About the Owner

I live in Italy with my husband Fabrizio, our dog Alcohol and 5 nice delightful cats. I have two children, Federico and Giulia, already grown up. My husband and I both live and work at the seaside, but we love very much the area of Mid Valley of Serchio and Garfagnana, where the small medieval stone villages and fortified villages on hilltops well match with the wilderness of untouched landscapes and with the magnificent presence of the Apuan Alps from one side and the Apenine from the other side. Moreover we love to recognize also in the taste of local foods the culture and the flavour of our ancient roots.

Wonderful retreat...

  • 5 of 5

We took our daughter (24) and son (22) to Laura's house up in the mountains in Vitiana. We all agreed it was the perfect place to chill out in, as well as do little day trips from - and there are many good and diverse places to go to - to choose from. The house is as described, was very clean and did us very well. The local people are charming and friendly. Laura is a brilliant host - professional as well as friendly and she answered queries very quickly. All four of us would recommend staying in Vitiana - the fact that there are a number of repeat guests says it all!

The perfect place to get away from it all.....The property was alot bigger than expected and full of character. The pool and terrace were beautiful with stunning views. We were late arriving and didn't stock up on provisions but we purchased ham, cheese, wine etc from the shop next door which was a wonderful experience. The local people were lovely and friendly and made us feel very welcome. A gorgeous stone property in a stunning setting - just wish we had stayed longer !! Thanks again Laura and we look forward to our next visit. J & N England

May 2015 holiday

  • 5 of 5

From our initial enquiry to meeting Laura on our arrival nothing was too much trouble for her. She ensured our needs were met and was very welcoming.

Our drive up to this lovely villa is something we will always remember especially going through " The Gap". The villa is set in wonderful surroundings and views to die for. Everything we needed was provided by Laura including the welcome pack. There is plenty of space in the villa and outside around the pool. We were lucky with the weather and had plenty of hot sunny days so a dip in the pool was very refreshing.

Laura thank you helping us to have a lovely couple of weeks in your villa.

al colloreo

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place. Just booked for the fourth time already. Why ?

Because of the fabulous location, away from busy life but still close to a number of fantastic touristic attractions. Because of the most charming owners, the friendly and helpful neighbors . Because of the nicely restaured house and the great swimming pool... At 'Al colloreo' we don't feel like one of those Belgian tourists, but we really feel a little Italian.

Wouter, Annemie, Renee and Florre (family with teenagers).

Owner's Response: Dear Wouter, Annemie, Renee and Florre , thank you for these nice words! We are very happy to realize that you have found in Al Colloreo the right place to stay and to relax and to enjoy the taste of the Italian life. Happy that this result is due to the intrinsic nature of the place and the local people and the village atmosphere, but also to our efforts to make your holiday comfortable and lovely because of the house, the swimming pool, the solarium ... We and the neighbors have been waiting for your next arrival since your last departure and look forward to seeing you again next summer for a new sunny and warm holiday at Al Colloreo!

Fabulous host and location

  • 5 of 5

This is the absolutely ideal place to get away from it all. We have been to Al colloreo four times in as many years and couldn't wish for a more peaceful place with stunning scenery and views.

The owner and her husband are so hospitable and friendly and have equipped the house and garden to an incredibly high standard.

We have always stayed in either spring or autumn so have never been brave enough to use the pool, however during the summer months this would be a very welcome addition when it gets very hot.

The local people are very friendly and with the shop next door selling very local produce you will experience a real Tuscan getaway.

You will need a car to get there and to stock up on groceries if you are like us and enjoy cooking. The house is well situated for travel into the mountains, to the coast and to Siena, Lucca and the chianti region. There are many beautiful walks both on and off the beaten track in Vitiana .

Pisa airport is about 35 miles away with regular flights from Gatwick taking about 90 minutes. A choice of car hire operators are right next to the airport.

We couldnt recommend the house highly enough whether you want to relax on the terrace in the sun by the pool or visit the smaller villages like Barga or Bagni.

Owner's Response: My family and I, we have worked hard, with love and passion, on restoring the house. We did it believing that it was worth while , because of affective reasons – the house once belonged to a really dear uncle of ours – and because , in our opinion, the house is so beautiful with its structure in stone and magnificent for its scenic location. Our house lays in the green of the hills of the ”Val di Serchio”, in a luxuriant and almost untouched valley, surrounded by apenine and apuan mountains, whose gorgeous landscapes can be admired through the windows or from the garden of the house. Moreover it is close to places of interest and utility structures. So we have tried to further increase its value, keeping the austere looking exterior and trying to transmit, to our guests enjoying the interior, the feeling of warmth and coziness of living just like you were home. Reading the comments from Steve and Julie fills me and my family with joy and deeply gratifies us. Dear Steve and Julie, thank You! We look forward to meeting You again at Al Colloreo Xxx

Location

From the Owner

I am the sole owner of this house since 2007. It was already a beautiful one but I did some works to improve it, also completely renewing bathrooms and kitchen and building the swimming pool. My house is the result of inheritance of my parents and uncles, who intensely loved this area and were used to spend together here summer holidays and Christmas holidays. The house was bought by my family in the 60's, but starting from the beginning of the last century, already my grandparents were used to come here in Vitiana and be guested for holidays in the vicarage of the village by the Parrish itself. The love for Vitiana and the area came intact directly to me and my family.
