Overview

About the property

Thorpe Market, North Norfolk - Cromer 10min drive away

This cottage was my home for 6 years, I loved it so much I couldn't bear to part with it, and now continue to enjoy it myself and enjoy other's enjoyment of it !

The railway line to the rear of cottage has frequent trains to Sheringham from where a steam train runs to Holt in summer months and to the unique city of Norwich via the Broads.

There are numerous beautiful beaches and National Trust properties within day visit distance. Felbrigg Hall and Blickling are always popular. www.nationaltrust.org.uk

The newly extended Norfolk Coast Path runs along the coast about 10mins drive away. www.nationaltrail.co.uk/peddars-way-and-norfolk-coast-path. Walks and cycles can be taken directly from the cottage along footpaths and a network of quiet lanes.

There are also many child friendly attractions in the area- shire horses, seal trips, maize mazes etc.

Bewilderwood is a hit with the young ones www.bewilderwood.co.uk.

The cottage is the middle of a terrace of three with fields to front and rear. There is small courtyard garden to the rear of the cottage and a large secluded front garden with summer house. Please note the cottage is accessed by an unadopted road and may be unsuitable for vehicles with a low chassis, there is a pond in the front garden.

I just love the cottage... love others to love it and want to keep it for me to visit and to return to permanently in the future. ...I hope you visit and I hope you enjoy...

Ali Dean purchased this cottage in 1998

Tired in need of a spruce up

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed the North Norfolk coast the beaches are amazing. The cottage itself could do with a spruce up as it is looking decidedly tired with finishing touches needing attention. The wild garden in need of a good prune back such lovely plants left to go wild. There was a bad drainage smell in the bathroom which was off putting, it was a shame as otherwise it could be a lovely cottage. We have stayed in many others mainly in Cornwall that were of a much higher standard for the same price.

Owner's Response: I am sorry to hear that some aspects of the cottage did not live up to expectations. The front garden is attended to weekly the rear garden is only accessible via the cottage so is not attended to when visitors are in residence in order to maintain their privacy I will look into whether this needs reviewing. There has not been a problem with the bathroom drain and this will be investigated. I am glad you enjoyed the area. Winter maintenance programme is due as normal later this year.

Complete relax and recharge

  • 5 of 5

I love this cottage. It has become my home away from home. There is everything you want secreted somewhere in the house. It's perfectly situated in peaceful countryside and I'm picky whennit come to noise. The beaches are a few minutes away by car. I have my morning coffee in the wild back garden on a bench in the sun and write journals in the front garden in the evening surrounded bysweet smelling foliage and fruit trees. There's a corner of bliss to suit every mood in the garden or the house. Theres a reason I go back as much as I possibly can!

Comfortable.

  • 4 of 5

It was our first cottage stay so we don't have anything to compare it to.

The cottage was in a nice location and there was plenty of things to keep you occupied. The only thing I will criticise is the rear garden could been a bit less wild.

A charming, comfortable cottage in very tranquil setting and with easy access to many places.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed every minute of our stay with its clear views over fields to the rear of the cottage, surrounded by birdsong.

Ali had provided everything you could possibly want from a holiday home and, had the weather been warmer, her garden would have been a pleasure to sit in and pass the time away.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay, Ali provided everything we could possibly want to make our stay enjoyable. It is in a great location and only a short drive or rail journey to the coast. We had such a great stay we have booked again for 2016.
