About the property

Stunning, next to coast path!

The Coach House is situated in over 2 acres of grounds above unspoilt Cadgwith Cove on Cornwall's stunning Lizard Peninsula. The Devil's Frying Pan and coastal path are only approx 50 yards from the property. The working fishing village of Cadgwith Cove with it's stone and thatched cottages, pub, tea rooms, gift shops and beaches, is also only a few minutes walk. Poppy & Willow cottages are quiet, tastefully decorated 2 bed roomed properties, perfect for families or couples, whilst Henrietta and The Old Coach are unique oak framed vintage railway carriages. Both carriages have been here since the 1920's, and are just perfect for a romantic break. There is also a stream, goats, ducks and chickens! With wooded areas bordering 3 sides of the grounds, there is a wealth of wildlife including foxes, badgers and bird-life. The main house was re-built in late 2008-2009 and now offers 2 'cottage-style' holiday lets. Each property is equipped with a modern kitchen (including washing machine - except the Old Coach), Freeview, internet access (cottages only) and all have a private garden with picnic table, lights and BBQ. Guests are encouraged to make use of the grounds and picnic tables, and children love feeding the animals!

'The Fisherman's Apprentice' Monty Halls and his partner stayed with us in Willow for 4 months, whilst filming in Cadgwith. Their daughter was born whilst living here, and Willow was her first home!

About paula

We have lived in Cadgwith for ten years now. We fell in love with the area many years ago (Paula has been coming here since she was a small child) so when the chance came to move here with our three children, we simply couldn't resist it.

paula purchased this cottage in 2006

Why paula chose Cadgwith

We have always loved Cornwall and in particular the Lizard. Having visited Cadgwith many times over the years, we never dreamt we would be given the opportunity to live here in such a beautiful and spectacular location. With it's working fishing beach, swimming beach, friendly pub and shops/cafes, Cadgwith offers a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The spectacular coastline offers unique walking opportunities either in the summer or even when winter storms pound the granite and serpentine of the rugged local coastline. Paul regularly contributes on a Tuesday evening in the pub, where he is well known for playing his guitar, bouzouki and even his double bass!

What makes this cottage unique

There are a number of benefits in staying in Poppy or Willow. Both properties are built and equipped to a high modern standard but retain a relaxed cottage style charm. You can choose to relax in the quiet surroundings offered by the large grounds and stream or you can take advantage of the proximity to the Coastal Path and the Cove itself. The Cadgwith Cove Inn and Cellars Restaurant are within walking distance and both offer evening meals. Locally caught fresh fish can be bought daily in the Cove. Live music is also available in the pub with Folk Night on a Tuesday Night and local singers on a Friday night.

An absolute haven for us...

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Poppy at The Coach House was a special, beautiful break.

The drive up the hill to the property was stunning in itself, but when we arrived and pulled in, we were pretty much gobsmacked at how lovely the setting was. We were greeted by the lovely Paula, who is such a lovely host - we immediately felt at home and settled in - we did not want to leave!

The cottage itself we beautiful, cosy and homely and the scones, cornish butter, cream and jam on arrival was amazing.

We plan on coming to stay again in the near future and have found our special place to visit again and again. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Burnham on Crouch

Perfect location to explore the myriad of coves and beaches in the area.

  • 5 of 5

Poppy allows dogs and we settled in quickly with our two. The accommodation was well equipped, very comfortable, warm and inviting. Everything we needed was to hand. A complimentary cream tea was laid out for us on arrival. Paula the owner is on hand to help with any questions if needed. The cottage was tastefully decorated with a Christmas tree and fairy lights. The sitting area was comfortable as was the double bed and all the facilities were spotlessly clean. It’s a bit of a steep walk down to the cove (and back) but well worth the effort. Lizard’s local butchers are world champions hogs’ pudding makers, a Cornish delicacy, and the local dairy shop is worth a visit. We explored the whole region from Helford to Sennen Cove, Helston to Penzance. This is a great base to explore north and south Cornwall. We couldn’t have been happier with our choice of venue for Christmas.

This is an absolutely fantastic place to stay for a relaxing break with outstanding facilities.

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for a weekend out of season with our two dogs and had a thoroughly nice time in this very well equipped cottage. Ideal location for visiting the local attractions or walking the coastal path. Short walk down to the local pub but a bit of a hike back up the hill afterward!! No hesitation in recommending The Coachhouse to friends and family and hope to visit again next year - First Class..

2nd visit and we will return ....

  • 5 of 5

Very welcoming cottage set in lovely grounds. This was our second stay and it certainly lived up to all the good memories that we had from our first stay. Scones jam and clotted cream on arrival, very clean and cosy cottage in an excellent location. The cottage has all the essentials that you need and more, and lots of hot water if you have been out walking the coastal path. We stayed in Poppy Cottage and had family also staying in Willow cottage which worked really well for us all. Paula popped in to see us to check we had everything we needed and then left us to it which was nice to know if we should have needed anything. We also enjoyed the walk down to the cove and the local pub where the people were all very friendly and we had a very good Sunday roast. The last time we stayed we enjoyed the singing of the locals in the pub on the Friday night making us feel very welcome. We have decided that next time we return we will have to stay a week rather than a long weekend!

Beautiful location and great to explore from

  • 5 of 5

Had a lovely peaceful week. Location of house was great, although a car is required as with most places in Cornwall. However a lovely villiage within walking distance with a friendly local to enjoy. House was clean and everything you needed was provided with the friendly offer of help if required

Modern, well equiped

  • 4 of 5

Good situation just a few minutes walk from the village. Not the easiest place to find and you do need to be careful driving through the very narrow lanes. The accomodation is attached to the owners house and is modern and well equiped although a freezer section in the fridge would have been helpful. When you arrive there is a generous cream tea waiting for you including tea, scones, cream, jam and milk, this is a really nice touch. The bathroom is also very modern with an electric shower of decent pressure very welcome after a day out walking the rugged Cornish coast. I would just mention that the towels could be bigger, I am not particularly large but the towels only just about went round me. There is some local info available at the accomodation which we found helpful. The accomodation is well situated for travelling arround the Lizard area with several walks from the village and only short drives to many of the other villages. A very enjoyable week, the weather as changeable as ever but never affects the pleasure of being in this lovely part of the world.
