About Fiona Erlandsen

We are a family with international flavour. Half Norwegian, half English. We have a brood of five children spanning from ages 23 to 11 years old. We rent properties that have been our families homes and have extensive experience in renting property in general. We work as hard as possible with our team to ensure you have the best holiday. If we don't think our house is what you're looking for we will suggest something else, even if it's not ours. We work in several other countries as well. Why Fiona Erlandsen chose Puerto Calero

This has been our family home for the past 7 years. We have enjoyed spending every minute in it as it's a great location. Quiet and private, not at all in the tourist regions. At the same time it's walking distance to one of the most popular areas in Lanzarote, Puerto Calero. This marina is a beautiful spot to drink, dine or sit and take a coffee and watch the world go by. Some of the best dining and outstanding views. You are really spoilt to be only a few minutes walk from this area. Enjoy chill out aperitifs or digestive at Casa Blanca bar, a quick Pizza or great steak in Papadellas. An unbelievably filling 3 course menu of the day at El tomato. Loads of activities including a great trip on the catamaran,or a spot of deep sea fishing with one of the private charters. You name it.

What makes this apartment unique

The beauty of this property is that you have the all the luxury of renting a stylish two bedroomed apartment with the advantages of the outside space of a private villa, with glorious secluded gardens, not overlooked by any neighbours. Private heated pool. Beautiful terrace and outside eating area for the price of a high quality apartment. We now live in my husband's country of origin, Norway, and spend our big holidays during summer and winter at the property. We will never be in residence whilst you are renting the property! There are no other smaller accommodation in Puerto Calero offering private pool and gardens. Only larger villas with bigger price tags, or smaller apartments overlooking the marina with only a balcony for outside space. Because all our children are competent swimmers we do not make provisions for smaller children, so we will not recommend families with children under 10 staying at the property for safety precautions. However, there is a private terrace downstairs that has no access to the pool area for smaller children to play safely and in the shade all afternoon.

Notes on accommodation: The property is perfect for couples or families with children over aged 10. We do not rent to families with children under this age due the pool not having a separate gating area. Our children have grown up here and therefore we undertook different safety precautions which are not in place now, and we know the risks of having children around a pool that is not gated off. Enjoy a meander down to get an ice cream or glass of wine in the port. The outside space is very social and great for sub-bathing, swimming, and alfresco dining all year round. On road parking outside the villa. Please feel free to help yourself to our fresh herbs in the corner of the garden. Outside: The pool is 8m x 4m and 1.5 to 2 m deep. The pool has a heater, but please make requests regarding this. Prices are €60 per week for heated pool. This is not necessary in summer but in the winter months from Nov through until April. Two sun loungers, shaded dining area and large Weber Gas BBQ. Utility Room: The solana style utility is situated outside the kitchen door at villa level. A large sink and workspace area, ideal for dumping sandy towels and rinsing bathing suits. A washing machine and washing line situated here also. Everything drys really quickly! Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels, beach towels, and linen included. Change of linen for two week booking. Mid-stay clean supplementary. Deposit of €200 charged as cash on arrival and returned in cash on departure at point of check out. Other: The apartment is well proportioned, light and airy and to a very high specification. Brand new kitchen and bathroom. We have spent the time getting it right so that you can enjoy the merits of our efforts.

Had a great holiday, the apartment was very well presented and having the use of the facilities of the villa made our stay even more enjoyable. Loved the area and would definitely consider returning.

Owner was really responsive and helpful prior to paying for the holiday, after payment I recieved no communication I messaged 2 days before leaving to receive no response, we expected to be greeted on arrival for Carla to take our deposit and tell us about the area as stated on the website although she never showed up which was abit of the pain as we would have liked some information, we arrived very late in the evening to find no drinking water or any essentials, although this was not meant to be included it would have been nice to not have to go out so late to buy water.We had to pay astronomical prices for water at the restaurant as the only local supermarket was shut We went in February although the temperature was very hot (22c) the apartment was freezing at night and there were no heaters at all! So bring a jacket the tv was very good offering a lot of channels and movies but has really bad connection and is for ever buffering. Inside the apartment there were a lot of signs stating if you do this or do that it will effect the return of your deposit which we didn’t feel was very welcoming.The first bedrooms blind is so far from the window, this woke up my elderly parents at sun rise every morning which Isnt the best if you like a lay in. The slabs by the pool where broken and my dad managed to fall in the dark and cut his leg. The apartment is in a nice location but you will need to travel for excursions and big shopping areas ect. The beach is not 0.5 away the MARINA is 0.5 miles away on foot the beach is about a 50 minute walk to Puerto de Carmen which is a pain if you don’t have a car. The villa was lovely and clean and well equipt (apart from a heater!) on departure Carla had arrived at 12 and had stated we should have left at 10 but as the owner did not get back to me we were still there, she then requested pool heating money that we had payed already ! Also after saying we should have left at 10 ? communication was not the best. Overall lovely weather views and peaceful area. Needs improvements.

Owner's Response: Dear Gemma, Thank you for your review, its always important to get feedback, so we can better ourselves. Unfortunately, because you chose to book outside of the Owners Direct booking system to save yourself money, you perhaps didn't read the listing about the property correctly. That being the case you missed out on arrival information and local recommendations automatically sent prior to arrival. I am sorry but I do not supply any essentials or drinking water, mainly because I know of other rental owners who do supply them, and end up throwing away everything at the end of each week because new guests don't want to use other people's used products. I will start from now on to leave a bottle of drinking water, so those arriving late will be able to have something to drink. So great point Thanks! Moving on, with regards to the temperature of the apartment, if you had contacted either myself or my cleaning lady she would have supplied you with a heater. The apartment is supplied with blankets for the winter months. Lanzarote is an all year round destinations, but not the tropics and evening temperatures do drop. We do have wooden floors, not freezing tiles which helps in the winter. Unfortunately, the week you were there wasn't blessed with good weather. The Bandalux blinds have been fitted by their recommended people on the Island & accommodate both the tilt & opening of the window. There is plenty of lighting outside the apartment and pool and terrace areas for returning home during the night time. As mentioned in our first conversation, there is a rocky beach 500 metres walk away between the two hotels in Puerto Calero. I never received the email that you sent on the Friday evening before departure on the saturday. Its only since reading the review that I found it in my spam box. There is one notice regarding the very important matter of not putting anything down the toilet other than toilet paper. Many guests previously have blocked the drains, and the following guests pay the inconvenience of us having to fix it. We politely ask people not to throw facial wipes in the toilet for this reason. I did explain on the phone that sandy beaches are 5 minutes drive in the car/ taxi. We always hope to fulfil needs when guests are on holiday, but can only do so if guests communicate with us during situ. We are customer service orientated and always want to meet our customer needs. weeks stay at puerto calero apartment

Our first time using owners direct and from the first contact to our departure this has been the easiest holiday to arrange and by far the best property we have stayed at. The pictures and details about the apartment were exactly as described, the instructions given how to find it couldn't have been simpler, we were greeted on arrival and told where we could find everything both in the apartment and also locally, very helpful . Situated perfectly for visiting popular areas around the island or staying in just lounging by the pool . The pool was lovely ,our only task pulling back the heat cover before jumping in the bright blue clean water. There was a book with help numbers if needed, details about switches, the shower (lovely) and any local events we might want to see. I booked here looking for a restful holiday and got just that and will be telling our friends about the property knowing they would enjoy it as much as we did. many Thanks, Mr & Mrs Curtis

Excellent villa, with comfortable interior and beautiful pool and outdoor area.

The villa is handy for the harbour front restaurants and shops and has lovely views to the east and west from the poolside. We enjoyed eating by the pool in the shade. The villa was very well stocked with kitchen ware and the bedrooms were comfortable. We felt very much at home and would recommend the villa with its private pool.

Fantastic apartment!

We have holidayed in peurto calero before with friends in a large villa and were keen to return but with only the 4 of us travelling this apartment was the perfect solution

The apartment was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean perfectly placed in peurto calero a short walk to the marina

We hired a car and there is a large supermarket nearby that you can stock up on all essentials

Communication with the owner is second to non as after boarding the aircraft I realised I had forgotten the address of villa it was immediately emailed to me thank goodness!!!

Would most definitely recommend this stunning apartment and we already have plans to return!

Quality Accomodation

Very private apartment in upmarket area of Lanzarote. Quality fittings, spacious and modern. Would definitely recommend and would return. Only reason only 4 stars given because as the apartment is below and to the side of the main villa it is a little dark in the evening and its own private patio area doesn't get much sun. However we were able to use the main villas patio and pool with sun all day and great views. The kitchen and bathrooms look brand new and the whole apartment is immaculately clean. Great communications with owners - they advised us on restaurants, car hire etc very promptly and their recommendations were excellent in our opinion. The marina is a 5 minute walk with plenty of good and varied restaurants. Upmarket designer shops and a supermarket which is reasonably priced. However as we had a car we went to a large supermarket a few miles away for a weekly shop and this worked out much cheaper.

The maintenance team and owners did turn up unannounced twice inside the main villa which was a little unsettling as although we could hear them - alarm going off etc we could not see anyone as the main villa has closed blinds and we weren't sure if there was a break in until they introduced themselves. The plot next door is being developed but we didn't see/hear any activity when we were there and you can only see it if you actively search it out or when pulling up outside the property. All in all thoroughly recommended.

Our house is situated a 5 minute walk down hill to the rocky beaches and ocean of the marina in Puerto Calero. There are steps into the sea here, so you can swim no problem. Nearest sandy beaches are in Puerto Del Carmen five minutes by car. Although, we can recommend other better beaches, just ask! The marina is perfect for kids to fish and to go rock pooling, snorkelling. In the marina are a number of high quality excursions including the catamaran, or the submarine trip.


The airport is 15 minutes by car. There's a taxi rank in the port that where you can organise collections and pick ups to go to the airport. A taxi is only licensed for 4 people and cannot or will not carry more than this even if they are kids. Two taxis to the airport will not cost more than €25 combined. We advise car hire although it's not essential here in Puerto Calero as you have everything walking distance.


The marina is 5 minutes walk down hill. Small children get tired walking up the hill! 5 minutes drive is Macher where the Eurospa supermarket is. Fresh meat and fish counter and deli. Good value with a great selection of wines. Puerto Del Carmen is situated 5 minutes by car. You are also only five minutes drive to La Geria and all the wine bodegas. A definite trip out. Only 15 minutes drive to Playa Blanca, twenty minutes to Famara beaches, and La Santa for surfing.

Further Details:

Nearest cash point is in the Marina only five minutes walk. The spa at the Iberostar hotel is open to the public and €18 a circuit. They have a wide variety of other treatments. You can enjoy cocktails in the marina, wide selection of restaurants. There's also a whole host of other information we can provide for you to make sure you have the insider local knowledge before you get here.
