About Susie Fugle

My Grandmother moved into the house in 1927, my father was born here and we enjoyed many family holidays here. It was a magical place to visit as a child, cooking in the inglenook fireplace, the cold water tap outside the back door (still there) and loo at the bottom of the garden (not there). Very different to city life. I remember we hired a black and white tv to watch the 1966 World Cup Final. Good investment it turned out!

The surrounding beaches and countryside are beautiful and

A short drive takes you to the Teifi Estuary and beaches Poppit Sands, Mwnt, Penbryn, Tresaith, Llangranogg, Aberporth & Newport Sands.

Also walking along the Ceredigion & Pembrokeshire Coastal Paths

and an 18 hole golf course in Gwbert.

You can of course, just take it easy and enjoy the large back garden and look out at the River Teifi and watch the boats, canoes and birds go by.

Susie Fugle purchased this house in 1927

Why Susie Fugle chose Fishguard, Newport, The Preseli Hills & Bluestone

The house is in a peaceful location tucked away in between St Mary's Church and the River Teifi in the oldest part of Cardigan. It has an old cottage feel with thick stone walls and wooden beams and a modern extension added a few years ago.

Also very handy for longer day trips into Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion.

What makes this house unique

The surrounding countryside and beaches, Poppit Sands, Tresaith, Llangranogg, Penbryn and Mwnt are within a few miles offering much to do.

Within walking or cycling distance from the house is the Welsh Wildlife Centre within the Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve, Cilgerran Castle, Cardigan Castle and Theatre Mwldan for movies and live performances.

Also a short walk uptown for shops, cafes and restaurants.

Up the road in St Dogmaels on Tuesdays is the

BBC Food & Farming Award 2016 Winners:

St Dogmaels Local Producers Market.

Also close by Glebelands Market Garden for home grown fresh produce.

Pembrokeshire Fish Week: 23rd June to 1st July

New Quay Music Festival: 3/5th August

Cardigan River & Food Festival: 11/12th August

Ceredigion Walking Festival in September

Quiet hideaway close to lovely coastline

  • 5 of 5

We were 4 adults plus infant. Lots of space for a family holiday, all the rooms were comfortable with contemporary decoration. Very little noise from the town yet shops were just 2 minutes walk away. Behind the house is an enclosed garden (toddler safe) and beyond that a small car park and green space by the river...lovely for a stroll to see ducks, waders and grebe. Cut through church and cross river to reach nature reserve with waders, kingfishers and much more. We had a restful time in and around the house, and had easy access to Mwnt, Poppit and Newport beaches. A wonderful break.

Owner's Response: So glad you had a wonderful break and enjoyed the nature reserve. I'd like to add there is an excellent Wildlife Centre also with ongoing events for adults and children and a very good cafe, reasonably priced. You can also hire canoes and enjoy the gorge and wildlife on the river.

Gelungener Aufenthalt in hübschen Haus

  • 4 of 5

Owner's Response: Translation from German A small cozy house with a quiet garden. The landlady was super nice. She gave us tips for nice trips - the Mwnt beach is fantastic - and often inquired if everything was in order. On site is also a nice contact person. Cardigan is a nice little place with nice shops and good restaurants. We have many excursions in also in other places undertaken. Tenby was also beautiful. After a week the linens were changed and a "small" house cleaning done. Only small drawback were the mattresses in the lower bedroom, they should / could be renewed. Otherwise, everything was tastefully and cleanly furnished.
