Holiday Home in Dolo, Nr. Jugon Les Lacs, 22270 Brittany, France - Small Village nutes from the Beaches

Les Baguettes is situated in the small hamlet of Dolo with its own bakery, bar, small shop and creperie. There is also a lake which can be fished and, for the energetic amongst you, there is a fitness trail which surrounds it also a childrens play area with a zip wire. The closest large village is the picturesque Jugon Les Lacs.

approximately 2 miles away, with its bars, creperie, pizzeria (take aways available) and two restaurants. A small supermarket, newsagent, doctors, dentist, banks, hairdressers are also to be found here. Fishing permits are available from "la maison de la pêche" in Jugon.

About David Bartlett

We are David and Sandy Bartlett. We bought the property, an old farmhouse and barn in 1999, on the eve of the millennium. In 2001 we moved over here to live permanently with our two daughters, Daisy and Kitty, who are now twenty -two and twenty, respectively.

Sandy was a Primary School teacher in England and has continued to work as a teacher over here. Fortunately she has a degree in French which has been an advantage. David is an audio-visual and sound engineer whose work is usually overseas.

Brittany is a lovely part of the world and we are very happy here. We will be on hand, but not intrusive, to offer advice and information to make your stay with us as enjoyable as possible

Why David Bartlett chose Dolo

We had often dreamt of owning a property in France but it became a reality after a visit to friends in the region in 1999. Sandy viewed the property and instantly fell in love with it and we put an offer in before David had even seen it. David, subsequently, spent a weekend here and

the deed was done!

We spent many holidays here and then decided to move here in 2001. We actually unloaded all our furniture and belongings in the morning and were on the beach at midday. It was a truly wonderful start to our life here.

While Dolo is a very small village, it is perfectly positioned in relation to some of the most beautiful sights in the area. Dinan, a medieval town and port is only twenty minutes away and there are also stunning beaches twenty- five minutes away in either direction.

What makes this barn unique

Dolo is a peaceful little village but benefits from a great little bakery with a bar and shop attached. The bakery is literally next door and provides a variety of bread and patisserie. We also have a really great creperie in the village which serves savoury buckwheat galettes, burgers and steaks and delicious crepes.

There are some great walks in the area and marked cycle routes of varying difficulty. There is a children's playground, basketball court and fitness trail next to the lake which is about 100 metres from the gite. Small sailing boats and pedalos are available to hire in the next village, Jugon-les-lacs with its many restaurants.

Outside: The garden itself is planted with flowers and shrubs and includes a children's play area equipped with swings, slide and a boule run. The swimming pool is an above ground heated one pool measuring 5.5m in diameter and is entered via a ladder. The pool is open from May to the end of September depending on the weather. A paddling pool is available for younger family members. We respectfully remind parents that the safety of their children in and around the pool is their responsibility at all times. It is possible to park directly outside of the gite and there is room for two cars. Table tennis and badminton are also on offer. The property is secluded and tranquil. There is a garden table and chairs on the wooden terrace and there is a large parasol. A barbecue is provided and a small supply of charcoal on arrival. Utility Room: Stored in the kitchen there is an iron, ironing board and clothes dryer. In addition, an outside washing line can be provided. Two travel cots with bedding and a high chair can also be provided and a stair gate. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are provided. A change of linen is offered once -a -week. A welcome pack is provided including essentials ; coffee, tea, sugar, water, OJ, eggs and salt and pepper. Dishwasher and washing machine tablets are provided as are bin bags.

The barn is an absolute delight, with lots of space, but a warm homely feel. The internet is great as it covers the whole property. Every mod con is catered for, with the basics catered for on arrival like tea, coffee, milk etc. Great after a long journey. There was even 2 bottles of wine &

Lovely gite. Very well kept and tidy.

Had a lovely stay. Gite is beautiful - everywhere is clean with lovely furnishings. On arrival there is a welcome pack of milk and other essentials and the log burner lit so lovely and cosy.Would like to say a special thank you to gite owners sandy and Dave who are the most helpful and lovely people and nothing is too much trouble for them. Would definitely stay here again.

The gite was situated in a lovely quiet and peaceful location & was extremely comfortable

Sandy was extremely welcoming and was able to recommend local restaurants and attractions. We enjoyed the complimentary red & white wine, eggs butter etc was much appreciated after our long journey. The gite was very comfortable and spacious. We particularly enjoyed the jacuzzi 'even in the rain'. The gite is located in a small village however, was close to many beautiful towns & villages such as Dinan. Would definitely recommend a stay and would love to return in the future❤️

Perfect location

The owners, Sandy and David, were extremely welcoming and very helpful during our stay . They informed us about local events and nothing was too much trouble. The gite was very comfortable and we enjoyed the heated pool and pretty gardens. Lots of games were provided including boule, badminton and swing ball, ideal for all ages. The locality was perfect for water sports on the lake and cycling and simply enjoying the beautiful tranquility of the countryside.

Lovely spacious property set in a small village. Perfect garden for relaxing in.

Owners live onsite and are very attentive and helpful. Peaceful property with great outdoor facilities, superb for children. The jacuzzi was not working very well when we visited, but the children enjoyed it as a small pool instead!

My husband and I along with our 2 boys (aged 6 & 2) had a wonderful time at this extremely well equipped gite in the heart of picturesque Dolo. We spent most of our time relaxing at the gite, taking advantage of the pool and hot tub. There is a lovely play park within walking distance which is located next to the local wake park where you can enjoy a nice walk around. We also visited Dinan which is only 20mins drive away and full of lovely things to see and do in this historic town.

Sandy was a wonderful host and had thoughtfully left us a couple of bottles of wine & a few other bits and pieces to help us get started on our holiday. She was also a huge hit with our boys particularly our 2 year old Lewis who is still asking after her.

We were very sad to be leaving after booking for only 1 week and will definitely look to return again soon & book a longer stay.

There are many beautiful beaches in the area, the nearest is only twenty five minutes away by car. The beaches at St Cast-le-Guildo are long and sandy with volleyball and other activities. St Jacut-sur-Mer consists of little coves and has a restaurant on the beach itself. It also has a small diving platform in use during high tide. In the other direction you will find Pleneuf-val- André, and beaches around Erquy and Cap Fréhel. Dinard and Saint Malo are the two largest historical seaside towns.Cancale is famous for its oysters and seafood


Our closest port is St Malo serviced by Brittany ferries from Portsmouth and is approximately a 40 minute drive. Another popular route is Portsmouth to Caen, again using Brittany ferries. Caen is approximately a two hour drive. There is also the option of Plymouth to Roscoff . Ryanair fly into Dinard from Stansted and East Midlands throughout the year and from Luton to Dinard during the summer. They also fly from Luton to Brest. Flybe fly from Southampton Southend Belfast Exeter, Edinburgh and Manchester to Rennes and from Exeter and Birminham to Brest.There are also flights from London Gatwick to Rennnes.

Further Details:

In Dolo there is a lake with a Wake park where you can try kneeboarding, surfboarding and water skiing. There are bike trails both on and off road.Locally there is horse riding, go carting, sailing and other water sports.

Changeover Day:
If you should wish to book a break during our low season we may be able to be flexible re arrival and departure days and the length of stay. Do not hesitate to ask.

Notes on prices:
Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds.50% on booking and the remainder 6 weeks before arrival.
A deposit of £150 is required on booking via a seperate cheque to cover major breakages and damage. This will be returned within 14 days after your departure. For long term lets out of season please enquire for price. For winter bookings a basket of wood is included for the wood-burner. Extra wood will be charged at cost and the first 50 units of electricity are free after charged at cost.
