About The Owner

My name is Dee and live in the UK. I bought this property 15 years ago and fell in love with the beautiful tranquility of the area of Normandy. Wonderful for the children to run free in the countryside and beautiful walks all around the house. The people in the area are so friendly and genuine and are they are always there to help out.

The Owner purchased this farmhouse in 2002

Guestbook comments from the owner

We were looking for a property to stay as for our extended family and use as a base for exploring the Normandy Landing and beaches. We found this property which looked perfect and didn't disappoint. The property is well equipped. Its seems as though it is a real home rather than set up as a holiday let. The property is very simple and this is much of its charm. We explored the local area including Percy and had a fabulous meal in Domjean. I would definitely recommend this property if you are looking to relax and unwind in a very un-British way.

Charming but Rustic

  • 3 of 5

The cottage is pleasant; the play area is not as big as the pictures lead you to believe, or as well kept, the grass was quite long, although the cows at the side of the house made up for this for the children! The driveway. Is gravelled in the photo but grass has grown over through time, in reality. One of the rooms only has a fold out double bed rather than a proper double and it squeaks every time the occupant breathes. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking but could use a draining board for washing up odd plates. The recycling is different to the UK, and the nearest centre we found is at the church in Percy. It took us a while to find the hot water switch as it was hidden behind the tank. Rather than having to decide when to turn it on and off, a timer programme would be useful. The cottage has huge potential, but wasn't to the standard we were expecting or had stayed at the in the week before; there are unfinished rooms that you can see in the photos but you don't realise that they are unusable. Brehal beach is well worth a visit, about a 30 min drive, as is Bayeux for the tapestry, cathedral, war cemetery, D-day museum and nearby landing beaches.
