Notes on accommodation: Sorry no pets accepted. Telephone at the farmhouse receiving incoming calls worldwide but with restricted outgoing calls, covering just the local area. Linen can be provided on supplement charges. Full website address on request. Outside: There is a long sweeping private driveway which leads you up to the front of the farmhouse, ample off road parking space, fantastic views across open fields + countryside, gardens to the side + rear offer plenty of secure play space for children, being set well back from the lane. The 12mx6m private swimming pool, totally enclosed with gateway, fitted security alarm at your disposal. The exterior Roman steps at the shallow end for easier access for children or elderly, make the pool seem even bigger, pool ladder at the deeper end. The covered terrace area next to the kitchen offers an ideal spot for family meals + BBQ's, the open terrace extends the length of the farmhouse + paved terrace also around the swimming pool area, various garden furniture supplied, teak dining table + chairs, sun loungers, BBQ's etc. hopefully everything you will need for a thoroughly enjoyable + relaxing holiday. Plenty of books to read, quiet walking paths, bike hire available locally Bed linen available on supplement cost 20€ per double/15€ per single, per set. Towels/swimming towels not provided. The property is always cleaned for new arrivals. Telephone points in the kitchen and downstairs bedroom. There are in fact two staircases, at each end of the farmhouse to go upstairs. The lay out is comfortable with individual bathrooms/showers, WC's close to each of the bedrooms yet independent.

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing

The title says it all really. We arrived after a long drive (would recommend splitting the drive if that's your plan from the UK) to find the most wonderful farmhouse situated at the end of a pretty fantastic driveway. Getting into the farmhouse, our 3 sons, aged 9, 6 and 3 were amazed at the stone floored living room, expansive kitchen/dining room and the squealing when they discovered their bedroom (they do actually have beds and bedrooms at home) was deafening. This farmhouse is HUGE. 4 well sized rooms with beds a plenty and 3 bathrooms with separate toilets are welcomed with a party of 8. This leads me to the outside........ In fairness to Ruth, she has detailed the size of the pool but it is massive in reality. 36 x 12 feet I do believe and everyone in our party spent most of their time in the pool. That, along with the large grassed area (maintained by the friendly gardener) and the outside seating, sunbathing and dining area make this a farmhouse that my family and I will now use for many years to come. Shops are close by and there are cafe's and restaurants close by. We were lucky enough to meet Ruth when she came to clean the pool and I must say she's as lovely in person as she appeared on the phone. All in all it's a no brainier for us and we will be booking for next year later this week.Thank you Ruth for making this a wonderful family holiday.

Amazing place!!

Just got back from staying in this farmhouse for a week, its situated in a lovely countryside location whilst also having the fun of a private pool! The welcome pack was a nice touch:) All of the house was very clean and had all the amenities you could need! You had the luxury of a quiet location whilst being close to lovely little towns like chef-boutonne, civray, celles-sur-belle all of which have markets and beautiful churches (we loved going to the abbey in celles-sur belle). We also visited a couple of the larger cities of Niort and Angouleme both of which had lots of shops,stalls and historic sites to visit making great days out! And we still didn't get to visit everywhere we wanted! Great host and great holiday would definitely go again!

Stunning property, lovely location.

Location, so peaceful.

The farmhouse is huge , loads of space particularly if you have children or two families sharing.

We were thankful for the pool as weather was beautiful and definately needed to cool off at times...

The pool is also very secure , gated and alarmed.

The house was spotless with everything we required.

Communication with Louise the owner was great from booking right up until we arrived, thankyou and thankyou for the welcome pack.

Great holiday.

We will see you soon.

July 2017 Great stay !!!

We found the accommodation had everything we needed for 2 families. The welcome pack was very much needed after a 14 hour + drive.

The location was peaceful and the grounds were spacious that we were not on top of each other.

Hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we did if you choose to book it

Amazing relaxing holiday

We have had another amazing holiday in Hanc. The communication with the owner was excellent from booking right through to arrival and indeed the end of our stay. She was very friendly and helpful.

The Farmhouse itself was impeccably clean and very inviting. The pool really has the wow factor and was very much enjoyed by our whole family from first thing in the morning right through to darkness some days thanks to the fabulous pool lighting and the patio area lighting.

Although there are neighbours to the property we had complete privacy and didn't hear anything from anyone else. We were able to play our music without worry of upsetting any locals.

The local towns are very friendly and we found everything that we needed. We also found lots locally to do with the children including canoeing, fishing and parcour tree climbing with zip wires. I will most certainly be looking to go again in the future and would highly recommend to anyone looking for the luxury of a large private pool, large well kept garden and beautiful sunshine. A very enjoyable and relaxing holiday

Stunning pure relaxation - PERFECT!

Wow! Holiday blues are in full swing! My husband, who does not generally enjoy holidays even admitted he wasn't ready to leave this beautiful house!

We arrived with 2 young children, 4 & 6, in the middle of the night direct from 5 days at DisneyLand. We explored the gite on arrival and it was beautiful. When we awoke in the morning, with the sun shining my first question to my husband was, "Is it as beautiful in the light as it was last night?"......... better!!! ...was his reply! And he wasn't wrong!

The gite is an old building with all the character that you would expect. The bedrooms are comfortable and so many to choose from! The kids slept in the biggest room and played musical beds!

We opted for the downstairs double with doors out to the garden.

The garden and pool was a perfect space. The fence around the pool was an absolute godsend ensuring you could relax knowing the children couldn't access the pool without supervision! Even so, my 4 year old DID slip into the pool from the side, while we were supervising him, so we were lucky to pull him out in seconds! You just cannot be too careful!!

Overall, an amazing house, perfect for larger groups! We were 3 adults, 2 children. But already planning who to bring next time! The house would work perfectly for 3 families with kids all sharing the large room!

Ruth was a great host ensuring the pool was cleaned during our stay! Just perfect! Thank you for sharing your lovely house and we can't wait to come back!!

There is also local fishing on the river Charente or the river Vienne (licences required) or private fishing lakes available in the area.

There are also several horse riding centers in the local area, once very close to the farmhouse.

For artists who enjoy painting there are many interesting local features that could keep you busy for hours, market halls, old stone river bridges, abbeys and old churches.

This is also a lovely area for cyclists, one of the french favourite past times of course, the countryside offering lots of lovely quiet lanes + tracks and gently rolling so its not flat or too steep either!

Bike hire is available locally, easily organised with delivery on site.

Coast/Beach:

Beaches in the area offer a nice lazy day out for a change from the swimming pool, Royan - St Palais sur Mer - La Côte Sauvage approx 1h30 drive all have excellent beaches, La Rochelle has a few pretty coves at 1hr + just south of here Chatillon-sur-Plage offers larger sandy beaches, the oyster parks at Fourras will also offer the odd sandy cove.There are also large lakes, closest at Celles sur Belles offering all sorts of water sports, local rivers as well for canoeing,kayaking + water ski-ing.

Travel:

The farmhouse is easily accessible from any of the car ferry ports, all of them offering easy motorway driving at varying distances + times, Calais approx 6rs. The local airports Poitiers 1hr, Angouleme 1hr, Limoges 2hrs, La Rochelle 1hr, offering good all year round services, not to mention major airports Bordeaux just 2 hours away, Nantes 2 hours + of course Paris. Trains are equally easy with Eurostar London Lille Poitiers. Car rentals available but a car is definitely a necessity once here.

Distances:

Bordering the Charente department,the farmhouse is situated near Chef Boutonne a lovely market town full of character, offering full everyday facilities necessary.Ruffec easily accessible approx 20km, Sauzé Vaussais close on hand at 10km, Melle, Couhé, even Civray + Confolens are closeby. Being well positioned in the heart of the Poitou-Charentes area so easy access to major cities of Poitiers, Niort, Limoges, La Rochelle, Angouleme, St Jean D'Angely, Saintes + of course all the coast line.

Further Details:

Set in the heart of the Poitou-Charentes, southern part of the Deux Sevres (79) bordering the Charente (16) region, in a small hamlet called Hanc, there are a multitude of treasures to discover in the area but if the weather is good you won't want to budge from the farmhouse except to do your shopping + sample the super fresh produce + local markets. Daily requirements are all very close to hand either at Chef Boutonne, Sauzé Vaussais or Ruffec, with many other local villages + small towns well worth visiting. Alternatively 4 major cities easily accessible, Poitiers, renowned for Futuroscope the futuristic adventure park with exciting images + scientific wizardry, Angouleme, Niort with its 'marais poitevin' (Venice vert) a system of endless canals attracting an abundance of wildlife, Limoges dedicated to porcelain. La Rochelle approx 1.30hrs with its beautiful old port + fantastic sea food restaurants, Royan with its fabulous beaches + Zoo at 'La Palmyre' with incredible flamingos, Cognac for brandy + pineau distilleries, Aquatic centre with diving or hamman facilitities. Closer to home the folklore festival at Confolens is a must in August, Silver mines at Melle, the Monkey farm at Romagne children love or simply enjoy walking or cycling the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturdays at the start of the season but switches to Sunday changeovers mid/late June (lower/off season bookings can be flexible where possible). Arrival on first day from 5.30pm and departure on last day strictly by 9am.
