Apartment on Las Terrazas de La Torre Golf Resort, Roldan, Costa Calida - A Peaceful And Professionally Managed Golf Resort

A beautifully appointed two bedroomed ground floor apartment on the brand new, Jack Nicklaus designed Las Terrazas de La Torre Golf Resort situated between Balsicas and Roldan in the Costa Calida area of Murcia. The apartment provides comfortable and flexible accommodation for four people, is fully air conditioned and is situated on the ground floor. The two bedrooms can be arranged with either 2 single beds or a superking sized double bed. It benefits from a large, partly shaded south west facing terrace giving easy access to the communal swimming pool. This large terrace area with direct access through patio doors to the lounge and one bedroom, has views across the pool to the golf course beyond.The terrace faces south west so catches the sun from mid morning to sunset, and is provided with a dining table and four chairs for alfresco dining together with a coffee table with 2-seater sofa and two armchairs for relaxing with a mid morning coffee or sundowner cocktail. There are also four sun loungers with pads provided for sun worshippers to use. All bed linen and towels are provided. Beach/pool towels and beach bags are provided. A picnic bag and cool box are also provided.

Changeover Day:

We require guests to vacate by 12.00 and new arrivals can have access from 16:00. These times may be flexible if agreed with our key holder - please ask. There may be an additional charge payable to the key holder for very late or early arrivals due to having to work unsociable hours.

Professional couple in their late 50's have purchased this luxury apartment for personal and family use and for rental to others when available. Active, lively and young at heart with continuing experience in senior management positions and wide experience of travel both for business and pleasure. We have access to another, similar apartment on the same complex owned by a sister.

Why Brian Hopkins chose Cartagena & Mar Menor

We wanted a property in the sun for long weekends and as a base for visiting friends and family who have emigrated to Spain in recent years. This property fitted the bill very well as it is located on an impressive golfing complex with first class facilities. We are not golfers ourselves, but the attraction of a superbly maintained, self sufficient complex with excellent security, particularly when our property would be unused for long periods was compelling. This, together with easy transport links to the UK and plenty of things to see and do within easy driving distances means that we can either relax on the complex or go out and about sightseeing.

With beautiful clean sand and safe family bathing the Mar Menor inland sea, only 15 minutes away, is fantastic for lazy days on the beach. There are many interesting cultural activities to explore in the region and the regular festivals and events provide year round interest.

What makes this apartment unique

As the apartment is on the ground floor the access to the pool and golf course is very easy. The site is very secure with 24 hour security patrols and a 24 hour manned gatehouse. When entering the site for the first time your car numberplate is scanned, this then allows easy entry and exit for the remainder of your stay.

There are a wealth of activities available within 30-40 minutes drive. From lazy days on the safe beaches of the Mar Menor to walking or quadbiking, mountain biking and kayaking in the Sierra Espuna National Park. During the holiday season it is possible to see the wild boar being fed in the Sierra Espuna National Park. Walking, cycling and birdwatching are popular in the San Pedro salt marsh. Cultural and architectural sites (Roman and Moorish) abound in the Roman city that became Cartagena. Cartegena is the largest naval base in Spain and hosts the national submarine museum. There is a narrow gauge railway which takes visitors to the Roman tin mines in the mountains around Cartegena. The provincial capital city of Murcia is about 40 minutes drive away and has a fine cathedral and university buildings. The city centre has a wide variety of large stores with all of the international brands well represented together with many small specialist and artisan shops. There is a railway station located in Balsicas, only a couple of kilometres away, which allows access to the national rail network. Rail ticket prices a very cheap when compared to the uk.

We have stayed in this area many times, mainly on La Torre, which is only a few minutes drive. Las Terrazas has been built in a similar style. This apartment is extremely well equipped/furnished, better than most that we have used on La Torre. We had the whole pool to ourselves for most of the weekend and we loved the peace and tranquillity best of all. For those that wish to explore Murcia, the location is a great base. For food, the village of Roldan has a lot to offer. A Chinese, Roldan Grill, and a couple of Italian restaurants all very reasonably priced. There are also 2 pharmacy's a tobacconist and 2 supermarkets. For a cheap bar, try the Long Bar or the Bar in the Park. They do a great breakfast for a few euros and you can drink extremely cheaply here with many of the ex-pat residents who live locally.

Notes on accommodation: As this is a golf resort, facilities for childrens entertainment (clubs, activitives etc) are limited. However, the Mar Menor beaches are only 15 minutes drive away. There is a small supermarket on site and a large bar/restaurant with some live entertainment. Outside: A large terrace area of more than 300 square feet gives access to a grassed area and the large unheated communal swimming pool. The terrace is provided with a 2 seater sofa, 2 armchairs, a dining table and 4 chairs and 4 sun loungers. All bedding, towels and face cloths (including beach/pool towels) are provided and are freshly laundered for each booking. A cleaning, laundry and meet & greet charge of 85 Euros is paid to our key holder for each booking.

Well what can I say but fabulous we had a great two weeks in this apartment we were meet buy the house keeper Angela who was just so helpful our saviour as we had problems with our hire car and she helped us even got us shopping so the kids had something when we got thire .

Brian was so helpful when booking just a pleasure to deal with I would give it 5 star

A beautiful apartment!!

What a lovely apartment with all the comforts of home. It is ideally positioned overlooking the communal pool and has a large terrace to enjoy the Spanish sunshine.

The booking was simple and we received friendly and welcoming correspondence from Brian the owner.

On arrival the apartment was spotless and matched the online description. All of the little extras such as provided beach towels made the stay even more comfortable. The apartment has very comfortable furniture and air conditioning in both of the bedrooms as well as the main living area. The complex is well managed and very secure.

It is great base to explore the Mar Menor and Southern Costa Blanca as well as the Murcia region. A car is essential as the resort is located in the Campo (countryside) so you need a car to visit the coastal areas and nearby towns. There are lots of activities in this area for everyone. There is a small supermarket on the resort with freshly baked bread and all of the essentials and is just a 10 minute walk away. Las Terrazas also has a bar/clubhouse we only popped in for a quick drink so can't comment on the food etc. The golf course was popular but as non-golfers I can't comment.

I would recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a little luxury and total relaxation. Even in the height of the holiday season the complex for low key and had a laid back atmosphere. It is also family friendly we have an 11 year old daughter who had other children around to play with in the pool and the wi-fi and English TV was also a hit.

Fantastic apartment in a perfect position. Very well equipped with lots of 'home from home' touches. Air con was brilliant and very much a necessity and the outdoor space was just great! We barbecued most nights which made for a very relaxing and chilled holiday. The appartment was very clean and tidy on arrival and the key handover was smooth. The pool and garden areas are clean and well maintained and with regular visits from the friendly security guys we all felt very safe. We will definitely be booking again for next year as soon as we can!

Little gem

Great compact apartment, with excellent outside space and very close to the shared pool. The apartment is very well equipped, well furnished with a shaded terrace with comfortable outside furniture, which together, all made this an excellent value property. The pictures give a good representation of the apartment. With two teenage children in tow, the excellent free wifi was a boon as well as the large screen panel TV with UK channels. The property is air-conditioned throughout, which allowed for a good night's sleep when outside temperatures climbed above 35C! A little gem of a property and certainly one of the best apartments on the resort.

The resort is a former Polaris World development, the troubles of which are well documented. However, the resort is well maintained, and as is gated, so security was very visible which was reassuring. Beyond the 18 hole golf course, there is little entertainment on site beyond 1 restaurant and a very small shop. The resort was very quiet when we visited (there was only one other apartment occupied in the block of 16) but this didn't bother us as we were there for total R&R!. A car is considered essential for trips to the nearby towns, beaches, shops and restaurants - which are plentiful.

Brian, the owner, was very accommodating, helpful and patiently answered our question; the on-site meet and greet went very smoothly. A great base from which to explore the Murcia region, play golf or to just chill in the sun! Thank you Brian.

Holiday stay

Many thanks to Brian for the use of his appartment also Celia the key holder for being so helpfull. The appartments is tastefully decorated and very clean. It also has a good sized Samsung TV which can be usefull if you have any wet days, unfortunately we had a couple. Our main reason for choosing this apartment was that it was at ground level and had a lovely patio with comfortable furniture where we spent a good portion of our stay during our week stay. The appartment is also close to the pool which made it more convenient when taking a dip in the pool. Again thank you Brian for the use of your appartment also with the directions and recommend restaurants,this information was very helpful. Will be in touch for future use of the appartment.

The Mar Menor inland sea (the largest saltwater lagoon in the Mediterranean) is only 15 minutes drive away. This area provides 5 kilometers of very clean sandy beaches and is a popular bathing area. There are a wide variety of water sports and associated activities in the area.

Further north along the coast is San Pedro del Pinatar which has a fine marina and many seafood restaurants including some on the beach.


Murcia San Javier is 15 minutes drive, approximately 15 kilometres. Various car hire companies have offices at the airport or the owners/keyholders may be able to provide details of other local options.

An alternative airport is Alicante which is about 45 minutes drive away.

The use of a car is not essential but is recommended.

Our keyholders may be able to provide an airport pickup and return service if requested. A new airport at Corvera, about 12 kilometers away, is due to open early 2014.


Roldan - local market town is 5 minutes drive.

Mar Menor - Shallow inland sea with fine sandy beaches is 15 minutes drive.

Torre Pacheco - local commercial centre (selection of banks etc) is 15 minutes drive.

Murcia - Regional capital and university city is 30 minutes drive.

Sierra Espuna National Park -walking, bird spotting, climbing, quad biking etc is 40 minutes drive.

Cartegena - Roman and arabic origins, and is the largest Spanish naval base and is 40 minutes drive.

Further Details:

Supermarkets, restaurants and limited shopping available either on site or within 5 minutes drive.

San Javier, near the airport has a selection of banks, supermarkets and restaurants.

The local town of Roldan has 2 small supermarkets and a range of bars, clubs and restaurants ranging from tapas to grills, chinese, italian and traditional spanish cuisine. There is also a flamenco festival in late July each year.
