Light, fabulous, penthouse set in a manicured garden for those who enjoy their comforts while having a peaceful holiday. Beautifully furnished in a contemporary style with full air conditioning. Absolutely perfect for a leisurely breakfast or an evening drink watching the sunset. The complex is small, so the large pool area and childrens pool never feels crowded. I live in Swindon, Wiltshire with my partner Sean and daughter Victoria. My partner and I both work extremely long hours running our own business. For us to buy a penthouse in picturesque Tavira to relax in our rare spare time has always been a dream. We were fortunate to be able to purchase our penthouse and it is everything we could have wished for. As this is our pride and joy, it is a pleasure to share our home with clients. We pride ourselves on having furnished it to a high standard for everybody to enjoy and be comfortable in. Notes on accommodation: The penthouse has full air conditioning (including bedrooms) which is operated by remote control. The units convert to heaters during the winter. There is no extra charge or restricted times for air conditioning or heating. Electric shutters to all windows. Hairdryers supplied. Beach furniture, cool box and parasol supplied for your days out at the unbelievable beaches. The complex is enclosed with fencing and gates and therefore safe for children. For the benefit of all our guests the penthouse remains at all times a smoke free zone. Our penthouse is licensed by the Camara Municipal de Tavira Register No: 3742/AL. This means that it has been inspected and complies with their safety regulations which includes gas certificate, electric certificate, fire precautions, first aid kit etc. Internet service is provided free of charge . Our aim is for you to have a fantastic holiday and we will do our utmost to make sure everything runs smoothly. Outside: Beautiful manicured communal gardens with shared pool. Decking area with sun loungers and parasols. Seating areas in various parts of the gardens. The illuminated swimming pools and gardens are very glamorous in the evenings. Ideally, retire to the huge private roof terrace and view the mountains and sea with a cool drink and watch the sun go down. Roof terrace has dining table and chairs, gas BBQ, four sunloungers and is perfectly safe for children. Utility Room: Separate utility room overlooking courtyard with sink, washing machine/tumble dryer, iron, ironing board and cleaning equipment. Washing airer on roof terrace to dry washing. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Meet and greet on arrival by Dulce from Homekeys. Penthouse is cleaned to a high standard prior to guests arrival. Additional cleaning on request. High quality bed linen and towels included. Cots, car seats, high chairs etc, can be hired. Other: Marble staircase leading from living room to roof terrace. The large private secluded roof terrace is ideal for dining al fresco, bbq, sunbathing, or just switching off with a good book and a glass of local wine. Entrance hall has video entry system

Perfect base for a sunny holiday

We cannot think of anything needing improvement in this property. It was very clean, very well equipped with anything we could want and the space was really well planned. The roof terrace was brilliant - sun and shade as required whatever the time of day, and the big communal pool was just down a few steps. The apartment was a short walk from town where we found plenty of bars, restaurants, museums, a park and shops - all good for leisurely morning or evening strolls. The river side was really picturesque. We really liked the Barril beach to walk along. It is a short drive away on Ilha de Tavira (or can be reached by local bus). The apartment was also a good base for drives to the hills and nearby towns. The town seemed to organise quite a few social activities as well - one Sunday there was a community exercise event, on another a Spring Festival. The short Fado performance was interesting. We'd love to return!

Did not disappoint - highly recommended

We stayed here as a family in September 2016, (apologies for the delayed review). This penthouse apartment came highly recommended and did not disappoint.

It is a lovely apartment, situated in a perfect spot overlooking the pool from the lounge and balcony. A double room and a twin room with the sofa bed in the lounge made it ideal for 5 people. The master has its own en-suite and the family bathroom served our other family members. It is decorated and furnished to a very high standard and was spotlessly clean. The large roof terrace was ideal for private sunbathing and outdoor dining.

The walk to town took us about 10 minutes and we found we did this a couple of times a day. If you want to explore further you probably would want to hire a car but we were happy walking into Tavira and taking the waterbus over to the beautiful clean and sandy beach. This beach area had it’s own bars, restaurants and amenities so perfect to stay there as long as you want to. On the odd occasion we got a taxi back it was easy to get one and only cost around 6-7 euros. Tavira itself has lots of great restaurants and bars to choose from and the town came alive in the evenings.

This apartment had absolutely everything you could need including wi-fi, sun loungers and the BBQ on the roof terrace.

Thank you Gail for letting us share your holiday home and thank you for all the information you provided to make our family holiday a wonderful one. I will definitely recommend it and can't wait to return.

Wonderful apartment

This was our first visit to Gail's apartment and we weren't disappointed. The apartment is fresh and modern and caters for all your needs. The complex is beautiful and very clean. The roof terrace is amazing and so are the views. Dine Alfresco some evenings using the gas BBQ and watch the sun go down. The swimming pool is the perfect size and is open from 9am – 10pm. There are sun loungers on the roof terrace and also by the pool, but these became scarce as more holidaymakers arrived.

Tavira is simply beautiful. During the day the side streets are quiet and empty, but of an evening tables and chairs appear, as do singers and entertainment. There are so many hidden bars and restaurants, not only in the town, but also in the square and down towards the ferry. I can highly recommend Brisa do Rio and O’Castelo, but you will need to book a few days in advance.

The beach is also beautiful. During peak season the ferry operates from 10am – midnight and runs every 30 minutes. Tickets are 2 euros return. We booked one-way tickets and took a Water-taxi (speed boat) back. The water-taxi charges 18 euros per boat/trip. The beach is very clean, sand golden and crystal water. You can hire a large thatched parasol with two sun loungers for 12 euros. This is done at the Xiri beach bar. The beach bar also has a large selection of drinks and snacks available at very reasonable prices. There are a number of bars and restaurants also available and they were very busy during lunch time.

We didn’t hire a car and would walk into town of an evening and get a taxi back. Taxi was 6 euros. There are plenty of taxis of an evening, but scarce during the day.

Tavira town has two very small supermarkets and are only good for water, wine and beer. There are two Ping Dulce supermarkets. One is situated at the far end of town (down past taxi rank and petrol station) and is a fifteen minute walk. We did struggle getting a taxi back at times. The other is situated on the other side of the main road (exit complex, walk over road bridge and next to round-a-bout) and is a five minute walk (if only I had known this earlier!). Ping Dulce will have everything you need and has a large and extensive fish and meat counter (ideal for the BBQ!). Wine is plentiful and very cheap.

A wonderful apartment in a wonderful location

Our friends have been speaking about this lovely apartment in the delightful Tavira for a few years now and we finally made the decision to go - and boy, are we glad we did!

The apartment itself is in a good location, not far from the restaurants and bars (and churches and museums) of Tavira - far enough to stay quiet but close enough for a leisurely walk.

Inside, tasteful and modern furnishings adorn the apartment, which really gives a feel of luxury for this well maintained and clean property. The best part for us (aside from the 2 bathrooms!) - the secluded roof terrace. From one side there's views over the pool towards the sea and the other rolling nearby hills and orchards. This was also ideal for having a BBQ on in the sun thanks to the gas grill provided.

Tavira itself has a riches of activities, bars and restaurants. The short trip by boat to the island beach is well worth the 1.90 Euro return fare and there is plenty for those who crave some local culture to get their teeth into, including the extraordinary live Fado (Portuguese folk music) performance which shouldn't be missed for the sake of 5 Euros and 30 minutes of your time. There are no clubs (which we were happy about) but if you fancy a few late drinks accompanied by live music then the Irish Bar - aka the Black Anchor - is the place to go. They also do great food and we'd particularly recommend the fish and chips. Other recommended places would be the restaurant O Patio, which was superb in every way, and the cocktail bar Arcada, which is where my fiance ended up dragging me every night so she could sample more of their delicious concoctions. Not that I was complaining! The locals were all friendly and the relaxed vibe of the whole place was exactly what we needed in order to escape our busy work life.

My fiance and I loved this place and we'll surely be back sooner rather than later. We've already recommended it to many of our friends and will continue to do so. I'm not sure why though, as it'll only make it more difficult for us to get our own dates! :)

Beautiful elegantly furnished Penthouse

Gail was so helpful with our holiday stay, telling us where to find the best restaurants, villages and beaches to visit.

On arrival we were met by her meet and greet lady and shown how everything worked. There were essentials placed in the Penthouse for us, including a bottle of wine! The house was absolutely spotless.

Gail even arranged for us to have wi-fi and all television channels for the week. It seemed that whatever we wanted, Gail would arrange. As we were only carrying hand luggage it was great to have beach chairs and towels, umbrellas, cool bags, picnic things, hair dryer, hair straighteners, toothbrush charger and other useful items supplied.

I was amazed at how spotlessly clean the pool and gardens are kept. As the properties on this development are all privately owned it is a very quiet laid back place to stay and relax.

It is a ten minute walk to Tavira centre so we did not need to hire a car.

I would certainly love to stay in this Penthouse again and thank you Gail for sharing this dream home.

What a find this was! The apartment was everything we expected and more, as well as being immaculate and well furnished. The weather was very changeable while we were there, so we spent some time on the roof terrace. It was great to be able to run upstairs onto the terrace between showers, to have breakfast, or have a glass or two of wine in the evening. We didn't use the pool, (bit too cool for us oldies) but lots of other people did.

Yes, there are lots of steps down to the town, but we didn't find it a problem and the only time we used a taxi was for the "big" grocery shop.

Tavira is a delightful city, with lots of historical interest. We found the small "city train" great for getting our bearings, and Tavira is easy to walk around. The Island is spectacular and we walked for miles on the almost empty beaches. We ate out every night, and chose a different restaurant each night. We were never disappointed but recommend O'Patio for something special

Gail was so helpful and friendly from the first contact, and really did go the extra mile. (She even sent treats for my dog who had been very ill - who else would have been so thoughtful?)

We would recommend Gail's apartment without reservation, and thank her for giving us the opportunity to stay in her beautiful Tavira home.
