2 bedroom apartment in peaceful and unspoilt location, uninterrupted bay and mountain views, car parking

The apartment is on the first floor and has 2 good size balconies which both have wonderful views. There are floor to ceiling windows in the apartment which make it beautifully light and expose the stunning scenery. New in 2009, the apartment was built to a good standard and thoughtfully furnished by us for our own use. It offers everything you need for either a relaxing break or as a base for an inspiring/adventurous holiday. An English speaking agent will meet you, guide you to and show you round the accommodation. The apartment is set on the lower slopes of Europe's most southerly fjord. There is excellent walking all round and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kotor Old Town is a 15-20 minute waterside walk away. Easily accessible from airports at Dubrovnik, Podgorica or, most conveniently, Tivat, Muo is a charming waterside village with a direct view of Kotor Old Town fortifications. Floodlit at night and reflected in the water of the bay, they make a truly unforgettable sight.

About Francesca Woodhams

Hello, my name is Francesca and I work in special educational provision for children and adolescents.

I bought the apartment as a bolthole for myself and my then teenage children after the sudden death of my husband and we kept the apartment as our retreat. However, it is no longer possible for us all to visit regularly and so I made the decision to let.

Initially, I had my heart set on finding an old, traditional, stone house, but I found myself putting down an off plan deposit on a new build apartment after seeing its wonderful location. I have never regretted it. It is much easier to look after and we have a great community of owners at Kotor View.

The family loves the apartment and has taken pride in furnishing it. It is a home from home that we are pleased for others to enjoy.

Why Francesca Woodhams chose Muo

I chose Montenegro because it has everything in a relatively compact area; long coastline,mountains,forests, lakes, not to mention the stunning fjord, Boka Kotorska, and fascinating history. Economy of scale gives intimacy and the pace of life is easy. I always feel I can holiday to suit my mood,ie. relax at the waterfront or in the cobbled squares of the Old Town,go up into the mountains for the wildlife and flowers,visit churches,Roman mosaics,old forts,etc.go in/on the water. It is also a fact that it is not possible to take a non-scenic route anywhere in Montenegro! I was keen on our site above Muo for its breathtaking views over the fjord and its tranquility, but also because of its proximity to the old town of Kotor, the Adriatic and Tivat and easy access to Podgorica and Dubrovnik.

Notes on accommodation: There are individually controlled heaters/air-conditioning units in all rooms. The apartment has WiFi internet access and there is plenty of hanging and storage space for 6 tenants. Outside: There is a barbecue area with ample tables and chairs, grassed garden area and plenty of sun loungers around the pool. A brand new motor boat, with skipper if required, is available for hire. The atmosphere at the apartments is very convivial and easy going, with a good mix of owners and tenants, however there is a high degree of privacy afforded by the design and siting of the apartments, giving you freedom of choice. All outside areas have uninterrupted, breathtaking views, as in the apartment and on the two balconies. There is allocated, private parking. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and all linen included, also swimming towels are provided. The apartment will be cleaned before and after each tenancy, however additional cleaning can be arranged easily. Other: Wide entrance hall with cupboard containing hair dryer, iron, ironing board, airer, pegs and vacuum cleaner. All rooms have individually controlled, very efficient air-conditioning and heating units. WiFi internet access.

Location

Coast/Beach:

A feature of the location is that access to the fjord for swimming or promenading is open at all points along its winding coastline. Each part of the coast has its own local flavour, each waterside cafe or restaurant its own identity. There is much to discover close at hand or, of course, further afield, all according to your inclination. A drive of 15 minutes will take you to larger beaches, and, meandering south, you will encounter many more stunning beaches. Boating can be arranged locally.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Tivat, a 15 minute drive from the apartment, but because it is behind the mountains the planes are neither seen nor heard! Also Dubrovnik Airport is 90 minutes away by car and Podgorica Airport is 2 hours away. A car is not essential as both taxis and buses are inexpensive and easy to access. However, it is simple to book car hire from any of the airports. The use of a car is convenient, particularly from the farther airports, and naturally will give more flexibility.

Distances:

Montenegro is a compact country (roughly the size of Wales) and it is unique due to its expansive coastline and diverse scenery. Muo is on the doorstep of Lovcen National Park and within easy reach of Montenegro's other World Heritage Site, the famous island of Sveti Stefan. Cetinje, the country's former capital, the charming, picturesque small town of Perast, Budva and Becici resorts are among numerous and varied locations for a medium range excursion. Glamorous Tivat Marina is 15 minutes away.

Further Details:

Further afield is Lake Skadar straddling the Albanian border, the port of Bar from which ferries depart for Italy, the wine growing region, Tara canyon and Ostrog Monastery, built into the cliff face, to name just a few places of interest. There is a small, local food shop below the apartment on the waterfront, accessed by steps. A good restaurant can also be found here. More food shops and butchers are situated on the way into Kotor and banks, post office, restaurants and cafes in abundance and a large, daily market are at the Old Town itself. The atmosphere in Kotor is pleasantly cosmopolitan, with a good mix of locals and tourists. The architecture and flagstone squares and alleyways are fascinating. It is very easy to spend time here, exploring or observing local life at the many open air cafes. The majesty and proximity of the surrounding mountains is always in evidence within the town and there is the added interest of the superyachts and cruise liners that call in here.

Even more glamorous is the huge and brand new luxury marina at Tivat, 15 minutes away. Again, set among stunning scenery, it is visited by craft belonging to many of the world's billionaires. Adjacent to the marina the wide, sun drenched promenades at Tivat have the very local and relaxed, family friendly atmosphere that typifies the Kotor Bay area.
