Very relaxing and tranquil..
About the Owner
Hidden Cottage has been a real labour of love. Originally being from Castara, I began building a home I could visit from the UK with wife and kids and 'lime' with my family back on Tobago. It is an absolute pleasure to own and share with others.
I built the house together with with my brothers and life long friends. From design, to digging out the foundations to putting on the paint, each and everyone has played their part making Hidden Cottage so special.
Nestled between the rainforest and beach I wanted to ensure the design of the house captured the beauty of my family land with its magical, splendid birdlife, mango trees and fruits for all to enjoy. From the decks and the little jacuzzi its time to really relax in comfort and privacy, and take in all nature has to offer.

Guest Report, visited in April 2009
Hidden Cottage is a sweetly secluded spot in Castara. We stayed in the Hummingbird Apartment for 5 days where we were surrounded by Nature's beauty: a close quiet beach, lush wild verdant trees laden with fruit, spectacular bird life - and yes, hummingbirds! It met all our needs for simplicity, privacy and comfort. We loved it and hope to return!

Very relaxing and tranquil..
You never know what your going to get because your reserving something site unseen. . Well worth the money and time and will be returning if available... I had selvin help me with a taxi ride too and from the airport...when we got to the house there was a gentleman there who gave us a tour explained how everything worked and the bedrooms. The rooms are big and spacious with entry onto the balcony from every room and a hammock to chill out in.. it's up a steep hill so if your not a hill climber you may want to rent a car . I did for 2 days just so i can get to the other side of the island. . There is a bus route. . But the locals don't even trust it . Make sure you get some groceries before coming to town , the locals are not always open and they have just the bare minimum. .. I came with 3 teenagers and they enjoyed the entire trip and definitely will return next year. village people are great.. the beach is awesome and Castara almost started feeling like home ..

Activity and Interests
Castara is known for its two beautiful beaches - real picture post card material. Big Bay is just a 3 minute stroll from the house and Little Bay is about 7 minutes - or you can swim around from Big Bay.
From the golden sands you can watch fishermen going about their daily catch. The swimming is fab - and there is a life guard on duty. The snorkeling is first class off Little Bay.
Englishman's Bay is 10 minutes drive away.
Castara is a 45 minute drive from the airport at Crown Point.
A number of small shops and restaurants are a 3 minute stroll away. You can purchase fresh fish from the fishermen at the main beach. There is a small supermarket in the village and shop selling fresh fruit. Pick your own from our garden!
It may be wise to stock up at one of the larger supermarkets en route from the airport. The bigger supermarkets and a mall are situated in the south of the island - 30 minute drive away
The house is looked after by our housekeeper and we can arrange airport transfer from the airport

Outside: More than 30 varieties of birds can be seen without leaving the decks of our house - a real birdwatchers paradise. Privacy and peace is guaranteed. The house is situation on a hillside just off a newly surfaced road right leading up from the main road through the village. There are no other tourist houses at this particular spot - no road noise - just the chirping of birds and the going-about of daily village life from friendly local neighbours. Although we are just 2 minutes for the centre of village life you might feel you are in the heart of the rain forest. It is totally private nestled among mango, orange, lime trees, and guest can enjoy the fruits when in season. The garden jacuzzi is small but ideal for cooling off. There is nice lighting around the house at night - to it is a great place to relax.
