Large House with Rooftop Sun Terrace and Lake View

Overview

Property

Updated: 05-Dec-2016
House in Stresa, Lake Maggiore/ Italian Lakes, Italy - Peaceful Location, 5 Minutes Drive to Town of Stresa

Casa Bellavista has been sympathetically renovated over three years to an exceptionally high standard. Despite having all the facilities of modern day living, it still retains the magic and character of the original 'rustico' house. The designer kitchen with large marble island, two luxury bathrooms, WC, three large bedrooms, one with walk-in wardrobe, open plan top floor living area and idyllic private roof terrace should leave you wanting for nothing. Casa Bellavista is set in the heart of Someraro and provides easy access to the picturesque towns that inhabit the palm lined esplanades of Lake Maggiore.

Top Traveller Review

About the Owner

We both live and work in England but share a passion for travel and exploring the sights and sounds of other countries. Before we got together, Jonathan backpacked round the world for a year and wrote back home every month telling us all about the exciting destinations he was exploring. Aside from travelling, we both love cooking, our weekly yoga classes, learning the Italian language and fitness. Jonathan is crazy about golf and Graphic Novels (comics) while Joanna is crazy about all kinds of literature, especially the classics. We both love walking in the countryside and above all, we love having fun! We are most at home when we're in the mountains or by the sea. Beautiful locations are what make us smile, along with our beautiful daughter Isabella Sophia, who was born on 1st April 2011.

Fabulous

We had a wonderfully week in Casa Bellavista and it is everything and more that it says it is. The house is of a very very high standard and the views leave you speechless. Information and help from the owners was first-class. I would hire as small a car as possible for the Italian roads- we were a party of 5 and managed no problems.

Highly recommend this to anyone.

Location

From the Owner

We bought Casa Bellavista in 2006, the year we got engaged. I have been visiting Italy with my family since the age of 13 when I first fell in love with this magnificent country. In 2006 Jonathan proposed to me by the Trevi Fountain in Rome and it was at this point that Italy for me was firmly established in my mind as the most romantic country on the planet! We spent an exhilarating few weeks as a newly engaged couple, exploring Italy by train and falling more and more in love with the country and each other. We both love everything about Bella Italia; the food, the people, the culture, the stunning scenery, the shops, the weather, the list is endless! Lake Maggiore has to be one of the most romantic lakes in the world and for this reason, we looked for a property here.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

For those who fancy sunning themselves on a beach, being in the Italian lakes doesn’t mean you have to forgo that. In the next town to Stresa, just a five minute drive away, Baveno has its own Lido complete with sand, sunloungers, a bar, restaurant, volleyball games to watch, and cool lake breezes.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Milan Malpensa which is approximately 45 minutes drive from the house. Several airlines fly here. Easyjet flies here from London Gatwick, Bristol or Edinburgh, or you can travel by British Airways or Lufthansa from London Heathrow or Flybe from Birmingham and Manchester. Ryanair fly to Milan Bergamo from London Luton, London Stansted, Bristol, Liverpool, Bournemouth, East Midlands and Glasgow.Jet 2 fly to Bergamo from Leeds Bradford and BMI Baby fly from Birmingham.

Distances:

The picturesque, bustling town of Stresa is just over a mile away from the house or 5 mins by car / 20 mins on foot, where you will find numerous boutiques and restaurants off the main piazza. For high end shopping, Milan is just 40 minutes away on the train. The house is perfectly situated for visiting the towns around the lake; Luino, Cannobio, Cannero, Arona, Baveno, Pallanza and Ascona to name a few. All of which can be reached within 45 minutes. Stunning Lake Orta is just 25 minutes away.

Further Details:

The nearby town of Stresa boasts numerous shops, restaurants, banks and a well stocked supermarket with delicious local produce. Every Friday Stresa hosts a market where you can browse the local produce or pick up a bargain leather handbag, belt or pair of shoes. The Lago Maggiore Express is a fantastic day trip. It takes you first by train through the Italian Alps, past charming mountain villages, the Swiss Alps, and finally back to Stresa by boat on Lago Maggiore, with the freedom to get off and on both the train and the boat in certain towns.Slightly further afield at 1.5 hours away is Lake Como which features the stunning towns of Bellagio and Varenna. If opera is your scene, then in just under two hours you can be in the beautiful city of Verona where open air concerts are held throughout the Summer at the incredible Verona Arena. More locally, Stresa holds a music festival throughout the Summer months. The famous Borromeo Islands are a 'must'. Just a short boat ride across from the shores of Stresa, these beautiful islands have attracted visitors for centuries. Isola Bella, one of the most popular of the islands has a magnificent palazzo surrounded by lush, floral gardens with fountains, peacocks and secret grottos.

Facilities

From the Owner

When we first found Casa Bellavista it was a derelict wreck, but we could see the potential. Set in the picturesque village of Someraro, once we stepped foot in the house we knew we couldn't leave without signing on the dotted line! It was the scariest thing we have ever done, but the most exhilarating. It took over three years to complete Casa Bellavista, with the help of a fantastic architect and builder, but we got there in the end. Casa Bellavista offers the romance and tranquillity we craved and yet it is so near to so many fantastic attractions. We have made friends with the locals and are now able to converse with them in our pigeon Italian! We hope our guests will feel as at home in Casa Bellavista as we do. It really is set in one of the most beautiful locations in the world!

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The house has full central heating. This is a No Smoking accommodation. Unsuitable for pets. Outside: Casa Bellavista has had built onto it one of the only roof terraces in the village. From here, you will have panoramic views of the mountains and lake. Up here you will find the comfort and luxury of indoors has been taken outside and transformed into one of the main ‘rooms’ you’ll want to relax in. The six seater rattan dining set has been carefully chosen with comfort in mind – no hard wooden chairs to sit on, instead you can sink into each chair with your own velvet cushion at your back. The barbeque up here will make al fresco dining as simple as it is delicious. There is also an electric socket up on the terrace where you can plug in your iPod and listen to tunes if you so wish. Cushions and a large parasol are all kept in the outside cupboard on the terrace. The terrace is fully bordered by 1.2m high railings. Utility Room: Washing machine. Tumble Dryer, ironing board and iron. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Luxury bed linen and towels are included. The property is cleaned before each new guests arrive.
