Farmhouse in Trevarren, Nr. Newquay, Cornwall, England - Ideal For Families, 10-15 Minute Drive From Newquay And Padstow

The Old Farmhouse is situated in Trevarren a small hamlet near St Columb Major. Some parts of the structure are original Cornish cob. Despite its quiet location it has excellent access to Cornwall's major routes and is within a mile of local shops and a fish restaurant. The Farmhouse is furnished as a comfortable family home with a real log burner in the lounge, a large family dining area, and table tennis, table football and a mini snooker table in the games annexe. The rear garden is secluded and overlooks fields. There are 3 double bedrooms and a children's room containing 3 bunk beds. Newquay Airport is only 5 miles away with Newquay, Padstow and most north coast beaches within a 10-15 minute drive. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A FAMILY ORIENTATED PROPERTY AND WE DO NOT ACCEPT BOOKINGS FROM LARGE SAME SEX GROUPS.

About The Owner

The Old Farmhouse has been in the Marsh family since 1996. Most of this time it has been a family holiday home catering at times for up to 20 people! It is still owned by Fred and Brenda Marsh - our parents, both (supposedly) retired now and in their 80's. Fred was originally in telecom electronics and did his National Service in the Royal Navy based at RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall - that's his ship you can see in the picture in the dining room! Day to day running and the taking of bookings is now done by their children (us). Home for Fred and Brenda is in Hertfordshire, after 50 years of living in North London.

The Owner purchased this farmhouse in 1996

Why The Owner chose Cornwall

Family holidays in the 70s and 80s were taken in Cornwall but always under canvas! Fortunately the younger generation rebelled and 'forced' Mum and Dad to invest in bricks and mortar - hence the Old Farmhouse. The place has been treated as a real home from home over the years with four generations of our family there at once, on some occasions - there are some family pictures and a lot of memories around the place. The beaches and the places we visit during our time spent there now are the same as when we were kids - they still hold the same fascination.

What makes this farmhouse unique

This is a excellent chill out house - family dining, playing cards, American table tennis and dozing in front of the real fire. This is usually because during the day we are hiking along the coastal paths, playing cricket on the beach or body-boarding in the surf. It's good to then cook a nice dinner and sink a few glasses of wine, as there is enough crockery, cooker space and cutlery to feed all your guests! Finally when we are too tired to cook we get pasties from the world famous Chough Bakery at Padstow or grab a meal at the local Port and Starboard fish and chip restaurant - fantastic quality. Close second is the Merrymoor Inn at Mawgan Porth - don't be put off by the outside the food is very good.

Notes on accommodation: There is often kindling provided for lighting the log burner, sometimes logs too. The property is strictly no smoking. Whilst pets are allowed we kindly ask that they are not allowed into the bedrooms. Outside: There is a picnic table and tree swing in the rear garden. Sun loungers, games nets, bats and balls can be found in the garage. Utility Room: Dishwasher, washing machine, large sink. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Although duvets and pillows are provided you will need to provide your own bed linen and towels. The property will be cleaned after each let but we would ask that you endeavour to leave it in good order. Other: Games annexe and garage equipped with surfboards, wetsuits, sun loungers, garden games, kites, table tennis, mini snooker table, table football, cloakroom, children's toys and games. There is a travel cot and high chair. WIFI is available

Fantastic!

Everything we needed was all there, the children fell in love with the house and the playroom. Facilities fab. All was nice and clean when arrived and location was great for most popular towns

Amazing holiday yet again!!

Well, what a fantastic stay we had yet again! The Old Farmhouse is a real home from home. We first stayed here in 2013 - 10 of us all together. The 10 of use returned again this year and had a fabulous stay.

The games annexe was a massive hit again. The kids loved spending time playing with the lego, race tracks, table tennis and pool table. The rooms are spacious and clean with plenty of facilities.

The farmhouse is only about 15-20 mins away from Newquay and Padstow, and is very accessible. It's peaceful location is fantastic and relaxing, whilst also the location is great as it's so close to the major routes.

The only thing I could say is that the pillows could do with updating along with some of the mattresses. We also had great difficulty controlling your amazing new central heating (we are slight techno-fobes ;) ) The cooker was also a bit of a pain - it's huge and when we stayed in 2013, it worked a treat! As you can imagine cooking for 10 people can, at times be hard work! This year we noticed that a few of the knobs were faulty and also found that some of the rings on the hob didn't work.

Of course, these are MINOR issues and we really did have a FANTASTIC stay!! I would recommend the Farmhouse to everybody as it's so versatile!! 5* from me!! I really really cannot wait to come back again!! Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday. xx
