The Miller’s Cottage, cosy retreat, sleeps 5, private pool, free Wifi
Maison Meunier (The Miller’s Cottage) is a traditional, one story cottage situated next to the orchard and our private lake in a lovely secluded part of the estate. The cottage has its own five metre diameter swimming pool (approx. 1.4 m deep) and wooden decked veranda with plenty of sun loungers, plus a paved patio dining area with garden furniture and BBQ. Enjoy a day by the pool, a good book and a Ricard at sunset on the veranda.
The cottage comprises two bedrooms, sleeping five guests. The main bedroom has a king size bed, chest of drawers and wardrobe. The second bedroom is furnished with three single beds, wardrobe and chest of drawers. The open plan living room/kitchen has a lovely wood burning fire and flat screen TV (satellite freeview) and DVD player. There is also a well stocked bookshelf and dining table! The kitchen is well equipped with gas cooker top and fan assisted electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster.
Hi, we’re Martyn and Tas, owners of Le Seguinet. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to our lovingly restored holiday retreat in the beautiful historic Lot-et-Garonne (Aquitaine) region of France.
Our 18 acre private enclave comprises three sumptuously renovated properties, which sleep 12, 6 and 5 guests respectively. The properties can be rented separately for family and friend stays, or the estate can be rented as a whole. The stunning environment of the estate of Domaine de Seguinet, makes this an ideal location for weddings, family and friend get-togethers, and even as a film location.
Our hearts and souls went into the extensive restoration work of the 200 year old buildings, recreating some of the region’s rich history back into their foundations. We are currently rebuilding the millhouse/forge that formerly made cannon balls for Napoleon’s armies!
All the work was carried out with our guests’ comfort in mind. The fabulous original stonework has been exposed and beautiful high ceilings have been restored; the French doors and windows open up space and light, giving wonderful views to the gardens.
There’s plenty to explore around the grounds, where guests can lose themselves in the gardens, eat fruit from the orchard, paddle or go boating on the lake. Le Seguinet is also an idyllic setting for children, who can spend days exploring the grounds and setting up camp for their very own French “swallows and amazons” adventure. For the younger ones there are swings and a toddler slide available.
The rivers Lemance and Briolance border the estate, where children and adults alike can enjoy tickling trout, basket catching crayfish or wading down to the lake where they can experience wild swimming. Guests can fish in the lake, in the mill stream and even in the ornamental pond. Alternatively relax in our sun loungers, take a nap in the hammock and in the summer months when you need to cool down, you can swim in the pool, or a take dip in the refreshing lake.
Local Region & Things To Do
Le Seguinet is set on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Saint-Front-sur-Lémance in the heart of the Aquitaine region on the borders of the rivers Lot, Garonne and Dordogne. An area characterised by lush valleys, where rivers run through, poppy and sunflower fields blanket the vista and enchanted forests dot the landscape.
You can walk into the village (2 minutes) to buy fresh bread and croissants every morning and within a 4-5kms there are several small towns with stores and markets. Le Seguinet is just 10 minutes drive from the town of Fumel, where you’ll find many large supermarkets, restaurants and shops.
There are plenty of cultural attractions in the region, with numerous famous bastide towns (fortress towns) and chateaux nearby, and well worth a visit. We recommend: Belves, Monflanquin, Monpazier, Villefranche-du-Perigord, Villereal, Issigeac and Chateau de Biron to mention just a few. The beautiful town of Sarlat is only a 45 min drive away.
The region is wine and food lover heaven, with its long history of gastronomy and wine culture. Visit the vineyards of Bergerac and Dordogne, or Cahors and bring a bottle or two back to enjoy at Le Seguinet. And of course, eating out is part of the French way of life. Leisurely lunches can be enjoyed at great value, with most restaurants offering a three course lunch menu from around 12 euros including wine. For those looking for a haute-cuisine experience, there are some superb restaurants in the local region, including Michelin star restaurants in Pujols (40 mins) & Agen (40 mins). Just 10 min drive away you can dine in one of two restaurants, located at the foot of the historic Chateau de Bonaguil.
There are plenty of outdoor pursuits for adults and children, nature lovers and adventure sports enthusiasts, such as canoeing, hiking, cycling, kayaking, rafting, canyoning, golf, wild swimming, tree climbing, fishing and lots more!
Arriving at Le Seguinet is so easy with Bergerac airport only an hours drive on a simple and easy to follow route. Bordeaux and Toulouse are also within an easy drive.
Our guests immediately fall in love with Le Seguinet and Lot-et-Garonne, just as we did the first time we visited. Come and see us, we’d love to share our favourite places and tried and tested recommendations with you. We know you’ll appreciate the beauty of the region just as we do.
We’re also happy to help you plan your holiday activities and recommend cultural and natural places to visit.

About Tas Finnigan
We are an English couple, Tas & Martyn who moved to the Lot et Garonne after visiting the area for holidays. We have spent a few years restoring and renovating the main house and gardens and now live on site from March through to October. Someone is always available to help you with any questions.
Tas Finnigan purchased this cottage in 2009
Why Tas Finnigan chose Lot-et-Garonne
We had spent holidays in the Dordogne for a number of years and have fallen in love with the area and it's peaceful way of life. It compares with the beauty of the Cotswolds in the UK but with warmer weather. The setting of Seguinet is tranquil and idyllic and yet very accessible to the various bastide towns, villages and chateaux around.

Beautiful property, lovely location, perfect
We stayed at Seguinet in the Millers cottage for 2 weeks. The property is clearly sign posted from the main road and is adjacent to the quiet village of Saint Front sur Lemance. On arrival at the cottage we were cheerfully greeted by Martyn who showed us around the property; from the moment we stepped in the door it felt like a home from home. There was a small welcome package of bread, wine, cheese and sweet biscuits. The plunge pool was larger than we expected and proved to be the highlight for our daughter. The kitchen was very well equipped and spotlessly clean (as is the rest of the house). There is a dishwasher and a good washing machine, a rotary washing line outside and also a small airer that I used to dry towels and small items.. The sitting area has a very comfortable sofa and a good size dining table. Throughout the property all the furniture is really good quality and it is obvious that Tas has thought a great deal about the decor. Both bedrooms are spacious and airy with plenty of storage space. Outside the cottage is a paved terrace with a small charcoal BBQ. There is also a lovely patio area covered by a gazebo and very private. Throughout our stay Tas and Martyn were on hand if we needed anything, we only had to ask. They are the most gracious hosts always willing to help and answer questions and they made the holiday for us. I am so glad we stayed at the Millers cottage and we are determined that we will visit Seguinet again very soon.
Wonderful relaxing holiday retreat
We had the most wonderful holiday staying at the Millers Cottage, Le Seguinet. Excellent location, very tranquil and restful.
The amenities are excellent, with the plunge pool and fishing on the lake. The owners, Tas and Martyn, are so friendly and helpful, giving excellent customer service.
We highly recommend this property and are hoping to return next year.
Lovely Cottage !!
The cottage was immaculate and really well equipped, and in a good location to explore the Dordogne and Lot valleys. Martyn and Tas were fantastic hosts and looked after any needs that we had.
There is loads to do and see in this beautiful part of France or just chill out around the cottage. The night markets are great fun, and I wish we had visited more than one - Tas will provide you with the schedule for the markets. I have no hesitation in recommending this cottage to anyone.
Lovely retreat set amongst fruit trees
We stayed at Maison Meunier for the middle week of a three week honeymoon in France. After spending the previous week in Paris it was the perfect contrast allowing us to slow the pace down a little and put our feet up.
On arrival we were greeted by the owners Tas and Martyn who were very friendly and helpful offering advice when required. They're based on site but away from the property in the main buildings.
The accommodation itself is lovely and really well equipped with everything you could ever need. Outside, the pool is great for cooling off during sunbathing and the view from the terrace is beautiful with quince, apple and fig trees between the property and the nearby lake. We spent most evenings cooking on the barbecue with the fabulous local produce we picked up from the market or supermarket.
Nearby there are a number of chateaux to explore and also traditional bastide towns to wander round and grab a coffee or cold glass of champagne.
All in all, a lovely stay at a lovely place. We wouldn't hesitate to return.
We really enjoyed Maison Meunier. This is a little gem in a beautiful part of the Lot & Garonne. The property was clean, comfortable with attention to detail, such as proper sized towels! The extensive, well kept grounds, which included mature trees, a lake and a millstream were so peaceful. Owner Tas was most friendly and helpful without being in the least intrusive.
There were many interesting bastides and chateaux within 30 minutes drive of the house while larger towns like Cahors and Sarlat were just over an hour away.
All in all an excellent holiday. Highly recommended.

Activity and Interests
Special interest holidays:
The area is ideal for cycling or walking enthusiasts, offering real variety in this very historical region.
Seguinet offers a real opportunity for the family to develop their fishing skills. For the more experienced angler the Lot river is only 10-15 minutes away.
Although we are not near the coast, we have our own swimming lake - a lovely beach goes with rental of The Coach House, but swimming is available for all.
Slightly further afield there is river swimming in many of the rivers close to Domaine de Seguinet - details are in our comprehensive 'Discovering the Lot & Garonne' booklet.
The nearest airport is Bergerac, about 45 mins drive, used by Ryanair and Flybe etc. Hire cars can be booked in advance. It is necessary to have a car here in order to fully enjoy what the region has to offer. It is also within travelling distance of both Bordeaux and Toulouse Int airports, approx 2 hours and 1 hour and 45 mins away, respectively. Limoges airport is about 3 hours away.
Seguinet is in the village of St Front sur Lemance which has an 11th century church. Sauveterre sur Lemance is 5km away with shops, bars and restaurants. Just 10 min drive away you can sit in one of the two restaurants at the foot of the stunning Chateau de Bonaguil. The town of Fumel is just 10km away with large supermarkets and shops. In the rivers around Dordogne, Domme, Sarlat, Le Bugue, Bergerac and Beynac you can canoe or kayak down the river at your own leisure. We have two bicycles that can be borrowed at any time.
Parc-en-ciel is an adventure park for children and adults alike offering endless climbing fun in the tree tops. Park Wallaby is a traditional theme park guaranteed to keep the kids happy all day.
Wine tours of Bergerac and Duras are also a great way to spend the day.
There are other communes which are within a few kilometres of St Front. These include Blanquefort-sur-Briolance which has an auberge, and Gavadun which has a great restaurant.

The beautiful town of Sarlat is only a 45 min drive away. Everywhere you look is just so picturesque. Our ancient region of Aquitaine is steeped in history with many churches and castles to visit. Some of these places hold re-enactments and music shows during the summer. Medieval castles are major tourist attractions at Duras, Bonaguil, Biron and Monbazillac. Romanesque churches are another feature of the region and there isa fine abbey at Cadouin, with a good restaurant, pottery and market hall next to it.
