There are six apartments and one town house, sharing the private swimming pool and lawns plus there is parking. Tastefully furnished 2 bedroom ground floor apartment, constructed 5 years ago. Nestling above the small but lively resort of Almirida with blue flag sandy beach, water-sport, small harbour and waterside Tavernas. This peaceful location with olive trees surrounding and mountains can be seen in the background is a 5 min walk to the local supermarket and resort centre.

About Melanie A'Court

We agreed to purchase the apartment offplan in2007 and completed the aquistion in April 2009.

We chose Crete due to it's history and many interesting sites to explore. Almirida is also a quiet resort but within easy reach of the Venetian harbour town of Chania.

Once purchased we acquired most of the main furniture from local suppliers in nearby Kalives to our personal taste.

The apartment is occupied by family and friends for holidays but also available to paying guests. We endeavour to keep the accommodation in excellent condition in order that everyone can enjoy their stay in Crete.

Notes on accommodation: The apartment is fully air-conditioned plus it can be used for heating in the cooler months. There is a digital safe installed in the double bedroom. Apartment will be ready from 15.00pm Please vacate on departure day 11.00am Outside: Lawns around the apartment are kept to a very high standard the pool is cleaned on a regular basis. There are patios both to front and rear leading to the pool, with sun loungers and patio tables and chairs for your use. Utility Room: Clothes airer and pegs. Iron and ironing board. Child's high chair Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Clean sheets and towels are provided. For any rentals over 7 days there is a change of linen.

Lovely apartment, beautiful resort

We have just got back from a 10 day stay at this apartment. The apartment was spotlessly clean, spacious, beautiful private garden and patio area. The pool was great and is shared, but we were very rarely in their together, so at times it seemed like our own private pool.

The resort and beach are 10 mins walk away. There are some great tavernas, Psaros and Costanita our favourites, but everywhere is good and right by the sea, for lovely fews especially at sunset. Great bakery just down from the apartment, where we made daily trips to. If you have breakfast at costanita, you get your sun beds and water included on the beach!

We took the bus to Ghania a couple of nights, which is well worth a visit.

All in all can't say enough good things, great family holiday will definitely be returning.

Not quite our expectation with a few issues

We booked the apartment for our honeymoon and unfortunately on arrival there were a few issues.

Firstly the apartment seemed a bit unclean. There was dust on most of the surfaces and on all of the floors and there was quite a strong musty smell throughout the apartment, in particular in the cupboards and fridge. The bathrooms also had a bit of grime build up on the floors, close to where the shower drains were and there was quite a strong smell of sewage.

The most significant problem though was there was no running water. Water shortages and power shortages seem to be quite common in the area - it is mentioned in the visitors book (which we weren't aware of). We arrived mid afternoon and were told (by a neighbour) that it should be back on by the evening. Unfortunately this was not the case and after a discussion with the building manager, the following morning, it was unknown when it was going to be fixed. So we decided to stay somewhere else. We were informed that the water supply was in the process of being switched to a permanent supply during the week of our stay and therefore this problem should have been completely solved by the end of the week.

We notified Owners Direct and the owner was quick to get in touch. She was very apologetic and was very quick to give us a full refund, so we are very grateful for that and believe she demonstrated excellent customer service!

Almyrida bay was really pleasant and there were lots of nice Tavernas!

Owner's Response: My husband visited our apartment 11th May - 18th May 2017 to check everything was in order for future guests in his opinion it was in good clean order with no smell of sewerage. Surely if the apartment was in such a state then we as owners would rectify these issues as family members enjoy holidays at the apartment too. As Crete can create a lot of dust and with a strong wind what would have been cleaned and prepared in the morning for arrival would be just unfortunate to have a layer of dust settle . Unfortunately the water issue is out of our hands and we rely on the Greek water authorities to connect us to mains water promptly. The Lady who takes care of our apartment was very upset with these comments as this has not happened before . I feel in our defence this was one unfortunate incident and the comments were a little unfair

Lovely spacious apartment with a great location

The apartment met our expectations and was lovely and spacious, clean and well equipped. The patio and grass area were perfect for meals and sunbathing and were quite private. The pool area was fabulous with a beautiful view of Almyrida bay. We did however find that sometimes the pool was overcrowded when it was in use by all apartments. The location was ideal with just a short walk to the shops, restaurants and beach. We would definitely reccommend this apartment for a family holiday.

Lovely accommodation and very convenient.

The apartment is excellent, a lovely spacious lounge with sliding doors onto the patio which has a large table with chairs where we had lunch a few times. The patio is lovely and private with a grassed area for sun bathing this leads to the pool. We did have a hire car which stayed on the allotted space but as the apartment is so convenient the car was unnecessary, the beach and many lovely restaurants which were really only a 5 minute walk away. We loved the complimentary Raki most of the restaurants gave at the end of the evening. Highly recommend the apartment.

A really great family holiday........

Clean and spacious with excellent air conditioning (a must, especially at night!) Kitchen is well equipped and the whole place is thoughtfully decorated.

At first we were a little disappointed that the patio was in the shade, but this turned out to be a brilliant thing, as it was hot!!

The pool and gardens are very nicely kept and very clean, and have gorgeous views over the resort.

Location wise it is superb - a genuine 5 mins to the beaches and tavernas, and only a slight incline, which helps burn off some of the feta!

If we were being picky, the bathrooms are small, and we're not fans of wet rooms - but there are two of them and the showers are really fine.

Not over crowded around the pool at all, even though we were there in August.

Resort is perfect for families, lots of choice, but safe, friendly and quiet.

A great base for a holiday - wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Fantastic apartment !

We have just returned from a week in this apartment and what a lovely apartment it is. Everything you could need and is perfectly situated 5 min walk from shops bars and tavernas.

Melanie was very helpful and quick to answer any question I had, I can't recommend staying here enough as we were sad to leave and wished we had another week.

A must is a visit to Chania as this is a beautiful place to visit and horse riding in Georgiopoli was amazing !

Can't wait to return!

Direct flights from UK London Gatwick and Manchester to Chania airport which is 45 min-drive to the apartment.

Further Details:

Crete has a variety of beautiful scenery including undeveloped pennisulas which are ideal for walkers, spectacular gorges or traditional Greek villages. Near by is the Venetian town of Chania and it's beautiful harbour. There are ancient archaeological sites throughout the island.
