About the property

3 bedrooms + 1 studio apart villa for 7 with private pool & large garden

Our house is located in the outskirts of the village of Luynes which is part of Aix-en-Provence, the historical capital of Provence. Aix is a beautiful and lively city, an artistic centre and a seat of learning. Whether you are looking for great food, culture, nightlife or history - this old Roman city has it all.

Our old stone house under the sun of Provence is surrounded by olive trees, oaks, pines, and lavender bushes. Tranquility and serenity within very close proximity to a wide range of activities. The house is 160 square meters, with a wonderful sunny terrace adjoining the ground floor, making a huge living area. Ideally located: 10 minutes drive from downtown Aix, 25 minutes from Marseille Provence International Airport. 10 minutes to AIX -TGV train station. It's a 30 minute drive to take a dip in the Mediterranean, and within walking distance there are fun hikes in the surrounding forrest for those who want stretch their legs.

About Nadine Giese

I am french, my husband is American, we are in our 60's and after many years living elsewhere, I needed to have a place in France I could call "Home" and have my children find their own french roots. We found "La Bergerie" and loved it right away and everything about it is only happiness! I have been a photographer for 20 years and I still enjoy to grab my cameras and go hunting for this picture that makes my day. We have a nursery and plant business and I developed through this experience a wonderful relationship with the natural environment. I love skiing, hiking and yoga. I spend time with photography, painting, and mosaic.

Nadine Giese purchased this villa in 1999

Why Nadine Giese chose Aix-en-Provence

With our children, we lived in this house from 1999 to 2001. The purpose then, was to give the opportunity to our kids to be exposed to the French language and cultural environment. The children walked from the house to school, through the pine and oak woods. The school, CIPEC is an English/French primary school, was excellent for my son who became fluent in French and could keep learning in English as-well. Of course, we fell in love with this part of France and kept this charming house where we reunite from time to time. It is always wonderful to be in Provence, this old renovated bergerie has got a very specious atmosphere and real Provencal flavour. Hope you enjoy your stay there and let those old stone walls whisper their stories.

What makes this villa unique

The location of the house is exceptional. Very private, almost hidden, but yet very easy to get to the heart of Aix en Provence in a 10 minutes drive. The Village of Luynes is within walking distance where you will find all basic shops and services (supermarket, boulangerie, patissier, pharmacy etc). Two very large shopping centres are less than 10 minutes from the house. Provencal farmers and artisinal markets twice a week in all towns and villages. Marseille-Provence airport is a 20 minute drive and AIX TGV Train station a 15 minute drive. From the house, we can hike and bike there is very good and well marked itineraries. It will take only 25 to 40 minutes drive to get to the nice beaches. In a 1 hour and half drive you are in the Alps and near the winter ski resorts. Barcelona is a 5 hour drive, and Italy 2 and a half.

Our home in Provence. Loved it.

Stayed in this villa over christmas with the family and loved it. We wanted to be close to Aix but also have our own privacy. The house is surrounded by pine forrest with no visible neighbours. The kids loved running around in the woods. Super spacious, very clean and had everything we needed - top notch kitchen, living room area, terrace area. If it were summer we would have spent some time in the pool!

Would definitely recommend it, and might come back in the spring for a cooking class in Aix En Provence! No unpleasant surprises, we had a great time.

We spent a lot of time in Aix-en-provence, and we were only a 10 min drive away so that was great. Loved the little hikes in the woods around the house too.
