About Sarah Tremayne

Bird's Nest is a locally managed traditional fishermans's cottage which has undergone a total refurbishment to bring it to the very high standard that it is in today. Its very cozy and luxuriously furnished, with a great deal of thought going into every detail to make it home from home. Everything is colour co-ordinated and of the highest quality. Once at Bird's Nest you will not want for anything. Its a truly romantic getaway and we are sure you will have the perfect holiday.

Sarah Tremayne purchased this cottage in 2008

Why Sarah Tremayne chose Looe

A whole year was spent lovingly renovating the cottage and modernising it to a high standard. Everything you could possibly want has been thought of. The cottage is very romantic and is ideal for a couple who want to get away from it all. The local area is superb and has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Bird's Nest is nestled in a quiet pretty cobbled street, with the beach and quay seconds away, as are the many restaurants, cafes and shops. But if you want to explore Cornwall and its attractions, Looe is an ideal base.

What makes this cottage unique

This traditional Cornish cottage is laid out over three floors and gives a flavour of a bygone era. We have just finished completely refurbishing this property for the season, so everything is new and clean in this beautiful cottage. Please be aware that the stairs can, for some, be a little steep and a possible struggle for more elderly and less mobile travellers.

Seconds from everywhere in Looe, the harbour, beach, restaurants, bars, coffee shops and shops. A quaint, cottage with everything you need, even an ice making machine! The best car parking, after you,ve dropped off your luggage, is across the bridge and cost us £14 for 5 days. Only a ten minute walk to the cottage. Out of the door, left for beach, right for town. Highly recommend Ancient Mariner and Old sail loft restaurants and the Black swan for Gin/drinks. Pollpero is only a 10 minute drive and has some lovely restaurants, bars and Views. Three pilchards is a must. Fowey is also a short journey away with views of the river, loads of bars and restaurants. I would highly recommend Sam's. The cottage is comfortable although the stairs can be a challenge( kitchen, stairs, lounge, stairs, bedroom. We very quickly got used to it. We would highly recommend this property to couples looking for a romantic getaway. If staying for some time bring extra towels. We will definitely be back.

Perfect getaway for two - great location in a wonderful town

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage - well equipped and clean - located in the heart of East Looe's old town. Position couldn't have been better - just yards from the beach and close to some super cafe's and restaurants. We loved Daisy's and the Pier Cafe (both serve great breakfasts), and were spoiled for choice with restaurants - Trawlers, The Smuggler Cott, Pepe's, The Old Sail Loft, The Ancient Mariner - all great quality (on a par with Padstow) and reasonably priced.

Thanks to Paul for a smooth booking experience and joining instructions as well as guidance on parking (no problem in finding space in the Millpool carpark) and we were able to park within a few yards of the house to unload and load.

No hesitation in recommending and thanks for a super holiday, We'll be back!

Small but cosy. Very clean.

Stairs were a bit of a problem being elderly. Very steep and narrow steps with an inadequate handrail

Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

Overall it was good but and it is a big but, the house was extremely dirty

I dropped a contact lens on the bathroom floor and I was amazed at the filth on the floor

This lead me to run my fingers over other surfaces including the stairs and from that moment onwards it spoilt our enjoyment of the house because every surface was thick dust which takes months to build up

Owner's Response: Hi Brian, thanks for your comments and sorry that cleanliness on this occasion didn't meet with your expections. It's a shame that you didn't bring this to our attending during your stay (a month later and its difficult for us to put things right). I've raised the issue with our cleaning team and it appears that this was a one off as confirmed by subsequent guest reviews. We hope you enjoyed Looe and all it has to offer and hope you'll return. Kindest regards, Paul King
