Our sunny townhouse has a fantastic roof terrace with panoramic views of the harbour and old town rooftops. It's situated on an attractive pedestrianised square a few steps from the promenade in the traditional part of Olhao.

Built on 2 storeys above our own garage the house has light and airy views towards the sea. The bedrooms and bathroom are on the 1st floor and the 2nd floor has a fully fitted kitchen with dining area, a living room and a balcony.

The front bedroom has a handmade wood double bed with a window looking over the square and the rear bedroom has two single beds overlooking the cobbled way at the back of the house with the bathroom easily reached on the same floor. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans to keep you cool at night and wall heaters for winter time.

The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, fridge freezer, microwave and everything you might need to make that special meal.

The living room, with windows on 3 sides, offers views over towards the sea and barrier islands to the front, and cobbled pathways to the side of the house. Patio doors lead onto the balcony looking over the traditional rooftops of old Olhao.

Steps from the balcony lead to our newly built roof terrace which has fantastic 360º views over to the sea and islands to the front and across to the old town and the hills beyond. The terrace has shade and sun-loungers and is the perfect place to relax. After a hard day’s sunbathing or sightseeing, the lights over the town rooftops and the stars above the Islands are simply magical.

The whole area around our house is pedestrianised, so there’s no traffic to worry about anywhere near the house and in just a few steps it’s easy to reach all the restaurants and cafes on the sea-front.

Olhao is a traditional fishing town full of cafes and restaurants only metres away from our front door. With Faro airport only 20 mins away a car is not necessary to enjoy your stay here. Olhao itself does not have a beach, there is a lovely promenade, harbour and marina and lots of exploring to do in the maze of cobbled streets in the old quarter. For beaches just catch one of the ferry boats to the nearby islands and you can spend the day sunbathing and swimming, returning to Olhao for supper at one of the many restaurants.

Olhao is still very much a truly Portuguese town, partly because it’s a working fishing port and has managed to keep that ambience whilst also updating its image. Throughout the year the restaurants and cafes are open and the Saturday market is the high spot of the week where villagers from all over the locality come to sell their produce.

Time spent in Olhao gives the best of Portuguese hospitality and a feeling of history of the true Portugal.

About The Owner

My husband and I have lived in Portugal for nearly 15 years and love life here.

We have a farmhouse in the country and 2 properties near the sea in Olhao and on Armona. We stay in both houses ourselves and like to think that we offer attractive comfortable accommodation in each with a few more home comforts than many properties that are just for rental.

My husbands works in London and also over here and I look after our properties as well as caring for the animals and the land here at home.

Notes on accommodation: Situated on a car free cobbled street with views over an attractive square towards towards the sea with a balcony on the top floor and stairs leading to a roof terrace with panoramic views.Because we have the balcony, roof terrace and stairs up to the bedrooms and living area, the house is not suitable for children or for people with mobility problems. Outside: Terrace on the top floor looking over the rooftops with table and chairs. Ideal for alfresco dining or simply chilling out with a glass of wine! fantastic!!

We stayed in this beautiful house for our holidays in july/aug 2015. There were 4 adults staying and no problem with space whatsoever. Beautifully appointed property, spotlessly clean and so well laid out. From the roof terrace to the front door there was absolutely nothing to complain about, lovely kitchen, more than well equipped and bathroom, comfortable lounge leading to a balcony very nice for coffee in the mornings or a nightcap late on! The area is great with good road access to wherever you want to be , beachy, town or country. Lovely bars and restaurants for whatever price you want to pay, can recommend Bar 62 for tapas and cocktails!! Lesley the owner is a lovely helpful person, answers emails promptly and is full of information! Would I recommend this property for a holiday....in a heartbeat! Thanks Lesley!

Fantastic home from home

Very good direction to property and lots of good information about the area.House was very clean and located one block from main front.Everything you need for a trouble free holiday was at hand.Iron,hairdryer,washing machine ,condiment set!! washing up liquid etc (all saved us buying larger amounts) Four adults lived in this house for 10 days and always felt there was plenty of space.No aircon but we managed fine with fan and windows open.We would not hesitate to stay here again.Owner on hand if needed.This home made our holiday special

Chill out by the sea

Lesley our host gave us very helpful advice before our arrival as to location of her town house which was just what we required. A home by the sea with great amenities in a traditional fishing town. We were met and given a warm welcome,plus a starter pack of grocery goodies. Although we had hired a car from the airport it wasn't really necessary as all amenities are just around a corner! We enjoyed our wandering on foot around the old tiled network of streets and boat trips to the Formosa Nature Reserves where there were beautiful sandy beaches.Olhio is a great base for an informal relaxing break with many options to enjoy from sightseeing, markets selling fresh fish,fruit, vegetables and hand-made goods, small bars and excellent restaurants serving local dishes away from the glare of the city life.

The town house is conveniently situated, clean, well equiped has all the required facilities. GREAT!

A great alternative to package holidays

Great place to stay to be part of a typical working town. The markets were fabulous and everything you needed was on hand. The town house was comfortable and we had a truly memorable holiday. Will definitely return to Olhao.

Sehr gut aufgeteilte und perfekt eingerichtete Wohnung in super Lage.

Die Wohnung liegt in der zweiten Reihe und nur wenige Meter von den berühmten Markthallen entfernt. Traumhafter Blick aufs Meer von der Dachterasse.

Alles, was das Urlauberherz begehrt, ist in der Wohnung vorhanden. Sehr freundliche englische Vermieterin, die auch für das leibliche Wohl der Ankömmlinge sorgt und jederzeit für Fragen und Infos zur Verfügung steht
