Overview

Description

Seashell villa

The property is a 3-story townhouse villa. The ensuite bedrooms are on two separate levels. The master bedroom is at the “penthouse” and is the entire third level with a seafront facing verandah reached through two sets of french doors, with the other two bedrooms on the middle level also with seafront verandahs.

Included is a very large outside patio, plunge pool, and a gate with stairs that take you directly to the sand and sea; and with a short, lovely beach walk you arrive at Sandy Lane. Three french doors open to the large covered patio with several seating areas along with a dining table for six, offering outside living even when there are rain showers (they happen, of course). Another umbrella-shaded table by the seaside gate presents evening views of beautiful sunsets. There are several lounges for sunbathing during the day.

About the property

CB454

Seashells is located on beautiful Paynes Bay Beach south of the world famous Sandy Lane hotel and very close to the Tamarind Hotel. Built in 2000, Seashells has been constantly refurnished and upgraded including a new outside living/dining area completed in April 2010. All rooms including the bedrooms come with fabulous sea views which is rare on the West Coast of Barbados. There are 3 places to dine a plunge pool to cool off and a barbecue area. There is satellite TV and WiFi connection; the house is very popular and guests return time and time again. Three of the best restaurants on the west coast are within easy walking distance and buses stop nearby to Holetown and Bridgetown. Water sports are available at the nearby Tamarind hotel and fresh fish can be purchased at nearby fish market. All photos were taken from the property.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: A full time housekeeper is provided 5.5 days a week. Seashells is very spacious with lots of different areas to relax. The outside covered area is a wonderful, private hide away from the sun while still being outside. There are 3 different dining areas depending on your mood, a modern kitchen and a BBQ grill. There is also an outside plunge pool. The property is one of 6 luxury homes built in 2000 and constantly upgraded, the owners share a full time gardener who keeps the outside area clean and tidy. There is shared night time security service from 6pm-6am. Outside: Barbados is all about outside ocean front living and Seashells certainly complies. You can relax, read, sunbathe etc. only feet away from the blue Caribbean. Turtles are often seen in the water and nest on the beach by us, there is also good snorkeling in front of the property.

Paradise at Seashells

  • 5 of 5

What a find! We fist came to stay at Seashells three years ago with the family and have returned each year just the two of us. My husband says he won’t stay anywhere else in Barbados! The villa is beautiful, spacious, spotless, very tastefully decorated and the location is stunning. All the bedrooms have wonderful views of the sea and drawing back the curtains in a morning, lying in bed listening to the sound of the waves crashing onto the beach is just bliss. The outside area is very pretty with lots of comfy settees and tables and chairs. We loved watching the sunset whilst sipping our cocktails! There is a plunge pool and barbecue and having the fish market right next door, we barbequed tuna, sword fish and Mahi Mahi for lunch. It is only a few steps down from the patio to the beach for a stroll to Sandy Lane and a swim in the beautiful warm turquoise sea. The villa is also perfectly situated for some of the island’s top restaurants. Daphne’s, Scarlet, The Cliff and The Cliff Beach Club are all within walking distance. Tides, Lone Star and Cin Cin are just a short yellow bus ride away. (The yellow bus ride is an experience not to be missed!). We hired a car and visited St, Nicholas Abbey, Bathsheba, George Washington’s House and The Flower Caves. We would just like to say a huge thank you Claire and David for allowing us to share your beautiful home in Barbados. We love it so much we have already booked for next year!

Another wonderful holiday at Sea Shells Villa

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much once again David and Claire for allowing us to stay in your beautiful villa. This was our second visit to Sea shells and we had another wonderful time, the villa was perfect and it was so nice to see David and Althea again who looked after us very well.

We managed to visit St Nicholas abbey this time which was great day out very interesting definitely worth a visit and we managed to explore more of the island but it was lovely to return back home to the fabulous setting of Sea Shells which we hope to return to very soon.

many thanks

Just wonderful - for us the perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed here twice so far and we will certainly stay again. The property is wonderful, the open plan ground floor flows into the outside area and the beach. The bedrooms are wonderful, especially the huge master suite, with wonderful views of the beach and sea. The location is perfect for us, walk to superb top end restaurants and local eating places, the fish market, the local bus to hop into Holetown or Speightstown for other eating delights. Some may find the road off putting, but for us it is a plus. We simply love the place and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else on this great island.

Stunning villa

  • 5 of 5

Seashells is a lovely villa in a stunning location. Situated on Paynes Bay on a beautiful beach we loved being able to walk right along the beach to Sandy Lane each morning. There is a reef directly in front of the villa so you just need to walk approx 200 m to the right if you want to swim.

Two of the island's top restaurants - The Cliff and Daphnes are within walking distance. We enjoyed going to Daphnes for happy hour at 5pm for a great rum punch to watch the sun set.

Other restaurants we would recommend are Tides, Lone Star and The Fish Pot. Jumas at Speightstown is also worth a visit and they provide complimentary transport

The villa is very clean and well appointed. Altea the maid is efficient and David the security guard is very good.

The villa is situated on a main road and next to a fish market. There is noise but it did not bother us. There is also a lot of natural noise - the waves crashing against the beach and the local birds. All fabulous!

We had a lovely week at Seashells and we hope to return.

Our Home Away From Home.

  • 5 of 5

This has been our third stay in Seashells, and it looked even more beautiful than the last time - if that is possible. Some lovely decor touches inside and out, Claire and David have such exquisite taste as well as being wonderful people to deal with. It's like our second home away from home. We love the location because it is easy to get to all the places we want to go without much thought. We absolutely love that it is right on the beach and we walk every morning from Payne's Bay as far as Sandy Lane beach when it is possible depending on the tides. The restaurants here in Barbados are world class. To name a few - Tides, The Cliff, Scarlett, Daphne's, The Lone Star, Cin CIn. All fabulous. We went to El Tiempo for the first time for lunch - only authentic Italian food on the Island - it was Pavarotti's favourite place to be when he visited here many years ago. I think I would like to go there at night because I think it would be more romantic at night. The food was excellent. We also went to another new place up in Speightstown to a place called Jumas for breakfast - it was was very homey and breakfast was served on the deck overlooking the beach which was gorgeous of course with the turquoise water glistening alongside the white sandy beach. The food was delicious. I would recommend it - so give it a try. There is also a bakery across the street with delicious coconut turnovers and many different breads and tarts - very reasonably priced. We did a lot of our own cooking at the villa as it is very well equipped with gadgets, dishes small appliances and always something in the cupboard such as condiments - spices - vinegars etc. We usually end up leaving stuff so the next person can avail of it. There is also a lovely barbecue outside - and a plunge pool if you get overheated. The bed is very comfortable with lovely cotton sheets, lots of lovely towels in the bathroom, and beach towels also. The entrance and gardens on the property are beautiful and there are a couple of coconut trees by the beach gate which are a part of our natural Barbados orchestra here (waves crashing, trees rustling and insects singing) so beautiful. Althea is our House Keeper and she is perfect, she comes in the morning - does a very thorough cleaning and always has a smile - what more could you ask for. We feel so lucky to have found such a perfect villa in a heavenly spot called Barbados. Thank you again Claire and David for making our holiday such a great one.

A beautiful beachside villa

  • 4 of 5

We have just finished a two week stay at this wonderful villa with our toddler daughter. We had an amazingly relaxing time. The beach is at the bottom of the villas terrace through a locked gate. it is lovely and it's easy to get into the sea. We enjoyed our daily strolls and dips into the beautiful warm sea.

The villa itself is very well kept and spacious, looked after by a very friendly and diligent housekeeper, Althea. It states in the villa advert that she is full time, however we found she was at the villa for approx 2.5hrs a day. This suited us as we preferred having the villa to ourselves. Althea will Cook if you ask her but this is not included in the Price.

The outside areas at the villa are spacious, welcoming and relaxing. A gardener comes weekdays to clean the patio and there's also a small plunge pool. We found the pool a little cold but our daughter loved it!

It should be noted the villa is located next to a fish market and shower block so there's lots of activity. It's also located just off the main west Coast road round the island. Neither of these things bothered us but it can get noisy. We generally found the beach outside the villa very quiet.

Food wise you are spoilt for choice. We enjoyed meals at Tides, Scarlet's, The Cliff and Jumas in Speightsown. Would highly recommend all.

I would definitely love to return to Seashells. Such a relaxing, beautiful place.
