Farmhouse near Josselin, Morbihan, Brittany - Peaceful rural location, easy access to south coast

The granite built farmhouse was renovated to an extremely high standard in 2008 using traditional methods and local builders. The house stands in 3300 m2 of lawned garden surrounded by fields used by the local farmer for crops. The house is within a hamlet of 6 other buildings, 3 of which are owned as holiday homes and not rented commercially. The hamlet is extremely quiet and safe for children. The surrounding countryside can be explored easily on foot or bicycle. The house is open plan downstairs with a very large working open fire, limestone flooring throughout, original oak beams, modern and well appointed kitchen and large dining area, table seating 12 to 14 under a large atrium. Four terraces surround the house. Ample parking is available next to the house and in the adjoining open barn.

Steve and Cath have owned this property since 2005 and completed the renovation in the summer of 2008. The main house was bought from Steve's parents who own the two buildings opposite the property. More details of the property can be found on www.guilleron.co.uk

Beautiful, contemporary, well equipped farmhouse.

This renovated farmhouse was beautiful both inside and out. It was very light, spacious and was a fantastic space that we thoroughly enjoyed living in for 2 weeks. It has been renovated to a very high standard and the kitchen and bathrooms were excellent. The space outside was lovely to sit out in and enjoy meals and watch the sun go down. There are wonderful walks in every direction from the house. The very high standard of this property enabled us to fully relax and enjoy a wonderful base from which to explore many different aspects of southern Brittany. Would thoroughly recommend this property to all, it couldn't be a better place to stay.

Relaxing gite break

Lovely stay at this beautiful converted farmhouse near Josselin, it was like staying in a place featured in elle deco magazine! Very equipped in the kitchen with a BBQ, games etc garden chairs and tables too. Spacious and relaxing, very quiet environment but near to picturesque towns and villages, about 45 mins to the beaches around Vannes. I would recommend this for families, those with a car, enjoy walks and the countryside!

There are numerous sandy beaches to the east and west of Vannes which are approximately 45 minutes by car. These include Carnac, Trinite-sur-mer, Erdeven and Etel to the west of Vannes and Damgan, Sarzeau and Penestin to the east. There is a beach at the Lac au Duc at Ploermel which is 15 minutes by car and where one can try water sports such as sailing, water ski-ing and kayak-ing at a reasonable price. There is also tennis available at no cost, small water slides and a bar/restaurant.


Ferry: St Malo - 75 mins; Caen - 2 1/2 hrs; Cherbourg - 2 3/4 hrs.

Airports: Rennes - 45 mins; Dinard - 1 hour; Nantes - 2 hours; Lorient - 1 1/4 hrs. Use of car is essential.


Vannes - 35 mins.

Josselin - 10 mins.

Ploermel - 15 mins.

Rennes - 45 mins.

Further Details:

All facilities available at Josselin and Ploermel. Also Guegon (5 mins by car) has a small supermarket, boulangerie, chemist and other facilities.

  • Notes on accommodation: The property is equipped with satellite TV allowing access to over 100 channels including the normal UK TV and radio channels. There is also a DVD. There is a second TV/DVD with satellite reception in the master bedroom. Broadband will be available from 10/4/12. No pets are allowed. The property is suitable for children and the area is very quiet that one rarely sees a car. There are woods nearby which can be explored on foot and the property is a few minutes walk from the inhabited chateau at Tregranteur which is a quiet but picturesque village. However there are no amenities in the village although these are available at Guegon which is only a five minute drive including small supermarket, boulangerie, chemist, bars, restaurants, and sporting amenities including tennis. Outside: Large lawned garden of 3300m2 surrounding the property. The property is surrounded by fields which are used for crops by the local farmer and sometimes the young calves are kept in a small field behind the house and visible from the dining area. Utility Room: Adjacent to kitchen with large fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble drier. Large cupboards and separate wc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property will be cleaned before arrival and guests are asked to leave it as they found it. Linen and towels are not supplied. Linen may be arranged at an additional cost.
