Village House with Scenic Views

Overview

Property

Updated: 14-Aug-2016
Village House in Vellano, Pescia, Tuscany

Our 800 years old house is at the top of the typical tuscan village in the area known as "little Switzerland", wonderful views all around. Our private garden is a short walk away where we grow our own biological vegetables. Vellano is the main village of 10 castle villages of the valley. The village also has a shop for general provisions and fresh local bread, hairdresser, postoffice, 2 restaurants, wonderful pizzas in the "Bistrot". A wonderful area for walking and cycling. Car parking 30m from the house.

It is hard to put into words just how totally breathtaking this home is.

We drove up towards Vellano looking at the castle off in the distance, we were speechless.

On our arrival in the village, we enjoyed absorbing the energy of the old castle village; it is just like a movie. My husband and I had to pinch ourselves, to see if we were dreaming.

This home is understated, the pictures can not do it justice, which makes it a wonderful surprise.

The house is situated in the castle, overlooking the Tuscany hills. It is bursting with character, as you would expect an 800 year old home to be.

The home has all the essentials, to make your stay complete: fully self contained, well maintained and very clean.

There are so many attractions to visit within easy distance, like Pisa, Lucca & Florence.

We travelled from Australia for our Europe holiday, stopping off at a lot of amazing places. Anne's & Peter’s home was the highlight of our trip. 10 out of 10. Linda and Noel

Ideal Quite Mountain Village Gettaway

  • 4 of 5

The house was just as described, clean and very well equipped. Anne the owner is very friendly and extremely helpful without being intrusive. If you are looking for a quite break in the heart of an Italian village this is perfect (especially if you like bells). The property is within an hours drive of many attractions (Lucca and Pisa) and has wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. It's easy to get to from Pisa airport. I would recommend it to anyone seeking a holiday for a mixture of sightseeing, relaxation and walking. Thank you Anne for welcoming us into your home.

Charmed from the moment you step through the door

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place to stay! We stayed for a week and it was so relaxing it felt like three. Anne was a very gracious and welcoming host and spent many a time sitting chatting with her on the bench by her door over a glass of wine. The communal terrace is a lovely place to sit at the end of the day and listen to village life around you. The house itself has everything you need and feels like your home and the views of the surrounding hills are amazing. Pescia the nearest town has all the facilities needed and regular trains to Florence or the coast. All in all a Perfect place in a great area lots of walking up hills to keep you fit. Thank you Anne I am sure we will be returning !

Magical Vellano...

  • 5 of 5

Even before Matt and I arrived the correspondence and information from Anne and Peter was extremely helpful. On our arrival in Vellano Anne met us and introduced her wonderful, magical home where we spent a very relaxing week immersed in the tranquility of Tuscany. The accommodation had everything provided including a few home grown treats left on the doorstep... (thank you Anne) I would recommend this beautiful 800 year old Italian treasure to anyone and hope very much to make a return visit...

Welcoming and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Anne made us very welcome in their wonderful home, unfortunately Peter was not there. Everything that you could possibly require and more was provided, they have thought of everything. This was our first visit to Italy, with both Florence and Pisa just over an hour away, we explored both of these and also the beautiful countryside and villages surrounding Vellano. This is a great place to relax and unwind, helped by the great hospitality that we received. We only had one complaint, a week was too short and went too quickly.

Live the dream

  • 5 of 5

Live the dream for a week and we did! Spending a week in a lovely self contained 800 year old home with stunning views out the window took our breath away. Everything you could need was supplied including many resources to explore the region plus books and DVDs. Anna and Peter were great hosts - nothing was too much trouble. Anna on arrival made us feel so welcome and orientated us well to the house and surroundings. This was the perfect place to mix exploring Tuscany and returning to a romantic setting to recharge. Would highly recommend this opportunity. Margaret
