About Amanda Dickinson

We first came to France when my parents bought a property in Brittany, and soon fell in love with the easy lifestyle, endless summer sun, stunning countryside and of course the food. Now myself and my family have moved here permanently (five years ago) to enjoy the best of what this beautiful region has to offer.

Amanda Dickinson purchased this house in 2005

Why Amanda Dickinson chose Migron

After searching long and hard in the Charente, we finally settled on this area for many reasons: The beauty of the countryside with endless vineyards and fields of golden sunflowers. Knowing that we were only 50 mins from some of the best beaches in Europe. The strong attraction of historic towns such as Saintes and Cognac and the stunning port of La Rochelle. The variety of attractions for children such as zoos, aquariums, water parks and hopping over to the islands of Isle de Re and Isle D'Oleron. Being amongst such amazing gastronomy, markets and wonderful seafood!

Maison Cerisier (Sleeps 5/6, 2 Bedrooms)
average rating of 4.95 based on 20 reviews

Delightfully quiet and rural beautiful countryside perfect for cycling and walking.

Beautifully presented and furnished, amazing shower. Ian & Amanda take great pride in the level of accommodation they offer, superb welcome hamper with foods. We enjoyed total privacy at Maison Cerisier. The gite is in a very rural location and we enjoyed totally unwinding from modern techno lives cycling and exploring the countryside. Sadly there are few local Tabacs for coffee, many shops closed we wonder if Carrefour is invading?

A great gite to escape to and very tempting for a long term stay.

Faultless. A wonderful, peaceful holiday for all the family in Migron.

  • 5 of 5

The first thing we noticed was how spotlessly clean Maison Cerisier and everything in it is. With a well equipped kitchen that actually works; sharp knives, easy to use fan assisted oven, easy to use washing machine, dish washer, plastic plates & cups for by the pool or picnics and plenty more, Amanda has thought of everything - It's like home from home! Outside, the property has it's own enclosed private patio with a Brabantia washing line (plenty of pegs), barbecue and table & chairs with parasol. Great for private sunbathing and relaxing in the evenings.

On arrival, Amanda very kindly provided a basket of essentials (butter, milk, tea, coffee, pate, croissants, cheese etc.) along with a selection of reasonably priced local wines for us to enjoy during our stay if we wished. A lovely touch!

Although not heated and with a temperature of around 25/26 degrees our boys, aged 6, 9 & 10 spent many happy hours in the pool, which is just outside Maison Cerisier, so easy to monitor.

There's plenty to do with the kids nearby (speak to Amanda & Ian - Saints was our favourite place to visit). It's great for walking, running or cycling as the roads are extremely quiet and safe with lots of 'tractor only' tracks next to fields of grapevines, sunflowers and corn, which can also be used - Look out for the heron & buzzards!

Overall, a perfect holiday. There's nothing to fault, so we would highly recommend a visit.

Absolutely stunning property in wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

This is an absolutely stunning property in a beautiful and peaceful location. (The welcome pack on arrival was the best we have ever had. Thank you.) The property is of the highest standard. We have been to the area a number of times before, and although there is so much to do and see, this time we spent virtually the entire week at the property enjoying the tranquility, the amazing swimming pool and the pool table and table tennis in the games room. We also enjoyed lots of bike rides through the endless vineyards in every direction from the property.

Amanda and Ian - thank you for a wonderful week. We have already booked our next trip, but for two weeks next time. Mark and Tarah
