Close to Beach and Level Walking Distance to Harbour and Restaurants

Town centre location with parking for 8 cars. Large light and airy house benefitting from maximum sunshine.

Two large lounges, one with open fire; dining room seats 16, with small conservatory offering views of the terrace; large kitchen with farmhouse style seating; utility room with super size washing machine and tumble dryer. 8 bedrooms, two with king sized beds, three with double beds and three twin rooms. One twin and one double bedroom on the ground floor for easy access. All bedrooms have their own bathroom. Huge hall and landing with original stained glass window and parquet flooring.

Landscaped grounds of approximately half an acre. Large level lawned area to one side with all weather barbecue area and picnic tables seating 16. Mediterranean style terrace outside kitchen and dining room offering generous space for al fresco dining. Steps leading to large terraced garden with views across the town.

Adjacent to the award winning Tunnels Beaches, a popular wedding venue, and within short walking distance of the seafront, theatre, harbour and many superb restaurants, including Damien Hirst's 11 The Quay. A 10 minute walk to see Verity, Damien Hirst's unique statue overlooking the harbour entrance.

We offer a pet free environment and so are unable to accommodate dogs.

The bus stop offering regular services to Barnstaple, Woolacombe and outlying areas is just across the road.

Close to the South West Coast Path and easy reach of some excellent walks over Exmoor.

The Tourist Information Centre is just along the road where the friendly staff will give you details of boat and coach trips, and the many local attractions.

About Lynda Courtnadge

We came to Ilfracombe and fell in love with the town and Westaway, which we converted to a guesthouse. When it came to retiring, we couldn't bring ourselves to part with Westaway, so we opened it as a self catering holiday villa.

We don't like rules and regulations ourselves, and so we don't impose them on you. We have always put our guests first, and were proud to achieve a five star rating, the first in Devon.

We invite you to relax and enjoy yourselves in the comfort of a home from home, and we are nearby if there is anything you need.

We love the proximity to the town and all the amenities. When you see Westaway Villa you will understand why we bought it. Quite apart from the house, it's a wonderful place to live, and to spend a holiday.

What makes this house unique

It has a bathroom for every bedroom, and lovely landscaped gardens. It is ideally located close to the town centre and all the amenities. There is an abundance of fine restaurants - English, French, Italian, Indian, Spanish, as well as excellent pub food, all within walking distance. The Landmark Theatre offers a variety of shows. There are boat trips from the harbour along the beautiful Exmoor coast and to the island of Lundy, as well as sightseeing and fishing boat trips.

Getting married? The Tunnels Beaches next door has been voted top wedding venue, and you can walk there from Westaway.

Swimming, surfing, kayaking, golfing, horse riding, theatre, walking, dining, cycling, shopping, sightseeing - there's something for everyone.

Myself and my partner got married at The Tunnels Beaches, Ilfracombe June 2012. Westaway Villa is spacious and homely and a real bonus was its location, literally next door to the Tunnels and a 2 minute walk to Ilfracombe restaurants, bars and harbour. I wouldn't hesitate recommending Westaway Villa.

I stayed here for my daughter's wedding at Tunnel's Beaches. Westaway Villa was beautifully decorated and everywhere was spotless. The grand entrance hall and staircase proved the perfect backdrop for photographs with the bride on the wedding morning. Like a five star hotel with masses of space and everything you could possibly need, and a well equipped kitchen and utility room.

9 of us stayed April/May 2012 for coarse fishing. The villa is vast, and very, very well equipped. If you're looking for a good fishing location, for a large group, then you won't be dissapointed with this gem of a place, it has everything and more.

Large family heaven

What a find! We had the most comfortable week ever in this amazing property. We are a large family group of 12 adults,2 teenagers, 1 child and 2 babies. This house met our every need from ample parking space for 5 cars and a large van, to private toilet and bathing facilities for each bedroom. Noise does not carry at all throughout the house so baby night feeding or early morning risers with children did not disturb anyone else throughout the week. The kitchen is superbly equipped with cookware and crockery and there is plenty of fridge and freezer space. My sister in law is a fanatical washer so was in her element in the laundry room which houses a large top loader washing machine and an industrial size drier. The grounds are beautiful and ideal for outdoor eating with plenty of seating and tables in different settings around the grounds. We were given a warm welcome from the owner who made us feel very much at home and there were fresh flowers waiting for us,not to mention the 2 bottles of wine! We can't wait to return.

Ilfracombe Holiday

We had a marvellous week staying at Westaways. It was a superb house to rent for so many of us. The facilities were excellent and we had no complaints at all. Loved the Tunnel Beaches for the little ones and the beaches at Woolacombe and Putsborough for surfing. We hope we may be able to visit again one day.

Wonderful seaside gem

From the outset, before we arrived, Lynda offered advice, information, then sorted out the new heating system and answered all of our questions! Thank you. The accomodation and location were perfect for our large, family group coming together from Cheltenham, Leicester, Stafford, Maidenhead and Scotland. A rare occasion for us all to be together for more than a few hours! Our eight Grandchildren decided there was a kid's and adult's lounge! We watched the lifeboat come in from a resue operation, enjoyed good weather, ate out in local restaurants, went to the local beaches daily and visited local attractions. Hele mill, ,cream teas and beach are well worth a visit.

We also had family photographs taken by a local Photographer, recommended by Lynda (who has been Mayor on three occasions! ) Everything was superb and catered for all our needs and ages from 3.5 to 72 years. Thanks to Lynda and Richard for their hard work, welcoming gifts and kindness.

What a wonderful house!

The welcome flowers were a lovely idea.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay. We all liked having our own en-suite facilities and the house was so comfortable to 'spread out' in.

You have thought of everything and the facilities/kitchen equipment was brilliant.

Ilfracombe is a lovely area and the house is in a perfect situation.

Would definitely recommend this property to others wanting to stay in Ilfracombe.

Our own hotel

We stayed at Westaway with a group of 16 adults. I can honestly say the accommodation was perfect, the bedrooms are all huge and there are plenty of reception rooms. The location is superb, literally next door to The Tunnels. It was like staying in our own private hotel, we would definitely stay in this property again. The Terrace Tapas bar was also really good.

Ideal location for accommodation for wedding parties attending weddings at The Tunnels Beaches, fast becoming a very popular wedding venue. Gig racing, kayaking and canoeing are all popular sporting activities in Ilfracombe. Walking the South West Coast Path and Exmoor National Park, with a fine choice of restaurants in Ilfracombe to relax after a day's exercise, makes Westaway the perfect choice to stay. Several clay pigeon shooting clubs within easy access; gun safes provided for secure storage of guns.

Coast/Beach:

The award winning Tunnels Beaches, now featuring their fantastic new wedding venue, is next door; the seafront at Ilfracombe is 5 minutes walk and the harbour a further 5 minutes. Woolacombe, Croyde, Saunton Sands with their surfing beaches are approximately 10 to 20 minutes drive away.

Travel:

Exeter Airport approximately 60 miles. Bristol Airport approximately 90 miles.

Distances:

Ilfracombe town centre approx 200 yards. South West Coast Path passes Westaway. Exmoor National Park less than 10 miles. Clovelly, The Eden Project, Bideford, Bude, Rosemoor RHS Gardens, numerous theme parks, attractions and zoos, all within a day's outing.

Further Details:

The Landmark Theatre 5 minutes walk and The Queen's Theatre in Barnstaple 20 minutes drive - both stage top of the bill performers. The Lidl store is nearby; there is also an excellent high street 5 minutes walk away supporting individual retailers. Tesco store is on the outskirts of the town and for shopaholics Barnstaple is 20 minutes drive away, or you can leave your car in Westaway Villa's large car park and pop across the road and catch a bus.
