Casa Rosa, Rustic House

Updated: 19-May-2015
Holiday Home in Barzano di Gropparello, Piacenza, Emilia Romagna - Built on an Apennine Ridge, the House has Magnificent Views to the Alps on a clear day

The house is ideal as a base for relaxation or for touring or both. Built in stone and timbers, it dominates the ridge with sensational views over the surrounding country. In high summer it offers welcome cooling breezes. The bedrooms offer ample space and storage-the kitchen seats 8. The house is managed by Giuseppina and her mother, the wonderful Renata, who speaks English. Renata would be more than happy to divulge some of the secrets of Piacentine cookery with a lesson at the house.

About the Owner

Casa Rosa is owned by Carlo, son of Bina Pellati, who lived in the house for many years. Carlo lives in England but as a child he spent many happy holidays here. He has returned on a regular basis with his children and friends. All who visit comment that Barzano and the area make a lasting impression-I am more than happy to share it with visitors.

The charm of the area is in its honest rustic character, its gentle pace of life and its friendly and helpful people. Yes, it is off the beaten track and is uncommercialised in a province that has been described as "unsung", yet it has such ready access to a rich variety of cities and cultural/sporting activities as to keep the visitor fully occupied.
