Light And Spacious Penthouse With Panoramic Sea Views 2 Terraces & parking

Updated: 19-Jul-2016
Penthouse in Cabanas, East Algarve,Unique Location, 50m From Seafront With Private Parking. 2 Beds, Ensuite & Shower

Acknowledged by the locals, as possibly the finest apartment in old Cabanas, it was completed to a very high standard in 2010. It is in an exclusive small block of only 4, 1 bed apartments, with the double size penthouse being right across the top. There is a 7m gated swimming pool exclusive to residents, and a garage for private parking, both of which are set back from the street behind security gates. Good restaurants, friendly cafes and small shops are only a short stroll away, and the little ferry that runs across to the beach all day is just opposite. The whole of the seafront, including the road and pavements, has been renovated with calcadas (like cobbles), for the enjoyment of visitors, and there is a new boardwalk all along the front, just above the water, allowing people to observe the boats while out of the path of cars.

About the Owner

I like to keep busy and enjoy meeting people. I did B&B for 9 years in our Hampshire barn, taught English to French businessmen one to one, and organise and run Garden Tours for groups of French speaking visitors. Although my husband normally flies, I usually drive to and from Portugal, and am always adding to and changing the furnishing details, keeping the property fresh and interesting. The apartment feels like home from home. Having had a large family I am used to making a home welcoming and comfortable and enjoy renting our lovely holiday home to others.

We arrived in Cabanas, opened the door and found heaven. The pictures don't do it justice, the space, all the little touches, the privacy, the view! We haven't felt this relaxed in a long time.

The perfect mini break. Definitely 10/10. The apartment is fantastic, views magnificent and the village is a delight, thank you.

The natural beauty of the location made this our best holiday ever. We felt we could gaze on the shimmering view endlessly and not bother stepping out of the apartment!

We have stayed in many luxurious penthouse apartments but when we opened the front door the 4 of us just said WOW! This is the only holiday where we wanted to stay longer and felt quite at home.

We can't find words which describe this amazing place......paradise cannot be better!

What a wonderful apartment, spectacular views and Cabanas is just to die for. Fantastic for families and even kept our 2 teenage daughters entertained!

The best in cabanas

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in many places in cabanas and this is the best, it's the first apartment that we have not needed to go out and buy extra glasses or cleaning equipment...everything is there..

Luxury on the seafront....

Owner's Response: Thank you for being so appreciative. The apartment is furnished as our second home and not as a holiday let, which makes a great difference. We want our visitors to relax in comfort during their holiday. Obrigada

Exceptional !

  • 5 of 5

An exceptional apartment with a wonderful view from the large terrace. Great effort has gone into providing every comfort for guests. It is spacious, tastefully furnished and spotless.

Cabanas offers all the facilities you might need for a great holiday. The lovely beach has acres of space and you may be lucky enough to spot a couple of dolphins, as we did !

Our thanks to the owner, who was always easy to contact and very helpful in all communications.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. Actually we are lucky enough to attract guests who are both observant and appreciative which is all we could ask for. Cabanas, with it's traditional village atmosphere offers everything, and now Dolphins too, how magical! .

Great Place.

  • 5 of 5

We spent three and a half weeks in this apartment in Cabanas and couldn't find a single fault with it!! It was all very clean and well maintained and was even better than it looked in the photos. Lindy, the owner was very helpful beforehand and provided plenty of useful information about local facilities etc.

The terrace with the fabulous view was lovely for breakfast and lunch every day, a bit cool in the evening in January to be outside eating, but no problem as inside the apartment is well furnished and the kitchen caters for the needs of even the most enthusiastic cook. All sorts of spices, herbs etc in the cupboard. Not like some places where there is not even a salt shaker to be found.

We made great use of the Ecovia cycle track which runs mainly along the coast from both sides of the village. It goes through the salt marshes towards Tavira where there are lots of more unusual birds to see. Good for walking as well as cycling. Easy and inexpensive to catch a train from the village.

All in all a great holiday destination, staying in a wonderful, well cared for apartment. We certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to friends and would return ourselves if in the area again.

Prepare to be spoilt

  • 5 of 5

The only problem with this apartment is that nowhere else will ever measure up! The view is breathtaking! The apartment is luxurious and has everything! The resort is absolutely charming and the surrounding areas are well worth a visit. Once you have been I guarantee you will return again and again. We have been 3 times now and on 3 very different holidays, but this apartment will suit everyone. If you have small children the pool is safe and secure, as is the beach. There is plenty to do for older children as the resort is very family orientated. Last year we took our daughter and her friend (18 years old) and they loved it as they felt safe going out for a cocktail and enjoying themselves and we were happy they would be perfectly safe too. This year it was just the two of us and it was pure heaven. If you hire a car and follow the owners recommendations you will have the perfect holiday.

Heaven on Earth

  • 5 of 5

We picked this apartment for it's position in Cabanas and also for its assumed quality. It was not as described - it was even better!!! No amount of photos or words could do justice to everything about this apartment. We have stayed in so called luxury apartments before but this must set the standard for which all others are judged. Everything was quality from the superb cooks kitchen, the crockery, furnishings, outdoor furniture, the barbecue, the view. Oh we could go on and on and on. Although we didn't use it as the sun shone every day the owners have installed broadband Wi-Fi to enable you to watch British TV through your laptop etc connected to the TV through an HDMI cable. This is because Sky TV is no longer available in the Algarve and southern Spain. All done at their cost which is pretty amazing. Cabanas is a million miles from the noisy resorts of the western Algarve. It is small, peaceful, has no high rise rubbish, and some great restaurants. The beach is reached by water taxis at 1 euro and 50 cents return. The jetty was about 2 minutes from the apartment and the trip takes 2 or 3 min. Then you walk across the decking above the nature reserve and there's the beach: soft golden sand with sunbeds and parasols & a stunningly situated beach bar. It was never ever crowded. Claire, Lindy's daughter told us about a village up in the hills called Alcoutim. We had hired a car and would never have chanced upon it ourselves but it is so pretty. It was separated from Spain by a river which was easily accessible via the water taxis. It is well worth a visit. We also went west to the beach at Martinhal with it's turquoise water, then carried on to Cape Saint Vincent - Europe's most south westerly point. En route back we lazed on the lovely beach at Praia da Luz. Tavira a very pretty town is just a few miles from Cabanas with a large shopping centre and giant supermarket. Thanks to Claire we found the small supermarket on the main road just as you turn down towards Cabanas not only much nearer but also cheaper with a great selection of fresh meat as well as the usual provisions. In conclusion. Ever been in an apartment where the owners have just thrown in cast offs from their own home & cheap anything will do? Yes, us too. Not so here, This is their home when they are in Portugal and it shows in every small exquisite detail. From the initial enquiry we were dealt with speed and warmth. If only all owners were this good! Brilliant holiday! We will be back!

From the Owner

In November 2009 we went for a short break to Portugal as the weather was so good at the time. Having passed a few estate agents windows we decided to look at a couple of properties around Cabanas as Tony loves the sea and enjoys boating and sea fishing. Most of the flats were rather small and dark but we finally found this half finished small block with an amazing penthouse across the top. One look at the view sold it to us and the generous size of the sitting room and terraces just confirmed our decision. My daughter and family live near Loule, restaurants and cafes are really close and Cabanas has the alternative feel of a traditional fishing village It is charming and the Portuguese people are so welcoming and helpful, I am even trying to learn the language, helped by grandchildren!

The Cabanas beach is on an island just across the lagoon from the village, that is part of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, and is reached by little ferries and water taxis that run all day till 7.00pm. There is a small cafe, a kite surfing school, WC and showers, and parasols and sun beds to rent. The beach is soft golden sand and is 3kms long.

Faro airport is about 40 minutes drive. Car hire is not essential as you can reach the village by public transport or taxi and it is easy to move around locally by bus or train. However we would recommend car hire in order to explore the interior and perhaps enjoy a meal at one of the restaurants in the hills.

Tavira is a very attractive old town, (originally Roman)with many interesting shops and some beautiful old buildings. Cross the fine old stone bridge, stroll along the cobbled quays and pause for a drink by the river. Visit Spain and spend a day in Seville, 90 mins drive away. Or just go to Vila Real Santo Antonio and sip a drink by the harbour and look at Spain across the Guardiana river. Going west, Fuzeta is a charming small seaside town and Olhao has the most fantastic fish market. A must.

Further Details:

All the shops you need can be found in Cabanas including a chemist. However there are good supermarkets nearby, one on the roundabout going towards Tavira on the 125 and a very large Continente in the shopping Plaza on the road into Tavira.

From the Owner

The main attraction of the apartment is the quality of the building and the furnishings, being furnished more like a home than a holiday let. It is very comfortable, and there is a lot of space, especially outside. It is extremely convenient for everything, particularly the boats to the beach, yet is quiet and private and not overlooked. The underground garage is great for parking securely in the shade, out of the way of the day visitors. The stunning view of the Ria Formosa is addictive, watching both the tide and the little boats coming in and out, there is always something happening encouraging you just to sit and watch in comfort! Even in winter, Cabanas is a popular and reasonably priced alternative to rainy and dark Northern Europe. Have a look at our rates for 2+ & 4+ weeks.
