Luxury Private Villa and Pool Overlooking the Azure Blue Sea to Assos

Updated: 13-Sep-2016
Villa Drakondas in Zola, Kefalonia, Greece - Peaceful Greek Village Location

The villa’s lounge opens onto a large terrace and to the pool, from which you will be able to admire the breathtaking views over the bay to Assos and Lefkada beyond. Cook at the large BBQ whilst admiring the amazing sea and valley views. The large private infinity style swimming pool has a shallow end, perfect for children but is also ideal for swimming. In addition to the large terrace downstairs and large balcony upstairs, the pool has a sun patio and there is a large garden with a variety of fruit and olive trees. There are a number of tavernas in the Zola area offering a varied menu from fish to succulent steaks and traditional Greek cuisine. Rent a small motor-boat to explore the secluded coves along the coast. You may be lucky enough to spot some of the numerous dolphins or turtles that can be found there.

About the Owner

We fell in love with the beautiful island of Kefalonia many years ago and one day dream of living there. Currently we live in the UK but visit as often as we can. On a visit a couple of years ago we found a fabulous piece of land in a peaceful Greek village overlooking the gorgeous azure blue sea. We have now built our dream villa. To lay in bed at night listening to the waves lapping at the shore is absolute heaven. Zola is in a fantastic location on the island as it is not far to anywhere. You can enjoy the peace and tranquility of the village and secluded beaches or take a short drive to the main towns of the island. We can't be there all the time so decided to share our villa with others who would also enjoy this beautiful unspoilt island.

“Stunning setting, peaceful, lovely villa and a warm welcome!!”

Reviewed October 8, 2012

This beautiful villa is set overlooking one of Kefalonias many lovely bays. The Villa is of a very high standard, in a private position. The accomodation is spacious, very clean indeed, with a great infinity pool. The sun rose over the hill facing the villa just after 9 am and baked down throughout the day, dipping down at the other side just after 5...giving a little bit of shade to start and finish the day; which was very welcome indeed. The best part of the villa for us was the upstairs balcony which is to die for; start the day there with a cup of tea and finish it late evening with a glass of wine; the view changes constantly. Zola is a small village which is situated equal distance from most of the main towns/villages of Kefalonia and a little car will give you easy access; the roads are very quiet indeed. We loved the villa and have returned totally chilled. Highly recommended

Wonderful villa in Kefalonia

  • 5 of 5

This was our second holiday at Villa Drakondas and we enjoyed our stay as much as last year. Adrian was there to greet us, even though our flight had been delayed by two hours. The villa was once again spotlessly clean and we enjoyed relaxing days by the pool whilst admiring the stunning sea views. Our favourite beaches are the two local ones (Vouthi and Kiriaki) and the taverna in Zola serves delicious food. We hired a boat twice from Fiscardo and sailed across to Ithaca. Villa Drakondas is a perfect place to stay for a relaxing and memorable holiday.

Owner's Response: We were very happy to welcome you back. It is very important to us that Adrian is there to meet our guests when they arrive particularly if they have had long or difficult journeys with delayed flights etc. We are very lucky that Adrian is so flexible and accommodating. There are so many different beaches on Kefalonia, but, like you, we too think the local ones are the best. The mixture of sand and pebbles is perfect for relaxing on the beach or swimming and snorkelling in the sea. If you are lucky you might even see Dolphins in the bay or cormorants on the rocks. The villa is perfectly situated for visits to anywhere on the island and we also like to visit Fiscardo, but as divers. The underwater sea life both at Fiscardo and Ithaca is amazing. If only we could sail too..... Please do come and visit again. Every time our guests visit they are warmly welcomed back and find themselves relaxing into the timelessness of the island. Until next time.....

Fantastic holiday in an idyllic setting

  • 5 of 5

This was our first holiday in Kefalonia and it exceeded our expectations. The villa was in a brilliant location which had stunning views of the sea and was close to lovely beaches. You can easily drive to the north of the island and to Argostoli, the island's capital. The villa itself is spacious, clean and has beautiful views from the balconies. Adrian was both friendly and helpful and gave us useful tips about the island. One of our favourite days was hiring a boat from Agios Effirmia and exploring the coves that lead up to Fiscardo. Thank you Leigh and Mike for letting us stay in your beautiful villa. We will love to return to Villa Drakondas one day.

Villa Drakondas Zola Kefalonia

A wonderful villa with a stunning view

  • 5 of 5

I had a very happy holiday in Kefalonia both for the location and for the island. It was my first time there and I am still looking forward to coming back again. Everything was perfect:the property was clean and well maintened, the listing description was accurate. It is situated in a sleepy village so it is perfect if you want do spend a holiday with a group of friends, just like we did. We found a welcome packet which revealed useful as shops are not so near. Mr Adrian, the representative, was friendly and satisfied all our needs. The beach you can see from the villa is superb and the tavern there was cheap with very good fish. I certainly recommend this property. Car is absolutely necessary.

Owner's Response: We are very happy that you enjoyed your holiday at Villa Drakondas and it was exactly what you expected and hopefully more. We leave a welcome pack of essentials for our guests so they can settle in before having to go shopping. We think the beach seen from the villa, Agia Kiriaki, is one of the best on the island and agree with you that the Tavernas are very reasonable with superb food. We will be very pleased to welcome you back to Villa Drakondas for another holiday.

Great time in Kefalonia

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in Kefalonia.

After the 30 min drive from the Airport we were greeted by Adrian, who is taking care of the property. He explained the house and everything else, and the holiday just started right there.

The house was great, everything in perfect shape and the kids loved the pool. We visited all the places in the north, and had a very relaxing holiday.

The place is highly recommended if you look for a high-standard property as a starting point for individual travels on the island. Or hang out a day or two at the villa, enjoying the pool and the great views.

From the Owner

Villa Drakondas is set in a superb location in Zola. The views over the bay, towards Assos, are stunning. It is only a few minutes from the villa to the very long beach in the bay below. There are a couple of local tavernas in this quiet hamlet, the nearest being next to the beach. If you like fish then this is definitely the place to go. It has a reputation as one of the best tavernas on the island for fresh fish. It is a rustic place right next to the busy little harbour and captures the true feeling of the island. Instead you might just want to sit on one of the many large verandas or balcony and watch the sun rise over the mountain or watch the goats in the valley below. If it's peace you want then this is the right place.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Argostoli at 25 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : at 500 Metres Nearest Ferry : Sami at 20 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : at 500 Metres Nearest Beach : Agia Kiriaki at 1 Kilometres Car: necessary

Special interest holidays:

Kefalonia is a beautiful mountainous island with an abundance of different beaches to suit everyone. If you like walking then this unspoilt landscape is perfect as there are many tracks and trails to explore including some just a short walk from the villa. Springtime is particularly lovely for a walking or cycling holiday as the island is warm and so green and colourful. Our passion is diving and if you haven't tried it before, there is an opportunity to do a 'try dive' and have it videoed at nearby Agia Efimia. Besides this there are the Drogarati Caves to explore or the underground Melissani Lake to take a boat ride on. There are also castles, a vineyard, monastery and a whole host of other places to explore. All are within easy reach of Zola.

As Kefalonia is an island there are numerous beaches both pebbly and sandy. The nearest to the villa are Vouti and Agia Kiriaki beaches. These are a 5 minute drive and Agia Kiriaki can be seen from the villa. You can listen to the sound of the waves at night. There is a small harbour at this beach and it is possible to hire boats from here. The fabulous Myrtos beach is a short 30 minute drive and is one of the most photographed beaches in the world. Not to be missed.

Argostoli airport approximately 40 minute drive. Sami port approximately 30 minute drive. Hiring a car is necessary.

Nearest mini-market and garage 10 mins away on the opposite side of the valley. For shopping and a rich variety of tavernas etc, Lixouri is a short 20 minute drive and the capital Argostoli is 30 minutes. Here you will also find freshly caught fish straight off the boats and a wonderful array of fresh fruit and vegetables at the seashore market.

From the Owner

If you enjoy walking there are countless beaches and mountain tracks to explore. The villa is on a small track which means there is no busy road or constant drone of traffic. Wander down the track and have a look at the old bath house which still has running water and a fig tree growing out of the walls. Fascinating. Wherever you want to visit on the island, nowhere is too far from Zola. If like us, you are keen divers you might want to visit the dive shop in Agios Effimia, or maybe you would prefer the more bustling large towns of Argostoli and Lixouri. Zola is fantastically situated to give you a short drive to any of these amongst many other superb locations.
