About the property

Enjoy a real taste of Tenerife near San Miguel de Abona, south Tenerife, quiet rural location 15-20 minutes to beaches, golf courses & airport

If you want a real Canarian experience, then come and stay in our pretty rural house on one level built from traditional stone dating approx from 1890 on the outskirts of the lovely old town of San Miguel in south Tenerife, 560 metres above sea level. The house, which sleeps a maximum of 3 people, is comfortably furnished in a rustic style with character wooden beamed ceilings and cool whitewashed walls. Its spacious layout offers 2 bedrooms (1 double, 1 single), shower room, lounge/dining room and a separate fully equipped kitchen leading from a central hallway. The house has all the home comforts you need.

Outside, our guests are able to enjoy their own enclosed private garden which is on 2 levels. The upper level has a table and 4 chairs with an umbrella plus a rustic style BBQ for alfresco dining and on the lower level are sun loungers and umbrella. There is also a plunge pool and hot tub for our guests’ sole use and the garden is south facing offering nice views to the sea, surrounding countryside and mountains. Guests have their own separate entrance so are able to come and go as they please. We're sure you'll especially enjoy the hot tub at night under the stars with a glass of something chilled by your side!

Nearest shops, banks, bakery, chemist, bars and restaurants are within walking distance in the village of San Miguel.

Car hire is recommended, although there is a bus route through the village and free parking is available nearby. La Casita Blanca is ideally situated for the coast, golf courses, countryside and mountains as the main TF-1 motorway is just a 10 minute drive away, with 15-20 minutes drive to beaches and Tenerife South airport.

La Casita Blanca is particularly suited to couples and is ideal for those seeking a relaxing holiday away from the tourist resorts as this is a quiet rural residential area. It's a perfect get-away-from-it-all honeymoon destination too. Chill out by the pool during the day and when the sun goes down, enjoy a romantic BBQ under the stars or take a stroll up to the village to sample traditional Canarian cuisine or tapas in the local restaurants, cafés and bars. End your day with a relaxing dip in the hot tub ...

If you enjoy nature and walking/hiking and cycling La Casita Blanca is especially of interest as there are excellent walking trails and cycling routes nearby. However, we also offer free wi-fi for guests who really can't switch off from the outside world!

Children not accepted as the house is not really child-friendly due to the fact that there are steps in the garden next to the pool and there is no safety barrier around the pool area. The tiles may also become slippery when wet. Cat lovers are especially welcome as we have a cat who may visit you in the garden occasionally, particularly if you're having a BBQ!

About The Owner

Your hosts have lived at the property for the past 11 years. As we live on site, we are available at all times to answer any questions or provide any assistance you may need. We speak English, some German, Spanish and a little French (improves with a drop of vino!) and very much look forward to welcoming you to La Casita Blanca and to San Miguel! We're dedicated to making your stay here memorable and if you have any special requests we'll do our utmost to fulfil them.

Why The Owner chose South Tenerife

We bought a property in San Miguel as we liked the quaintness of the village and the fact that it was situated away from the tourist areas, yet still within easy reach of them as the TF-1 motorway is just 10 minutes away. We also loved the uniqueness and character of the property with its wooden ceilings, uneven whitewashed walls and general quirkiness! We feel very lucky to live in such a historic picturesque village and also to have several excellent restaurants within walking distance or 5 minutes drive which we're happy to recommend to our guests!

What makes this cottage unique

The neighbours and local residents are very friendly and it's nice to be part of a traditional community, where you can join in local fiestas if you wish. We have potato fields next door to the property which gives it a nice rural feel, but at the same time you don't feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. The weather can also be cooler here, as we are approximately 580m above sea level, which can be more pleasant in the summer months, and we don't generally get the wind which the coastal areas often experience, just a gentle breeze.

Secluded with great facilities

La Casita Blanca. Up the hill a few minutes away from the coast in San Miguel de Abona. A secluded villa with high walls around the outside space, a beautiful retreat. Great hosts ready and willing to meet all your needs. Sure you have read about the facilities before getting here, so you can see there is everything you could wish for. The villa is just as the photos show and although they they say they have not decorated lately, it is spotless. R&C

Just awesome!!!!!

What s fabulous place for a retreat! Small yes (but more than adequate for 3) and so much more preferable than being in a large villa when there are just 2 of you. Outside space is amazing with hot tub, pool and bbq area. Inside is very well equipped and very clean / looks newly decorated. Awesome hosts available always, very friendly but incredibly discreet. Really highly recommend!!!! 6 stars.

Authentic Country Villa

We arrived in Tenerife, picked up our hire car and within 15 minutes were at the villa, following the owner's expert directions.

The villa is well placed, being a short drive from the airport and with a local bakery, supermarket and cafe (try the churros!) just a short walk away.

When we arrived, the owners showed us around and gave us a guide on how to use everything - alongside the 'blue book', which contains guides to everything from the television to the island's famous volcano, and was a really handy reference guide.

Although it was extremely hot, we were able to cool off in the pool and enjoy the hot-tub in the evening, watching the stars pass by overhead due to the lack of light pollution.

The villa was well appointed and convenient, with UK plugs available and an enormous quantity of towels for every possible situation.

As vegetarians, we were able to find a local Iceland that stocked great veggie food, and the owners were full of great recommendations for places to eat, and directions.

The owners were always available, but never intrusive - in fact, we only saw them a few times all week, despite the villa being attached to their house: once when they came to clean the hot-tub and water the plants (which they're happy to do when you're out, if needs be), and once when I managed to set off the smoke alarm with an over-enthusiastic croissant in the oven.

I'd heartily recommend a stay - the owners are lovely people, and the villa itself is that rarest of things - a place that looks just like it does in the pictures!

Recently returned from a lovely holiday at at Casita Blanca. A well equipped 'home from home' setting but with all the extra luxuries ie Pool, hot tub and private sun patio. The accommodation is a traditional rustic style one level house. Everything is clean, well maintained and very well thought through. The owners live at the adjacent property and not only provide an excellent property but also provide a wealth of information on the best places to eat and and visit . The local village is within walking distance but this encompasses some steep hills - however, we found everything we needed in San Miguel . The whole stay was very enjoyable and I couldn't recommend a more enjoyable place - we have already re-booked !!!!

Great property

This lovely stone cottage is set is a quiet village ten minutes drive from the main coastal road. The owners are very helpful, and we joined them for a visit to the carnival in the village on the night we arrived which was a great experience, local spain at its best!

The patio area is a lovely private area where you can eat, swim(if you are brave in March), sunbathe and spend a lovely end of the day in the fantastic jazuzzi.

Staying in the cottage is such a great experience and enables you to have the easy option of driving up into the mountains or down to the coast.

Winter break

A quaint canarian cottage on the outskirts of a rural village in the hills on the old link road from north to south Tenerife.

A peaceful setting away from the tourist hustle. An ideal spot for walking and touring the island. We hired a car for the duration of our stay, and this certainly recommended.

The weather was 4 degrees cooler than on the coast in January, and as the sun is lower in the sky, a warm jumper was needed as the sun set from 6.30 onwards.

The property is as advertised with the hot tub a welcome delight but the pool is certainly only for the very brave in January!

The pool doesn't have any safety barriers & may be unsafe for young children & though textured for safety, tiles can also be slippery when wet. No pets. Smoking is only permitted outside in the garden. Please note: we don’t have English channels on the TV (BBC, ITV etc), apart from some free to air channels on Sky. We have Spanish TV channels, some of which show English programmes, or the language can be changed to English if the original version was in English. This is a rural residential area & you will hear chickens clucking, cocks crowing, dogs barking etc. It all adds to the charm of the property ...
