Cottage in Fermo Area, Le Marche - Peaceful Location In Rural Surroundings, Halfway Between Adriatic Sea And Sibillini Mountains

The cottage is the smaller one of 2 houses belonging to the property. Both were recently restored and the smaller one, converted into a comfortable holiday home. It is detached from the main country house and equipped with a large shady porch. Surrounded by a beautiful garden full of flowers and mediterranean plants, it looks over a wide green valley with soft rolling hills and picturesque ancient little villages on top of them, inviting you to dream and feel the slow heartbeat of this authentic part of Italy. The spectacular Sibillini mountains rise up against the western sky. The garden has ample lawns and space to walk around and you will find seats and other garden furniture inviting you to take a nap or read a book. The pool has a large terrace and a shady seating area surrounded by Oleanders and flowerbeds, where you can enjoy the beautiful view of the hills and mountains. The house is ideally located, since both the sea and the mountains are within easy reach.

About the Owner

My favourite occupation is gardening, as you can easily see when looking at the photos. Although it is not so easy here in Le Marche because of the hot and dry summers, I keep trying to create a beautiful environment. Before I came to Italy I lived in Holland for almost 20 years. There I met people who were equally interested in flowers and gardening and together we crossed the Channel many times to visit and admire incredibly beautiful parks and private gardens in Kent and Sussex.

10 years ago my husband and I visited friends in a nearby little village here in Le Marche and we fell in love with the countryside and the ´Italian way of life´.

We bought an old farmhouse and put our whole energy into the restoration thereof, for 8 years.

The result is what you see now. I hope you enjoy it!

This house is a real gem. The garden is beautiful and the pool has views all around. Simply breathtaking. The surrounding hillside towns are all lovely, all different, and further afield is Fermo, a fabulous city, with everything you could possibly want. Tranquility, hospitality and comfort, days beside the pool, or in the shade of the covered terrace - blissful.

Many local restaurants, a car is a necessity. It is preferable to be a dog lover, as Susi, the lovely owner, has 2, who come to greet you every morning.

Beautiful location with great views

We had a lovely week in Susi's cottage. Welcomed by the two small dogs, which was especially appreciated by our 2 sons.

The pool was very nice As it was pretty warm during our stay.

A car is essential. The beaches are not too far away and there are old towns to be found on almost every hilltop. The restaurants recommanded by Susi were great.

We hope to be able to come back one day.

Best holiday ever

We had a 2 weeks fantastic stay at Le Marche/Fermo/Belmonte Piceno. The small house is located in a wonderfully secluded position down the white road. Its a true gem. A beutiful small house with a stunning view. The house is just south of the small village of Belmonte Piceno

Susi takes great care us and makes sure everything is provided for – It feels like home. There is a small kitchen, well equipped for anyone who loves cooking. The sorrounding cites have all the amenities you need and there are several restaurants within a short drive. The warm ocean is not far away.

We would highly recommend this lovely place and would like to go there again in 2016 – what better endorsement. Thanks Susi for a great say. See you soon. Our kids loved it. The best holliday ever.

Fantastic holiday cottage in rural Fermo

What a gorgeous place for a holiday. The accommodation was clean and comfortable (especially the beds which can be hit or miss in holiday rentals properties); the aircon in the living room was especially welcome when it was particularly hot outside. The gardens and swimming pool were all excellent and the surrounding views breath-taking; even better in real life than in the photos. Susi, the owner, could not have been any more friendly and helpful, with plenty of suggestions for places to visit, both nearby and further afield. Her excellent English was a real bonus as none of us speak any Italian. Her dogs and cats are also very friendly and make it feel very homely. A car is essential, there are plenty of lovely places to go and visit not too far away. We would recommend a stay at this lovely place and hope to revisit ourselves again in the not too distant future.

Excellent house, excellent hospitality

We had a stay for three weeks at this lovely propirty. In the house you will find everything what you need. The kitchen is very complete, but also the rest of the interior is more than good. Both bedrooms are equiped with high quality beds and enough storage for clothing. One will find indour and outdour games for children and adults. Most of all we enjoyed our peaceful days and evenings on our excellent covered terrace and at the well equiped swimming pool. The garden is also very beautifull. Above all we found a great hospitality from the owner Susi. She did everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible. If we go to this region again we certainly would like to stay here again. It was a great expierience.

Location

From the Owner

The house is ideally located. Although situated in the rolling countryside between the Adriatic sea and the Sibillini Mountains, it is only 160m above sea level, so that we get little snow in winter, when the hilltop villages around us and the higher fields are all white. Our garden also contains some mediterranean plants, like palm trees, agaves and Bougainvillias. In this part of Le Marche we have many ´microclimates´, i.e. temperature, humidity, amount of wind, sun and rain can vary considerably within a relatively small area, depending on which valley you are in, how high above sea level, how far from the sea and from the mountains, etc. In this respect we chose a perfect position. The air here is fresher than close to the sea and on hot summer days you can feel a refreshing breeze.

Coast/Beach:

Our holiday cottage is ideally situated for trips to either the coast (25mins drive) or the mountains (45mins drive). South of Ancona the Adriatic coast has high quality beaches (blue flag) practically all the way down to San Benedetto. Porto San Giorgio (25mins drive, former harbour of ancient Roman town Fermo) has the best sandy beaches and offers a great choice of chalets, restaurants and gelaterias, not to mention all the nice shops and boutiques just around the corner in the town center.

Travel:

Our nearest airport is Ancona/Falconara (about 1.20h drive).

Ancona and Pescara (1.40h) are destinations of Ryanair and Lufthansa. Other airports are Bologna/Forli, Rimini and Rome (all 2h - 3h drive). From nearby Fermo there is a shuttle bus to Rome (central station) and a shuttle train to Fiumicino Airport or train (15mins) to Ciampino, 2nd airport of Rome (Ryanair).

Distances:

Our village is 2km from the house. For basic needs the local shops will suffice. At 10-20mins drive you will find big supermarkets and discounters. Every small village has at least a small supermarket, a post office, a bank, a pharmacy, a baker´s shop, a hairdresser´s and a bar. There are also quite a number of outlet shops in the area, as well as some nice restaurants which offer good local food at moderate prices. Excellent fresh fish and seafood are available at the coast.

Further Details:

For guests travelling by car we can provide a route description as to how to get to the house from the Adriatic motorway (A14). A navigator (eg TomTom) may be useful, if you wish to make some day trips through the Marche region (can be provided by us, if necessary). Since we live next door, we can always provide whatever information or assistance you may need to make your holiday as pleasant as possible. We speak German, Dutch, English and Italian.

Booking Notes:
25% of the total rent is required on booking and the balance due 4 weeks before the rental period begins. If a booking is made less than 4 weeks before the start of the rental period, then the entire sum will be due.
A security bond of 200€ will be required on payment of the balance to cover any possible damages to the rented property; to be returned by bank transfer within 1 week from holiday ending in case of no damage.

Changeover Day:
Our usual changeover day is Saturday, but a different day can be considered on request, if the booking situation allows (not possbile in the summer season)

From the Owner

You find your holiday cottage right in the middle between a mountain area and the beaches of the Adriatic sea. So you can stay at the pool, explore the lovely villages on the coast, or take a walk in the national park of the Sibillini mountains, where you can choose from many trips that vary in length and difficulty. This year we are installing a pool heating solar system and, if it works the way we hope it will, the pool season can be opened at least 6 weeks earlier, i.e. in late April or early May, and it will continue until November, depending, of course, on the general weather situation. This year we can also offer guided outings on horseback through wild nature where you really get your money's worth. For more information please contact us.

  • Notes on accommodation: There are also available some exercise machines (cross trainer, rowing machine), table tennis, Darts and Crockey. Two citybikes are at the guests´disposal for tours along the seaside or through the rolling hills. The garden is fully fenced and has an electric gate and a shaded car park. We keep friendly pets and guests´pets are considered too. Outside: The depth of the swimming pool (8m x 4m) ranges from 150cm - 180 cm and is suitable for swimmers only. For non-swimmers and small children an inflatable pool can be provided. The pool area is not fenced in. It is shared with the owners. A shaded seating area next to the pool and comfortable loungers and relax chairs, hammocks and other garden furniture, guarantee for many hours of pleasure and enjoyment by the pool as well as in other parts of the garden. The spacious shaded terrace invites to have dinner al fresco and there you will also find a barbecue. Utility Room: Freezer, iron + ironing board, vacuum cleaner, sjoelbak (entertaining game of Dutch origin, can be played in the house or outside), playstuff for the pool and for small children, plaids, additional auto-inflatable bed. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The apartment can be cleaned and the bedlinen, changed at the end of each week on request. For this optional service € 50 will be charged. The costs for final cleaning (€ 50) are not included in the total rental sum.
