About Sharon Christians

Sharon and I have built our villa business over the last 20 years. I am an entrepreneur, earlier I ran a large Travel company. Sharon was head of Communications for Bombardier Transportation until August 2014. We own 6 18th century houses near Gensac & Ste. Foy-la-Grande, and I have managed all the restoration projects. We provide experiences, not just holidays, with spacious accommodation, - great kitchens, all bedrooms en-suite, cinemas, wifi, hi-fi, satellite TV, large securitised pools and exceptional sporting facilities. We aim to give you exceptional personal service, us & our permanent support team. We offer a wide range of optional extras, including minibuses, canoes, chef & maid service. Our houses are ideal for 3 or 4 generation holidays. Exceptional houses, exceptional service.

Sharon Christians purchased this chateau / country house in 1999

Why Sharon Christians chose Gensac

I was not looking to buy another property - we already had one house and had restored the original chai. But I had just started my Orpheus & Bacchus Music & Wine Festival in the original houses and knew they were too small. When I saw an estate agent's photos of this property I fell in love with the granary - a perfect music salon. So, several years and a lot of money later I had my perfect venue, able to sleep 48 people in en-suite accommodation, a fabulous salon for music - classical or rock - and the ability to sit up to 78 guests for a gastronomic dinner. Beautiful countryside in the famous Bordeaux appellation, 20 acres of it around the chateau, good climate, superb transportation with 2 airports and a TGV station nearby, close to the magical hilltop wine-town of St.Emilion - Superb!

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Chateau du Faure is a rarity with 24 (or 16 for a smaller group) bedrooms for rent as a self-catering property. It is an alternative to a big hotel, but is yours for the rental period. This enables you to create your personal character - to be "Mine host" for your party. We can switch from a self-catering mode to a fully catered operation with full maid service if you wish - we have always been able to deliver - & influence to create an unforgettable experience. There is enormous character in this 18th century estate & as a client has said "There is nothing quite like it in the world." It exudes rustic French charm and is for real people. We offer an exceptional range of sporting activities inc.golf, cricket, football, tennis, croquet.

A wonderful place to hold a residential course

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful old set of buildings around a central grassed courtyard. Each building has been fully modernised so that all creature comforts are cared for (all bedrooms have their own bathrooms for instance). Ian Christians, the owner, is passionate about music and very knowledgeable about wine (hence the Orpheus and Bacchus festival he runs). Nothing was too much trouble for him. It made the whole week really relaxing and even more enjoyable. He also presented a fascinating wine tasting which added a lot to our experience. The estate is beautiful with each building having its own swimming pool which, at a warmer time of year, would have been sublime. There is a fabulous rehearsal room which is also a concert space, a sizeable dinging room, excellent kitchen facilities and it was altogether a wonderful find. The 30 or so people I took with me on my English Choral Experience singing week were very happy indeed on all fronts. We are returning next year. That is the best review of all.

Cambridge University Jazz Orchestra

We took our entire 20-piece big band to stay at Domain du Faure and had a blissful five days. A beautiful estate in the gorgeous countryside of the south of France. As the leader of a student ensemble, part of my role is to organise a tour each year and, after an impromptu meeting with Ian in Cambridge, he made this very, very easy for me! We set up camp under the beams of the elegant salon and had several productive days of rehearsal and recording, making full use of a Steinway model D which once belonged to Alfred Brendel. In our free time, we would lounge by the pool, play croquet in the picturesque gardens and sample the local wines (guided by Ian's encyclopaedic knowledge!) He also organised two concerts which were well attended and well received, both in Bergerac and in La Musique itself. All in all a most relaxing and enjoyable time, and I'm sure our music was improved thanks to the inspiring scenery, fine wines and Ian's boundless hospitality.

What a wonderful stay!!

  • 5 of 5

Le Faure was for us, teachers and students, the perfect place to combine culture, pleasure and education!

Many thanks to the owners, Ian and Sharon, for making this possible for us and for all the support they gave us!

Our stay in Le Faure will be a life time memory!

We recommend Le Faure for its beautiful location, the authenticity of the buildings and furniture, the piano's, the possibility to make music, the very clean rooms and bathrooms, the great gardens and swimming pools, and for so much more..

Le Faure is a top-place to stay!!
