About the Owner

We are Belgian and we bought this property in France 30 years ago. We've always took care of it and improved it. Now it's organized as our main home. It's been fully renovated. We work in the building business, so this "building" is our masterpiece.

I agree wholeheartedly with every review

the house is stunning, the views are amazing, the village is wonderful !

The house is a lot bigger that appears on the photos, beautifully furnished with amazing art and antiques. there are 2 dining tables indoors and 2 outdoors, so we ate out as often as possible.

There were some lovely touches, such as fresh bars of soap in all the bathrooms

As mentioned, the streets are very narrow, we did get our Clio up with about an inch clearance, providing valuable entertainment for the tourists.

I would willingly go back there again !

Amazing - even better than the photographs!!

  • 5 of 5

We cannot recommend this property highly enough! Situated (right next to the Cathedral) in the medieval sector of the beautiful town of Vaison - like stepping back in time but with all modern conveniences on hand! Inside, the characterful property is beautifully styled with quality furnishings, all the equipment you could need and 4 superb bathrooms (2 with walk in showers; 2 with claw foot baths). Outside, there is a lovely, private garden - with an equally lovely(private) pool. Michelle, the wonderful, local housekeeper, was always available (and ready) to answer (often silly!) questions, give recommendations and make our stay as brilliant as it could be.

The property is just a few moments walk from a range of restaurants (and sites) in the medieval city - and a few minutes from the wider facilities in Vaison's main centre. It is an ideal base for exploring the many local Provencal delights (e.g. the "wine villages", Isle sur la Sourge, Nyons and Mont Ventoux). If you don't want to go far, there is plenty to keep you occupied in Vaison (e.g. the huge Tuesday Market, tours of and performances at the amphitheatre, interesting local shops, eating / drinking in the lovely main square and beyond ...). One tip: if you think that anyone in your party might be challenged by a slightly steep walk to the property, hire the smallest car available so that you can easily negotiate the tricky drive up to drop them off - before parking outside the medieval area.

Thank you for a wonderful holiday base!

Lovely house in a beautiful historical setting

  • 5 of 5

We (family of four with teenagers) loved the house and had a relaxing week, spending time around the pool, visiting the historical sites of Vaison, and eating well in a number of good nearby restaurants. The pool is fantastic, a very good size for a town house in a conservation area. The house is comfortable, well equipped, and atmospheric. An excellent place. Madame Paris, the housekeeper, was friendly and helpful. Thank you.

The photos are an understatement...

  • 5 of 5

... of how great this place looks.

Fabulous house, great local host, amenities, bars and restaurants on the doorstep (down the hill). The town is surrounded by the Provencal countryside and le Geant is only 20 mins ride away. What more do you need?

We'll be back.

Vive la France.

A beautiful home

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely time in this lovely house. It was presented as beautifully and cleanly as it appears in the online photos and is in itself is much a destination as the busy - and very accessible on foot - town. The gracious house keeper was extraordinarily helpful and obliging with great tips on the best bakeries and restaurants.

Sadly the restaurant La Belle Etoile which is her favourite would not take a booking for six people, but the other restaurants in the old village are both very good with lovely courtyards and had no problem with our number of guest. Like everyone who visits Vaison, we enjoyed the bustling Tuesday morning market, a fabulous wine tasting at Arbre du Vin where Mattieu speaks very informatively in impeccable English. Allow him to treat you to Rasteau Rose.

Fabulous property, beautifully renovated.

  • 5 of 5

A really beautiful property with a very high standard of renovation and fabulous bedrooms. We were a party of seven and there was more than enough room for everyone. The rooms are all gorgeous and nobody had to settle for a room they didn't want. The pool is lovely and the shaded area was very well used as the 'canicule' of 2015 was a hot one! The house stayed cool throughout and the lovely gardens made for a very calming stay despite being very much in the heart of the old town. After the tourists have left at the end of the day the town is wonderful and there are many restaurants to choose from.

Our party included two toddlers and even though there are some steep stairs the house is perfect and the pool well secured to avoid unwanted toddler visits.

It can be a bit difficult to get up to the property by car and we certainly weren't as brave as one of your previous reviewers and chickened out of taking the car up. The caretaker was super helpful though and took several trips up in her smaller car to help us out. Much appreciated!

The kitchen was very well equipped and had clearly been thought out by someone who loves to cook so we were in our element. There was plenty of crockery and utensils and most importantly it was easy to clean!

You could not possibly find a better property in the area and our cycling contingent were able to attempt the Ventoux on several occasions. Vaison itself is lovely although very busy on market day so get there early. It was really good to be able to leave the car for the week and have a properly relaxing break.

A fabulous property, we would highly recommend it.
