Studio Pierre has its own entrance to a traditional French living area. It has a fully equipped kitchen area, a dining table and 4 chairs, a lounge chair and a sofa, and bedroom area with a new double bed. There is a very spacious dressing room with shower, toilet, handbasin and wardrobe. The total area is approx 34 m2.
Pierre has its own sunny terrace with a garden table and four chairs and direct steps up to the swimming pool, which has a large terrace with sun beds, table and chairs.
Villa Abrial is located 330m above sea level in the foothills of the Pyrenees, proudly looking over the Catalan village of Laroque des Alberes and commanding amazing panoramic views of the mountains, the plain and the Mediterranean. It's particularly perfect on warm summer evenings when you dine outside and chat late into the night, hear the distant church bells or even see firework displays at festival times!
The pool is large at 9 x 4.5m and its terrace is a wonderful place to soak up the sun and admire the views both by day, and by night when looking down at the twinkling lights of the villages on the plain far below. It's where you can truly relax and escape the stresses of everyday life.
Both Apartment Rene and Studio Pierre have separate entrances and their own secluded terraces, each with a table and four chairs and separate pool access. They are furnished comfortably and provide for all requirements. The pool is shared by Rene and Pierre guests (or is yours exclusively if the only booking) and has a wide sunny terrace with 4 sun beds, and a further large table with 6 chairs for al fresco dining. Next to it is a Boules pitch - great fun for all ages. There is a separate shared utility room equipped with a washing machine, freezer, iron & ironing board available for all guests. Gas and electricity are included. A further en-suite guest room with breakfast bar is available for older children or guests. Please ask for details.
Behind the house is a forest track leading to walks in the hills or down to the village of Laroque about a mile away (5 minutes by car). Laroque des Alberes lies at the foot of the Massif des Albères, the Catalan Pyrenees, which end in the Mediterranean. It benefits from lush green surroundings, plenty of sunshine and yet is only 10 miles from great coastal locations such as Argeles sur Mer, Collioure or artistic centres such as Ceret – all with their local markets and vineyards…
Laroque itself is quintessentially French, with cobbled streets and lots of local produce, whilst the Catalan influence is very much in evidence in terms of the food on offer and the flags on display! It is small enough to feel rural, and yet caters for all tastes and budgets with numerous bars/pizzerias but also has fine dining opportunities available both within the centre itself and in the surrounding villages. Naturally there is always fresh bread available from the bakery and there’s a pharmacy, post office and ATM should you need them. Finally, for those self-catering, there is a large supermarket located just outside the village, or a smaller one within Laroque itself so everything you need is to hand. It’s a wonderfully traditional village and feels as yet unspoilt.
Of historical interest is the old centre with its mediaeval tower that dominates the village, a sign of the rich history of both the village and the surrounding area.
We have had Villa Abrial for a few years, and enjoyed so many holidays here with all the family. Now they are all grown up and we have grandchildren, we feel others can have similar happy memories. We enjoy the weather, food and wine, the views and being able to take time to relax and read. It is very different from the 'hurly burly' of England - Vive la difference!

Villa Abrial is so quiet and relaxing, but all amenities are just a short drive away. You can be bustling in Collioure market in the morning, reading on the sun lounger in the afternoon, then dining in a gourmet restaurant or local Catalan bar in the evening. The choice is yours. We have taken time to furnish and equip Apartment Rene and Studio Pierre with everything we ourselves feel we would like from a holiday apartment. We hope that you enjoy your holiday.

Balance payable 2 months in advance.Upon departure a laundry fee of €15 per unit should be paid/left for the house keeper.
An accidental security damage cheque of £200 should be sent to the owner for retention, who (assuming no damage is noted) will return it within 7 days of departure from the Villa, or rip it up depending on the advice received.
If extra guests stay in Apartment Rene there is a £50 charge to cover additional cleaning/washing costs and the supply of extra sheets, bedding and towels for the duration of their stay, be it for one night or two weeks.
Dogs may be permitted to stay but each request is judged on a case by case basis. We do not generally encourage dogs in High Season unless both units are booked by the same family. Off season pet requests are generally fine as long as the dog is well behaved and there are no other guests staying as whilst owners undoubtedly love their pets, allergies or barking may not be enjoyed by fellow guests as we hope you can appreciate!
Changeover day is Sunday in high season but flexible at all other times. All times and arrival days and bookings can be considered and we will try to accommodate 5, 10, 12 or more days bookings out of High Season. Please contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate you and your flight times!
We loved our stay at this property though it did take a while to grow on us - by the end of the week we didn't want to leave.
First impressions for Studio Pierre were really mixed so let's get the minor negatives out of the way: it's a long steep uphill drive to the house (and not really walkable to the village for an evening out); the drive on the property is really steep but we braved it every time and there's just enough room to turn at the top; the studio itself just needs a little TLC and s few € spent at IKEA to smarten it up a bit (some new crockery, glassware, & cutlery, pots & pans, etc., though not expensive would really help with the overall feel).
The property overall, however, is fabulous! The swimming pool is warm and welcoming with a superb view. There's pétanque, darts, and the terrace for great dining views. We loved sitting by the pool here far more than we have on any other holiday.
The location is ideal for the beautiful Cote Vermeille and Colliure as well as day trips to Spain.
So would we recommend or come again? Yes - absolutely, but do invest a bit at the end of this season.
We arrived after a ten hour drive, tired and travel weary. The drive up to the villa was interesting and we were relieved to find everything we needed for a relaxing 10 days amidst stunning gardens, with good outdoor facilities, where we ate most of our meals. The apartment was comfortable and homely with good cooking facilities and newly refurbished en suite shower room with plenty of storage for clothes etc. We found the views inspirational and very often spent our days around the pool, enjoying the place and feeling no need to rush around. However, the area has so many wonderful and interesting sights we had to drag ourselves away from the villa and enjoyed beaches, markets, history and nature. Having enjoyed some leisurely apperitifs with Ann and Ian, who arrived towards the end of our stay, we realised how much more there is to see and do: so, we are returning in September to enjoy both the villa and surrounding area again. We have never done this before!!!!! This time, rather than drive, we are flying and hiring a car in Barcelona!
