Attractive Apartment In The Square Of Port Grimaud with beautiful marina views

Overview

Property

Updated: 02-Nov-2016
Apartment in Port Grimaud, Var, St. Tropez Area, Cote D'Azur, France - Overlooking The Beautiful Marina, Close To Restaurants And Beach

Attractive two bedroom, two bathroom apartment situated on the first floor overlooking the buzzing square of Port Grimaud Sud. There is lift and stair access and the Square has its own security control and only the residents can access it by car. The south facing balcony overlooks the waterfront where you can sit for many an hour watching the boating activities and the second balcony overlooks the restaurants, boule area and lively patisserie. The Square has a choice of three restaurants and a tabac and below the apartment there is a patisserie selling all sorts of delicious delicacies. In the summer months the 'Coche d'Eau' (water taxi) stops at this area and is a free service to residents, calling at the main Port Grimaud Square, the harbour entrance and the beaches, a great way to see the marina. A ferry runs from the main harbour hourly to St Tropez a great way to visit without the car. It is well situated to walk to the local market, shops, bank and beaches.

About the Owner

We first visited this area on a family holiday over 25 years ago and then returned again 10 years later. What impressed us was the fact it was still a beautiful part of France and unspoilt. We fell in love with Port Grimaud, the stylish architecture and the wonderful central position for the neighbouring towns and villages and all the local amenities. We purchased the apartment in March 2002 and have never looked back. The situation of the apartment gives many dimensions to the property. The beaches within walking distance, the local market, shops, restaurants and patisseries or you can just sit on the balcony with a glass of wine and watch the boat life or the buzz of life coming from the nearby restaurants. We think it has something to offer for everyone.

Guestbook comments from the owner

'We have enjoyed both out visits to this apartment in Port Grimaud. It is situated in an excellent spot overlooking the marina from the balcony and the front aspect viewing the restaurants. It is spacious and has good cooking facilities and two bedrooms plus spacious living accommodation. We loved the water taxi that travelled regularly between the different points at the Port and to the beach and the harbour entrance where the small ferry boats goes to St. Tropez. We will definitely visit again the near future' Mr and Mrs Spar, Derbyshire. 2009

'We arrived late in the evening and greeted in the morning firstly by the waft of freshly baked croissants from the Patisserie downstairs(thoroughly recommended) and then we opened the shutters and met by the wonderful view of Port Grimaud. We couldn't wait to start exploring.

Apartment itself - all the usual conveniences of home, great for alfresco dining.

The important question-would we consider returning-absolutely! Mayhew Family 09.

Fantastic Base

  • 5 of 5

We have been to this area for a number of years stopping in our caravan but after getting rid of the caravan and holidaying in the UK we found ourselves missing France.

Found the apartment and from the start communication with Diane was spot on and booking was easy and straightforward.

We arrived at the Apartment and had no idea how big Sud Grimaud was after only previously venturing as far as the centre of Port Grimaud.

We were amazed at the views from the balcony of the apartment and spent every morning having our breakfast on the balcony, having the Boulangerie underneath was so handy and too tempting. Croissants for breakfast, baguettes to take to the beach and for a treat the Strawberry tarts are to die for.

The apartment was equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The beds were comfy, the air conditioning was a godsend and the bathrooms were lovely, no problem with hot water despite having two people showering at the same time.

The washing machine played up whilst we were there but Diane sorted it straight away and within two days there was a new one fitted.

The square comes alive at night and we had a meal at La Caravelle which is recommended.

We walked to the beach the first couple of days but then opted for the water taxi which took us straight there a much more luxurious way to travel especially in the heat.

Lovely short walk to Port Grimaud where you can boat spot on the way and dream about owning one !.

A visit on the petit train to old Grimaud is recommended and a trip on the ferry to St Tropez a must.

Would have no hesitation about returning to the apartment again.

Many thanks for a superb base in a fantastic area.

AN IDEAL PLACE TO RELAX

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week in Port Grimaud it lived up to our expectations, everybody was so friendly and you felt very safe. The apartment was very clean and was equipped with everything you could need for your holiday. Beds were very comfy enabling a good night's sleep and waking up to the smell of fresh bread from the boulangerie below, ideal for breakfast!

We downed many glasses of wine on the balcony which still had the sun in the evening, it was so peaceful. Breakfast was taken overlooking the square which got the sun throughout the morning. Diane provided us with passes for the water taxis which we used many times, especially as the men love boats and there is certainly not a shortage here. They even had to take a catamaran out from the beach.

We had a lovely meal at the old hilltop village of Grimaud which is certainly worth a visit. We usually finished our evening with a coffee and cognac at the bar/restaurant which was also the boulangerie below the apartment.

We would not hesitate to recommend No 15 to anyone, and hope to return. BUT we would drive there next time as we got caught in the French air traffic strike!

A week in beautiful Port Grimaud

  • 4 of 5

We have just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks in Provence, traveling along the coast from Nice to Aix en Provence, with the middle week spent in beautiful Port Grimaud.

Our apartment was just as described...clean, comfortable, well maintained and equipped with everything you would need for your holiday.

Arriving at the end of the season, we found that the local water taxi had stopped running, but this wasn't a problem....it was an easy 5-10 minute stroll in one direction to the beach with glorious views across the bay to St Tropez and St Maxime, and a 10-15 minute stroll in the other direction to the bustling Place du Marche, with its many interesting little shops, cafes, and waterside restaurants, the busy Sunday morning market, and the water taxi across the bay to St Tropez....a much better idea than driving along the busy road and trying to park.

We loved exploring some of the nearby hilltop villages, our favorites being Grimaud and Gassin, where we enjoyed an amazing Sunday lunch at one of the restaurants on the terrace, overlooking the beautiful bay down below us. What a wonderful way to celebrate a special birthday!

The best thing about our time spent in Port Grimaud? Sitting on the balcony with a glass of Côte de Provence Rose in my hand, watching the sun go down!

Just what the doctor ordered,.

  • 4 of 5

Following a hectic 2 weeks touring in Provence our party of 4 seniors were looking forward to a relaxing week in Port Grimaud; we certainly weren't disappointed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this charming apartment and just loved everything about it, including all the facilities provided and its idyllic location. Several evenings were spent having a relaxing drink on the balcony, overlooking the many splendid boats in the moorings as the sun went down.

As well as a boat trip over to St. Tropez for a day the drive up to the old hilltop village of Grimaud for their Thursday market was a highlight of the week. It is one of the oldest villages in the Massif des Maures. With its castle, churches, municipal museum and numerous arts and craft shops and several lovely cafes we enjoyed a leisurely day their whilst taking in the panoramic views of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and wandering around the leafy squares.

The “Anchoïade” in the square below the apartment on the Thursday night was an added bonus and we were made to feel very much at home by the locals.

We just wished that we had booked a longer stay as 6 days just didn’t give us time to take in all that was on offer in the area. Hopefully we may return another year.

Please amend

  • 5 of 5

When we completed the review which you have since published we could not fin a way to change the rating. We intend 5/5 not the 1/5 which you have printed.

Please amend this as 1 out of 5 is an insult.

I look forward to seeing this revised very soon.

Thank you

Location

From the Owner

There were many reasons for buying this property. We loved the idea of having all the facilities closeby so if necessary we do not have to get in our car and travel anywhere. The surrounding area has lots to offer sightseeing wise or sport facilities. There is a tennis court five minutes walk away. Great local cycle tracks with cycle hire available locally it is a great way to explore and exercise. The beaches are clean with good restaurant and sunbed facilities. The range and size of the boats never fails to amaze us there is always something new to see. The port can be viewed by rental small electric boats or sightseeing water taxis. In the main summer months the water taxi runs from the local jetty taking you to the harbour entrance where you can catch the ferry to St. Tropez.

Facilities

From the Owner

One big advantage of the location of the apartment is the two balconies facing different directions. One with the aspect of the marina and boats and the other viewing the Square with restaurants and patissiere. This also works with the sun, it means you can sit and have breakfast in the sun overlooking the Square and then the water balcony has the afternoon sun, or if you prefer you can choose either one for the shade. With the security gate only allowing residents' cars into the area you find this area is not as busy as the main Port Grimaud Square. We find once we arrive and relax we do not need to get into our car for days if we so wish. The patissiere below stocks quite a range of food and drink items. There is a lift which is useful when you arrive with luggage but also stairs.
