A lovely little cottage with roses round the door;

Sweet and warm and welcoming- who could ask for more?

And Tideswell too-really friendly in every way.

The walks around, they just abound-we will return one day.

So thank you Wendy Taylor for a perfect place to stay.

Thanks for a wonderful stay. Lovely cottage, well equipped and a superb location. The sound of the church bells has been a beautiful soundtrack to such a peaceful village. A perfect place for R&R.

Nice House, Super Location

  • 4 of 5

Our second visit to this nice property and again enjoyed our stay here. The description of the house is accurate, though can feel a bit on the small side, however, as there was only two of us, that didn't pose a problem. It is well maintained and the booking process simple. The correspondence was courteous with speedy responses. The village itself is very picturesque and the house is fairly well appointed and in a quiet location with open views to the front.

The only downside was, no wifi, which is fairly standard these days and surprised there was no freezer section in the fridge. We did bring some frozen food with us which had to be binned.

We are not ramblers but still find the location to be perfect for touring the Peak District and visiting the nearby towns, villages, country houses, etc. There is also a wealth of British industrial heritage that can be experienced only a short drive away.

We would recommend this cottage and hope to return again some time in the future.

Fantastic Cottage, great location.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this lovely cottage in Tideswell, for a week over new year. The booking process was very easy, and Wendy answered all questions promptly. The driving directions made it very simple to find, and as the keys are in a lock box, it didn't matter what time we got there, we didn't hold anyone up.

The cottage itself I think, is bigger than it looks in the pictures, the living room has two comfy sofas, and a lovely little wood burner. Nice size double bedroom room, and a small single, and a nice bathroom, with good powerful shower.

The kitchen is great, and equipped with lots of pots and pans, and various baking dishes etc, which made eating in, very simple. The dishwasher was a nice touch too.

Don't be put off by the Electric etc being added on at the end, we only spent £7 on the smart meter and it was quite cold! The logs on the other hand that we bought for the burner, cost about £20 for a week, but that is optional of course!

Great location, we had some lovely days out to Mam Tor, Lady Bower reservoir (great to cycle round, hire bikes there) and the Monsal trail. Many other things within 20/30 min drive.

We ate at the George, and Horse and Jockey in teh village, both great, and the bread from the bakery (3 min walk away) was divine. There is no wifi, but the phone reception was good, and we managed to get 3g on our phones when needed.

We would highly recommend this cottage and hope to return again soon

Owner's Response: Thank you Julie for taking the time to write this review. So pleased you liked the cottage and the village. Surprised you spent £20 on logs. I must provide better advice on where to buy them.

Just right

  • 5 of 5

Just as described in the information this cottage suited us fine. It is on the outer area of the village so no noise or traffic. It is clean, and both well equipped and maintained. It is ideal for 2 people with the 2nd bedroom as a kit room but there would be plenty of room for 3 people. The local pubs were good, the furthest being a mere 10 minute pleasant stroll through the village. Very handy for walking any part of the Peak District because it is pretty central to the area. We intend to use it again.
