Updated: 28-Aug-2016
3 bedroom house with large pool. 2 minutes walk to lovely main beach and 5 minutes walk to shops and restaurants.

The house is in a perfect location within a short walk of the fabulous main Alcossebre beach and the town centre. The house, which is on a small gated community of 28 has a private enclosed garden, upstairs and downstairs terraces and shares a large pool. The house and location are perfect for families or those who don't want the hassle of having to use the car every time they go out. About the Owner

Dave and Sally Derham live in an old farmhouse on the outskirts of Bristol. Dave runs his own coaching and consultancy business whilst Sally is a therapist specialising in panic attacks and phobias, working largely on the recommendation of local GP's. Dave and Sally have always been keen on property design and serious DIY. They are currently carrying out their most ambitious project to date - a barn conversion, which they plan to move into as soon as it is finished. They are doing most of the building work themselves and have found it a massive learning exercise! As well as doing therapy work, Sally works with a local rescue centre to rehabilitate problematic dogs which have been abandoned. Dave relaxes by playing guitar and rebuilding classic cars and motorcycles.

Great House in Alcossebre

  • 5 of 5

We found the house to be exactly as advertised. In an ideal location, close to the beach, shops and restaurants. The house was clean and well equipped, perfect for a relaxing family holiday. The owners ensured we had all the information we needed for our stay and gave us the details of places to visit, some very good restaurants which we thoroughly enjoyed and were very helpful with any queries/requests we had. Alcossebre is a pretty place to visit, with lovely sandy beaches, we would recommend to family and friends. We hope to visit ourselves again soon.

Relaxing Holiday House

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful and spacious three bedroom house in a great location, just a couple of minutes walk to a beautiful sandy beach. Plus the added bonus of a shared pool to use on the small complex of houses. Which was a must have for our children.

The property was very clean, well maintained and equipped with everything that we needed including a washing machine and downstairs cloakroom.

It has a large lounge and outside garden terrace. The rooms all have balconies which made the property seem more spacious as we could sit outside in the sunshine relaxing reading a book.

Nothing was too much trouble for Dave and Sally who answered all our questions and were so welcoming. Calling us at the house on the first day to check that we had settled in.

We would highly recommend this property. It was over forty degrees when we visited. Which meant that we went out sightseeing during the day and to the beach at about 5pm when it was cooler.

We would recommend that you visit Vinaros, Peniscola, and Morella.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review. We are extremely pleased that you enjoyed your stay so much. It looks like you were a bit unlucky with the temperature as it is not ususally that hot even in August, but we are pleased that you used that as an excuse to tour the wonderful region during the hottest times. We agree with your suggestions of places to visit. Thank you for choosing our house for your holiday.

Excellent accomodation and service from the owners

  • 5 of 5

Dave and Sally provided excellent service before and during our stay at their lovely house including a detailed and really useful information pack about the house, location and surrounding area. The welcome pack provided was a lovely surprise and meant that we did not have to immediately stock up on essentials. The accommodation did not disappoint and was spotlessly clean and provided everything we needed throughout our stay. The rooms were light and airy and the outside space was private and secure and a lovely area to enjoy alfresco dining and drinking. There were birds nesting on the patio when we arrived and we were lucky enough to see the chicks take their first flight and leave the nest.

The house is in an excellent location, only 5 minutes from the beach and close to all the bars and restaurants but despite this close proximity you hear very little noise. It was really hot during our stay and the fans provided were welcome.

We will definitely stay again in this lovely house if we visit the area again and thank Dave and Sally for allowing us to stay in their beautiful home.

Great accomodation in Alcossebre

  • 5 of 5

We had a great two weeks in Alcossebre. The house was clean, well maintained and had everything we needed including a lovely terraced garden which was perfect for day time relaxing and evening barbecues. A short stroll from the superb beach, local cafes and town. Looking forward to our next trip.

difficult to beat!

  • 4 of 5

Exactly what we'd hoped for. Quiet, clean and pleasant villa with private garden. The communal pool was lovely and mostly we had it to ourselves. A fantastic beach literally 5 minutes stroll from the villa. And the restaurants are all within a short walk. Definitely a Spanish destination with few British and friendly despite our limited Spanish - you do need a phrase book! It was definitely not a 'high rise resort'. Plenty of places to visit with lots of great suggestions from the owners. Good places to eat - we had a superb meal at El Patio. You must go up to the church you can see from the villa - stunning views. Really recommend it.

Great villa in a great location

  • 5 of 5

This is a great villa in a great location. It was very clean and had good supplies for us to use and top up e.g. food, milk, beer, BBQ coals etc. Fans in room to help keep cool and a WiFi hotspot for e-mail browsing. The pool was also lovely and a delight to use. Alcossebre is a gem - lovely beaches and a charm to stroll around during the evening. Lastly, the owners were very helpful with our ad-hoc queries - full marks!

Location

From the Owner

We first visited the Cost Del Azahar in 1996 and fell in love with it immediately. It is a very rare jewel which has retained its genuine Spanish charm and has avoided the blight of mass tourism. Having spent several holidays exploring the area and looking for our ideal property, we finally found our dream and bought the house in 2002. Shortly after this, we both started working for ourselves and are now able to spend a lot more time in Spain. The more time we spend there the more we love it.

Valencia airport is just over 1 hour by car.

Reus airport is 1.5 hours by car.

Barcelona 2.5 hours. Benicassim water park 20 minutes.

Further Details:

Alcossebre is a rare jewel on the Spanish coastline. It has managed to retain its Spanish charm and has not been spoiled by mass tourism. This applies to the majority of the Costa Azahar, which is the main orange producing area of Spain. There a many traditional Spanish towns within a short drive as well as some stunning scenery. The towns of Peniscola and Morella are certainly worth visiting.

Facilities

From the Owner

Alcossebre is a wonderfully relaxing place to be. We feel the weight fall off our shoulders every time we arrive! The character of the place changes throughout the year, which makes it very interesting. In winter it is quite quiet, but significantly warmer and sunnier than the UK. In peak season there is a real buzz about the place. We really like the fact that Alcossebre is not full of Brits - the majority of people there are Spanish, although there is a nice mixture of British, French, German, Dutch and Scandinavian visitors. Enough people here speak English to make life easy. There is a great choice of restaurants within a short walk. The beaches are fabulous. There is a endless list of great places to visit if you are the exploring type - which we are!
