The Watermill Suffolk - 2 Hours from London

Overview

Property

Updated: 20-Nov-2016
The Watermill in Ixworth, near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk - Luxury Secluded House by a Millpond and River

The Watermill is a Grade II Star Listed, five bedroom house in Suffolk, two hours from London. It is set on a private island and is secluded and literally surrounded by water and wildlife. There is a three acre garden, a disused watermill and stables, and a walled garden. The house is beautifully furnished and decorated and overlooks the millpond and river. There are 5 bedrooms and accommodation for up to 10 people. The village is 5 minutes walk and has two pubs, a traditional butcher, a restaurant, cafe, fish and chips, and a general store. Suffolk is famous for Constable and Gainsborough, old churches and villages, big skies and as being one of the driest and sunniest counties in Britain.

Accessibility:

The Watermill has steep, twisting and uneven stairs. There is deep unfenced water within feet of the house. There are dangerous structures within the grounds.

It is not suitable for the disabled and children must be kept under supervision at all times.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mill. It was as if we'd been transported into our dream, rural idyll. The ridiculously gorgeous, chocolate box house with the punt outside the back door only fed our fantasy further. Peace and tranquility in a stunning setting. If the chickens are there then the kids will love collecting the eggs too!”

Gaby Roslin

"I can't think of a more enchanted summer evening than sitting

outside the Mill, gazing across the water lilies on the pond to the beautiful island beyond."

Martha Kearney

“‘Beautiful, tranquil and relaxing, a great house and a great setting. I love staying there.”
