Luxurious modern 4th floor apartment close to Ria Formosa natural park in the charming town of Olhao. Large balconies where you can watch the changing views of the sea with fisherman picking their crops of clams and visiting birds such as flamingos. There is use of a shared rooftop pool and fabulous views of the Ria Formosa and nearby Ilhas. Situated in a newly built modern development next to a new 5* hotel. Minutes from many local amenities including the old town with historic churches and architecture, restaurants, supermarkets and shops and a new shopping centre "Ria Shopping" which also has a cinema. There is a marina with a wonderful fishing market selling catches of the day and local produce where you can soak up the bustling atmosphere of Portugese life. There are also train and bus services. There are 3 golf courses within 15 miles of Olhao.

Excellent Apartment in a Great Location

Family 4 (2 adults, 2 kids (age 3&6)

Apartment: modern, clean, spacious apartment. Has all the comforts of home. Air con very sufficient. On 4th floor with lift so very handy to the pool on the 5th floor. Really handy to have beach towels included as luggage allowance is dismal these days.

Location: great proximity to Faro airport, only 15/20 mins by car. We booked YellowFish Transfer for 50 euros return but thought that was a bit pricey for the distance we went. Heard in a normal taxi it's 20 Euros one way. Apartment blocks under the flight path so great for the kids to see all the airplanes during the day. Can sometime hear them early morning (6ish) but no problem sleeping during the night.

Amenities: closest supermarket is Lidl but it is a walk along a busy road which you have to cross. Best to not take kids with you and go on the weekend, roads quieter. Could get a taxi back very cheap. All big supermarkets like Pingo, Jumbo have a good selection of dairy free alternatives (except cheese, I never checked).

Loads of restaurants along the main street, only 5 min walk from apartment. Closest is the Emotions which is part of the development and the Sangria and dinner food was quite reasonable and very good. Other restaurants we liked were A Taska (tapas/burger), Prazeres (really nice and tiger prawns a must) and Frango Da Cidada (takeaway chicken but best to eat in, chips soggy when took away). Wasn't keen on O Bote (service appalling bad) and Ola Peixe (food was ok).

Other: As it was very hot very difficult for young children to walk any distance. Walked to the ferry terminal to go to the beach on Armona Island. Walk to terminal normally no more than 15 mins but in the heat and young children took much longer. Ferry tickets free for 4 and under and ride very enjoyable and not pricey. Once on the island you must bring or buy an umbrella as no shade for the children. We didn't walk to the other end of the island but the beach right off the ferry was a bit tacky and busy. We found a quieter part of the beach which is where the first aid station is situation, there's a path that takes you to the beach.

Overall had a great holiday and would recommend the apartment and location.

Nice relaxing stay

Nice spacy modern flat for a couple or famely with a generous sunny (afternoon) balcony on 3rd floor, right underneith the lovely rooftop pool area. The flat is well equiped - better & with more I dared to expect.

Olhão is a quiet place without a beach, but the islands are only a 15-30 min ferry ride away.

We were looking for a warm, quiet relaxed place for a week without any Party-TamTam like other places at europs costs/islands. We hit that spoton and had a lovely relaxing time.

I'm sure I'll return another time.

Leamington Spa

Great Apartment Fabulous Location

We had never been to Eastern Algarve and had no expectations but was blown away with it. The apartment is 10 minutes walk from getting the ferry to the different beaches and outside the Marina Hotel next door there is also some ferries and private boat taxis if you can't be bothered to walk.

The apartment is well equipped and modern and the roof top terrace with plunge pool made it a nice way to cool down after a hot day on the beach.

The restaurants are just a short stroll away and there is a stylish bar called Emotions just 2 minutes away. We had a chilled out lovely stay here and would totally recommend it and will definately be returning soon.

A clean comfortable and well maintained apartment.

My husband and myself have stayed in both of Hayley's and Mark's apartment's on many occasions and at different times of the year. There must be something we like about Olhao! We have always found both apartment's to be very clean and comfortable, well maintained and equipped for any cooking you may wish to do in the apartment. A 5 minute walk gets your to the vegetable and fish market's and the many cafe's and restaurant's. We personally have never hired a car as the local train and bus station's give you the scope to explore further if you wish to. Hayley and Mark are alway's happy to help with any query you have.

Immaculate, well located apartment

Third time in apartment, as always immaculate. Everything you need for s/c holiday. Love relaxing by swimming pool on roof. Plenty of lovely restaurants and cafes and good train links to Taveria and Faro. Ferry available to travel to beautiful islands for day trips. Can't wait to go back again. On site management company very helpful and owners fab too.

From the Owner

We fell in love with the Eastern Algarve area as it has an unspoilt, natural feel, incredibly friendly people and of course climate, food and beaches to die for. For us Olhao feels like a real Portuguese town with lovely architecture rather than a tourist destination, although it has so much to offer (and the Portuguese themselves definitely see it as a holiday resort particularly for the Aug maritime festival), with a fabulous 5* spa hotel, expanded marina and many restaurants offering fabulous fresh food at a fraction of the cost of other resorts. Faro airport only 15-20 mins away means you can be in the pool within an hour of landing! Miles of beaches just a short ferry ride away and good local transport mean you don't need a car, although exploring the hillside towns is a treat.

Beaches in the area are situated on the Ihlas (Armona, Culatra Deserta) in the Ria Formosa with miles of golden sands watersports, restaurants and bars easily reached within 15 to 20 minutes via ferry or water taxi. One ferry stops opposite the apartments and the other is a 5 minute walk in the town. There are many boat trips such as dolphin watching, and plenty of other blue flag sandy beaches are in the area such as Fuzeta, Faro and Barrill beaches which are approximately 15 minute drive.


Faro airport is 20 minutes away by car/taxi costing approx 25 euros. Airport transfer can also be arranged by our local agents. Car hire is not essential as there are good train and bus services from Olhao to points across the Algarve and Lisbon, and many tour services to local (and even Spanish) attractions, since the Spanish border is only 60km away, although car hire is useful to go further afield, for example into the Algarve foothill towns/villages. Airport collection service is available.


5 minute walk along the marina will take you to the town (markets/supermarkets etc.). 18km to Tavira. 8km to Faro old town. 12km to Faro beaches. 30km from Vilamoura. 40km from Albufeira. 65km from Spain.

The apartments are next door to a beautiful 5* star spa hotel situated in a charming historic typically Portuguese town. Within 5 minutes walk from the apartment is a unique selection of bars and restaurants, wonderful fish and vegetable market, shops, banks/cash machines.
