though, there is nothing better than a good meal in the lounge/kitchen area followed by a drink outside on the decking with a couple of warm rugs and a packet of biscuits, the latter supplied by the generous hostess. You might have guessed that we will be returning, armed with a bottle of something, some rugs, maybe a candle or two, but definitely no mint sauce (just in case the sheep have returned)

A perfect little place overlooking Boscastle.

Really enjoyed our stay here, the only thing we could fault was that 3 nights was not long enough, we should have stayed longer. Thank you, we loved our stay.

Pretty cabin, lovely garden, good views

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed staying here, the cabin was comfortable, and it was really nice to sit in the garden which is not over looked by anyone, but we had good long distance views.

Location

From the Owner

It's actually behind the house my Gran lived in when I was young. I used to make pasties on a Friday and camp on the lawn in a tent during summer and listen to the rooks nesting in the trees on balmy nights. This was once a vegetable plot. So I was pleased as punch at the opportunity to take this property on and 'keep it local' -as they say! I am quite an active person and enjoy the benefits of the countryside, moorland and seaside, I love cycling too. There are so many fantastic spots in North Cornwall, stunning vistas and a great local atmosphere to boot.
