Outstanding visit

I arrived a little late but the villa was in impeccable condition. It is in a delightful setting with a golf course and village The staff checked on me to see if all was ok which it was.

Thoroughly recommended and surrounding beaches WOW. I would like to add that everything was very professional and I was well taken care of

Stay elsewhere

Sadly this property has been allowed to go to seed. There is a serious damp problem in the upper bedroom with black mould on the ceiling and on the walls, especially under the window. Upon arrival the kitchen appliances were dirty - they had food and mould from previous visits - though the housekeeper did visit promptly to address this when notified. A toilet cistern did not flush and the DVD player could not work though maintenance resolved these swiftly. Generally, the property was not very clean upon arrival.

The estate is "somewhat incomplete" and appears barely occupied. There is little to do on the site, though one swimming pool is accessible it is freezing cold even though it is meant to be heated.

If the damp problem was sorted and the cleanliness issue dealt with it would be quite a nice place - provided you are willing to drive each time you want something to do. For the price, I think you can do better.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Firstly, let us have the opportunity of addressing each and every point you have made on your review. With regard to the kitchen items. Our team visited within 15 minutes of you bringing this to our attention and recleaned the items. We absolutely refrute your comments that the property was not clean. Your comments about the property "going to seed" could not be further from the truth. The property is very well maintained throughout and we have guests return year after year. The issue with the toilet flush was resolved within minutes of you calling, this can happen at any time in a rental house or indeed your own home. The DVD player was resolved as soon as you raised the issue with us. You did not advise us of any damp problem during your stay and we categorically dispute that the house has a damp problem. Nevertheless, if you did feel there was a serious issue all you had to do was call us and we would have sent someone without delay to help. With regard to the "cold shared pool" The pool is infact heated but as you visited in March and the outside weather conditions were rainy and cold obviously this had a detrimental effect on the water temperature. The estate you mentioned being incomplete we are quite perplexed at, it has been lived in for over 10 years and has year round residents as well as holiday makers. You visited in March which is low season, but there were many properties occupied throughout the development. We do not advertise any facilities on the development. We also make it categorically clear that you need a car to get around. Hence why the property is listed as "Car necessary" on our advert. Your review is all the more disappointing given that the property was booked just days before your arrival date. We literally pulled out all the stops to accommodate you including reserving the house before payment had arrived. We are saddened that you chose to post a negative review without giving us any opportunity to put things right. The queries you chose to raise with us during your stay were dealt with swiftly and professionally. At no point did you indicate you were unhappy with the property.

Perfect stay!!

The house was comfortable and well appointed. This house is perfect for a family holiday ,close enough to the beaches and main highways but also a peaceful and restful place to just hang out and enjoy.

Villa 81

We had an excellent 2 week stay in this terraced villa. The property was ideal for 5 of us, especially as we enjoyed spending our time on the beach in Sagres.

The Resort felt quiet at that time, but every issue we had was dealt with superby by Victoria & her team.

Amazing place

My family and I spent a superb vacation at Quinta da Encosta Velha. We started with 7 days and liked it so much that we changed our holidays plans in Portugal and extended for 8 more! Certainly we were very lucky we could do so... Thanks Vicky!

This is a wonderful house with all the modern amenities, in a beautiful location. The views from the roof terrace are stunning- especially early in the morning or late at sunset!

Everything worked just perfect for us, including the surrounding Parque da Floresta resort where we enjoyed the beautiful swimming pools and our son could play football and tennis, the proximity of the house to Salema and Figueira and the lovely remote town of Sagres. Try not to miss a visit to Luz to the east and certainly not the wild and unspoilt beaches on the Costa Vicentina to the west.

It was our first vacation in the south Portugal, but will certainly return. Wonderful places, wonderful people and so great that we could experience all of these having the comfort of an accomodation that felt like home.

Fabulous surfing beaches within a 15 minute drive.


Faro is the nearest airport, and approximately a 1 hour drive. The distance is 100kms.

Lisbon Airport is approximately 2 and a half hours drive and around 312kms.

Seville Airport is approximately 2 and a half hours drive and around 310km.


With its maze of cobbled streets bustling with pavement restaurants, and busy cafe bars, Lagos is a vibrant centre full of life, and only 16kms away. This is also a town of culture and history that dates back to Roman times.

Right out to the west is the port of Sagres and spectacular headland of Cape St Vincent, the most south-westerly point in continental Europe. Just a 10 minute drive.
