About the Owner

My family and I have always loved coming to Norfolk. I bought the cottage in 2002 and have had fun renovating it. I live and work in Leicester so within 2 hours I can be at the cottage. It is a world away from city life and a real stress buster, I love just 'being' in North Norfolk - I can quite describe what I do there, as there seems to be no agenda and the days drift by. Good food and drink are important to me, so over the years I know where to go and what to avoid! Do contact me for any suggestions on what to do and where to go.

The cottage was built in 1790 it now has all mod cons. It has an enclosed garden which is a lovely sun trap, ideal for eating outside. There is a parking space outside the door.

There is a great pub in walking distance in the pretty village. The green has a playground and a stream with ducks. A few miles away is the fashionable Georgian town of Burham Market which has excellent food and clothes shops as well as the famous Hoste Arms Inn.

The North Norfolk Coast line and beautiful beaches are about 6 miles away.

I have used this cottage on several occasions and have found it clean, cosy and of a high standard. The village itself is delightful and for me a great base for exploring the many attractions. In the summer the private garden is a sun trap and delightful for outside dining. Mr. G. Knight, Leicester

Fantastic stay in this quaint cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time in Chapel Cottage - it was well kitted out and spotlessly clean. Rosie was incredibly helpful and very quick (and accommodating) to respond to our queries.

The only way we'd see to improve the cottage would be to reinstate the shower in the downstairs bathroom so that not everyone has to use the master en-suite if you prefer a shower to a bath.

We had a fantastic stay in this quaint cottage. It is in a small village with a lovely local pub and green.

We would stay again!

A wonderful cottage in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Two families of 3 shared the cottage for a 50th birthday weekend. The cottage was beautiful, clean and well presented. There was plenty of car parking space in our own private paddock for about 5 cars. The cottage was well looked after and cared for. The back garden has a nice enclosed area, with a beautiful decked and stoned area. We lit the chimney and must of sat out till 1 in the morning. The kids had room to run around and play in, we took a little paddling pool and water guns which kept them amused. There is patio door to the living room so at night the kids could snuggle down with a dvd while the adults still sat out. Also access via a stable door to the kitchen. The kitchen was well equipped and heating hot water cooker etc was all easy to use. plenty of fridge space and unit space to make the traditional holiday fry up each morning. There were 3 lovely bedroom, the children had bunk beds in one room, a double room for one couple and a master double with on suite. This had a toilet and a good shower in which was used by all. The downstairs bathroom had a bath and toilet. Everything was decorated beautiful and in keeping with such a stunning cobbled cottage. The neighbourhood was very quaint, there is a ford to drive through, a play area and ducks to feed. They visited every morning for breakfast. We would love to go back again, loads to do in the area, Cromer crab fishing wells and the beach and lots of nice walks. We even saw seals. All in all I would highly recommend the place I was perfect for a break. Bedding was provided, the beds were very comfortable. The cottage was easily big enough for the 6 of us, and the kids loved it. They did leave feedback in your guest book for you rosie. Thank you so much great communication and brilliant service, not a negative comment to make. x

Lovely stay amazing area

  • 5 of 5

Having just got back from a weekend break at Chapel cottage It was the perfect break. The cottage is lovely, cosy yet spacious with all amenities you would want. The outside space was a suntrap and used extensively. All rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable. The added bonus of two bathrooms was a real treat in a cottage of this age. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. Bedroom too was perfect. The local area has a good pub within walking distance and a great crab shack to buy local shellfish from also just 5 mins walk. The area in general is lovely. Burnham market, 10 minutes drive is a delight and well worth a visit. We also managed to fit in a morning in Wells and an afternoon on Holkham Beach, both were fantastic experiences and only a very short drive. In summary I would thoroughly recommend the cottage for your stay, Rosie gave us all the information we needed or requested and we felt was always contactable should we need to. I guess the only issue was a lack of phone signal locally, however if you're looking for a quiet break from a stressful life this may be a godsend to many !!.

Thanks Rosie for an unforgettable break

Owner's Response: WOW!! What a review! Thank you so much. I get such a thrill when someone enjoys the cottage and the joy of the area as much as I do. In fact the whole experience just gets better and better the more you immerse yourself in it - no matter what the season. I look forward to welcoming you back to Chapel cottage soon! Regards, Rosie.

We had a fantastic stay in the cottage. The cottage had everything we needed and was only a 20 million n drive from the beaches and attractions. It had a lovely garden which we were able to enjoy in the sunshine.

Really lovely cottage in a peaceful and pretty location. Conveniently situated for walks and the coast and other places of interest, in and around North Norfolk. The cottage is extremely well equipped with all you need to make it a home-away-from-home, very clean and comfy. Lots of parking for when visitors dropped by. (This is a bonus on these little village roads). We would love to go back to Chapel Cottage, some day and certainly recommend it to others. Thank you :)

From the Owner

I have a love of England and especially the chance to get away from city life. I never tire of Norfolk and I love the place no matter what season or the weather. People ask me what I do in Norfolk, well often I just say that being there is enough. There is always a wildness to the place and plenty of fabulous food and drink locations which is what I have a passion for. Its a world away and a little corner that will be forever England It is a pleasure to welcome you to my cottage and I hope that you can enjoy a taste of what this beautiful county has to offer. Kind regards Rosie

The North Norfolk coast is always popular with bird watchers. There is a nature reserve at Titchwell and Holme-next-the sea.

It is a food lovers paradise too.

The cottage is situated about 6 miles from the wide expanses of the North Norfolk coast and its beautiful beaches. Holkham. Brancaster and Wells beaches are popular

However due to vastness of the coastline there are many areas where you can be away from the crowds even in the height of the season.

There are areas of marshland which attract an abundance of wildlife - it is a bird watchers paradise.

Local trips to see the seals are popular and entertaining

kite surfing/ kart is at Hunstanton.

There is no need to venture outside the pretty village of South Creake. However if you do, then the use of a car is recommended as the bus link is infrequent.

Further Details:

This area is a food lovers paradise. There is an abundance of seasonal produce. Across the village green is a home shop which sells vegetables grown on local allotments. The Creake crab shed is in the village and sells gorgeous seafood.

Burnham Market has a fabulous Deli, bakery, butchers, fish shop, grocer and wine shop- they are highly recommended. It also has a bank ,cash point and Post Office. The Town of Fakenham (about 7 miles) has a Morrisons on the outskirts.

There is a decent pub called The Ostrich in the village and North Creake has the homely Jolly Farmers Inn. There are so many good pubs with a whole range of prices in the area - details in the cottage. Historically there are a number of Stately homes and Castles, the Sandringham and Holkham estates welcome visitors and have nice tearooms. Castle Rising and Castle Acre are well worth a visit. National Trust properties nearby include Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall and Sherringham Park. Hunstanton offers kite surfing, karting and a large funfair. Titchwell and Holme-next-the-sea are nature reserves and have a good reputation for bird watching. There are regular trips to see the seals further round the coast at Blakeney and Morston. Walsingham has a good farm shop and a narrow gauge railway that runs 4 miles to Wells in the summer. Train enthusiasts will also love the North Norfolk steam railway and the Bure Valley steam railway. During September there is a South Creake music festival that attracts international musicians.

From the Owner

The cottage is a bit like a tardis - it appears small from the outside but has ample room in. During the summer months it is lovely to eat outside and relax in the privacy of the enclosed garden. To the front there is masses of off road parking so you can unload easily. The village itself is really pretty and its great to wander up to the garden centre, across to the Crab shed, pick up some local veg and have a drink or two at the Ostrich pub.
