About the property

Cottage in Muchelney Ham, near Langport, Somerset, England, UK - Peaceful Location in Unspoilt Countryside

Cider cottage is situated in the heart of the Somerset Levels. Part of the 17th century Muchelney Ham Farm the cottage, which sleeps five people, is self contained and an ideal escape from the fast-paced modern world. This historic area close to the ruins of Muchelney Abbey offers great opportunities for walkers, birdwatchers, cyclists and fishermen and the cottage, whilst furnished to a high standard, offers the peace of times long gone. The garden from the cottage stretches down to a stream with local wildlife including deer, heron and swans. In the summer it is an ideal spot to enjoy a picnic or a cool glass of wine. The cottage is warm and cosy in the winter and is particularly popular around Christmas time providing the ideal setting for an old-fashioned family get together. Those who wish to use the cottage as a base to tour this very beautiful part of England will find it very convenient for both the North and South coasts and for Exmoor.

About Sarah Woodborne

The farm has been in the same family for three generations. There are cows and calves, and a small flock of rare Herdwick sheep which are a particularly hardy and attractive breed originating from the Lake District. We love living in this ancient and very rural part of Somerset. There are excellent pub restaurants locally and the area is ideal for walkers and bird watchers, cyclists and fishermen. There are also several very interesting open gardens and houses close by.

just magical charming country cottage

  • 4 of 5

A wonderfully warm cosy cottage which was very well equipped. we enjoyed a fantastic family roast at the lovely big wooden table. The bedrooms were charming and the beds very comfortable. The garden was lovely and the children loved the sheep and cows. The surrounding country side was just perfect for walks from the cottage. It was like a home away from home. We look forward to staying here again. Both Sarah and her father were most helpful thank you.

Lovely relaxing time

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 6 weeks between a house sale/purchase. The location is really beautiful with the most stunning countryside all around. Peace and relaxation in spades. The accommodation has everything you need and has a very homely feel about it. The garden is gorgeous, our boys loved playing with the sheep. Jim and Sarah are lovely people who were always on hand if we needed them.

Traditional Cosy Well Kept Cottage

  • 5 of 5

This holiday cottage had a very warm & welcoming feel to it.

It was very clean and well equiped with everything you need for a self catering holiday.

The gardens were just amazing as was the surrounding countryside.

The owner Jim and his family were very friendly and did everything to ensure we were happy with our stay.

There is loads to do in the surrounding area.

Get away from it all

An idyllic rural setting on the Somerset Levels. The perfect base for exploring the West Country. A comfortable cottage set in a typical English garden complete with stream and the occasional visiting lamb. Particularly pleasant and comfortable bedrooms, with sheets and towels provided and it has great bathrooms. Living space has everything you need with wifi access. Pretty cottage in a charming setting. The owner was very helpful. Recommended for a rural getaway and total peace and quiet. Good location in the West Country for sightseeing.
