About the Owner

We are a friendly Norwegian family, who bought this villa 9 years ago. The villa is comfortable for the whole family (and friends) together, as the rooms are large and spacious and so are the outside areas. We like to keep our villa and property in a good condition and the winter of -12 we renovated our kitchen with brand new cabinets, counter tops and electrical appliances. As we only use the villa for a few weeks per year, we have decided to give it for rent, and trust people to treat interior and exterior like in their own home.

Dear Inger,

We have only been back home for a few days, but already we all long to be back in Geris, in your wonderful villa! You have created the most wonderful home in Turkey - we have stayed in many, many, private villas all over Europe and beyond, but Villa Hostra is by far the most tastefully furnished and well-equipped - not to mention the one with the most stunning location and views! The girls have already posted their holiday photos up on their Facebook pages and received several comments and I have also passed on the villa details to a close neighbour who is interested in staying at some point in the autumn. Jo Goodship, June 2011

Dear Inger and Morten. Just like to say thank you for trusting us with your delightful villa, we had a great holiday and where sorry to leave. You have done a very good job with the villa and obviously have a flair for design and you where right the smell of fresh bread was great in the morning ! Susan and Geoff C

Perfect Holiday Home

Villa Hostra is furnished and equipped tastefully and with absolutely everything you you might need. The interior has fans and air-conditioning in the bedrooms which aids a good night sleep in the hot weather. The pool area outside has lots of different seating in both sun and shade and two big tables and chairs for al fresco meals. We couldn't fault a thing.

Being up the hill and away from the town suited us and we walked (some ran in the early morning!) through the olive groves and all over the hills. The views are amazing. It was an easy drive into town for shopping and restaurants and the local people were very friendly. We had some great food in many different restaurants in and around the seafront and Panorama restaurant is a short walk up the hill.

Our day trip to Ephesus was long but so worthwhile. There was so much to see, so well preserved and still only 18% uncovered! Mid August isn't the best time for sight seeing as it is so hot, but we got there early with lots of bottled water and had a brilliant time and were back in the pool by the end of the afternoon. Bodrum is less than half an hour away and there are interesting villages all around the peninsular.

We loved Turkey and found it better value for money than much of Europe this year. Villa Hostra and the help provided by the owner Inger comes highly recommended!

Fantastic Villa!

  • 5 of 5

The house is set up on the hill with great views down to Yalikavak which is a short 5 minute drive away.

We spent a lot of time relaxing around the pool on the many deck chairs, cushions and sunbeds that are provided with plenty of space even when our group had the villa at full capacity.

The kitchen is modern and very well and thoughtfully equipped with all the things you could need to a high standard and was very good for our large group.

There are multiple places you can all eat together, from a large dining table inside, to a sheltered table on the balcony with great views and then the chairs and tables by the pool with the BBQ also there (though buying meat from shops can be expensive it turns out!).

The property was very clean and well kept, all the decorations and fittings were tasteful and showed how they really do look after it as their own home giving the place a really nice feel to it.

We enjoyed many meals out in Yalikavak where we found a wide selection of places to eat and also really enjoyed visiting Bodrum multiple times. The Aquapark is also worth a visit if you enjoy water slides! We went with Direct Tours to Ephesus which is definitely worth a visit but is a long day with all the travelling (and they take you to a strange jewellery shop and the guides English and knowledge was poor), included in that was Turkish baths and a boat trip which we could go on at any time which was fun. We loved the villa so much we spent most of our time lazing around the pool during the many of our days there.

We loved our time here and would definitely recommend it and would consider going back. Thanks Inger and Morten for letting us stay!

A little slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

Thank you thank you Inger for renting us your villa at pretty much last minute notice :-) My husband and I had the most wonderful two week holiday!

The villa is up high on the hill in Geris but a pretty easy drive up from the main road and really doesn't take long. The views from the villa are STUNNING. I wish I had that view every day. You also have the incredible view from the master bedroom window which was lovely to wake up to in the morning.

The villa is spacious, particularly for two people and really well decorated, very stylish. Kitchen fantastic with everything you could possibly need. We loved the villa so much we ate 'in' most evenings, watching the sun go down.

Pool area is also lovely and so hot actually very good to have the sail up over half the pool.

Do visit the Panorama restaurant (or similar name), just a bit further up the hill in Geris. The food, particularly breakfast was superb and again incredible views.

We would love to return to this fab villa and we love the area. Plenty to see and do or if you preference is to relax, then just relax. Highly recommended.... we didn't want to leave.

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

This property is the perfect retreat for a holiday. It is set high on the hill in Geris village, next to olive trees, with stunning views across the Aegian islands and wonderful sunsets can be enjoyed in the evenings.

The villa is spacious and tastefully decorated. It is also excellently appointed with everything that you could possibly require - internet, washing machine, TV and DVD, dishwasher etc.

The owner is very friendly and nice. She is also extremely efficient and thoughtful; helping with arrangements necessary for transfer to and from the airport and ensuring everything is in place for your stay.

We liked the property and location so much the first time that we stayed that we wanted to return the following year - and shall keep going........

Location

From the Owner

We love the area and the Turkish people. People are very friendly, and usually give an excellent service wherever you go. The villa is situated in a quiet area with a brethtaking view and wonderful nature with an olive farm as our next door neighbour. We always feel very safe and relaxed when we are there. On the other hand you will find lively and vibrant beaches, restaurants etc within short driving distance and an old, small and charming village by walking distance.

Activity and Interests

Car: recommended

Special interest holidays:

The area is full of historical places. The ancient city of Myndos (Gemusluk) is 15 min drive from the villa.

Coast/Beach:

There are several beaches and piers from 5-10 minutes drive away or journey on dolmus local transport and within 30 min transport you have a large selection of beaches, from the quiet and 'hidden' ones to the famous and popular Zuma Beach. The village of Yalikavak, with its many different cafes and restaurants, famous marina and harbour is a 10 min drive. There are a row with picturesque and very charming fish restaurants by the sea close to Yalikavak, about 7 min drive away (or with dolmus).

Travel:

Nearest airport, Bodrum Milas, is about 50 minutes drive. Car hire, available from the airport, is recommended to take advantage of the facilities of the Bodrum Peninsula. Alternatively, a taxi from the airport is about 50 euros to the villa. We can also assist in booking minibus transfers, from the airport or other distances.

Distances:

Yalikavak is about 3km away, 6/7 min with car or dolmus transportation. The city of Bodrum is about 30 min drive or dolmus ride away. Gemusluk is about 15 min drive. Geris village is 5 min walk away.

Further Details:

The village of Yalikavak is lively all year around. It has many good beaches and there are many good restaurants and cafes where fresh fish, mezes and other foods can be enjoyed at water front tables witch are candlelit at night. Very charming and romantic. There is a large Thursday market (Bazar) in Yalikavak selling fresh and dry produce, clothes, textiles and leather products.
