The Eagles' Nest is a top-floor, lift-served, valley facing apartment in the heart of Morillon Les Esserts in the French Alps. With floor to ceiling glazing, underfloor heating, exposed wood beams and sloping rooflines, the apartment has a lovely penthouse feel as well as providing three double bedroom, two bathroom accommodation with free wifi. It is ideal for family use or even two families, depending on family size. The apartment is right at the foot of the main ski slope, giving unrivalled access to skiing and snowboarding in winter or mountain biking and alpine walking in the summer. It also comes with its own underground parking space. With views over the valley, you might even spot an eagle soaring. The interior is tastefully arranged with a high standard of fittings and furnishing for comfort and convenience. All bedrooms have sizable storage areas in cupboards under the eaves and have two bedside tables. Bedrooms 1 and 2 have valley-facing windows. Bedroom 3 has a velux window in the roof. In addition to the French satellite TV with the main BBC channels, there is also free wifi and internet plus all UK catch up TV, YouTube and complimentary Netflix on a Roku box. All internet and satellite services are subject to service availability. No liability can be accepted in the event of changes in availability or technical problems.

I live in Nottinghamshire UK with my wife, daughter and our pet labrador, Tilly. We both work but try to get as much time out in the Alps as possible. I am a keen skier and, on a voluntary basis, am a rep for the Ski Club of GB, leading some of their holidays.

I've always loved staying in authentic, smaller and quieter resorts Morillon fits the bill, being very French and linked in to the big Grand Massif area. The skiing in winter is superb, with 256km of great on and off piste skiing. The mountains and valley are also delightful in the summer with a good range of alpine walking, cycling, mountain biking, canoeing and other pursuits.

The apartment is penthouse style in the roof with lovely wooden beams and sloping ceilings. It is truly ski-in and ski-out with everything on the doorstep.

Traditional villages, all year round holiday activities and lifestyle, fantastic high altitude skiing, real history and stunning scenery were powerful reasons for purchasing in Morillon. The apartment has true Alpine character, light and airy with masses of glazing and a double-height living room with sloping ceilings up the apex of the roof.

What makes this apartment unique

It would be difficult to find a more convenient ski-in, ski-out location. The top of the building location of the apartment gives it a spacious penthouse feel as well as the reassurance of peace and quiet with no apartments above. The balcony is spacious with views out across the valley. With a set of tables and chairs. it is perfect for summer alfresco dining. My family regularly visits in the summer - the valley is fantastic, not just for the mountains but for rafting, via ferrata, high wires, the lac bleu swimming lake and beach. All this with hot but comfortable temperatures - typically up around 28 or 30 degree celcius.

'The apartment is a lovely place to relax after a good day's skiing. It is great to slob out on the sofas after a good meal around the table. Our family of four shared with another family of three and there was plenty of space for us not to be on top of each other. It is spacious and roomy and is warm, comfy and cosy at the same time. Excellent holiday in a superb apartment

Just returned from a great family ski-ing holiday staying in the ‘Eagles Nest’ - 6 adults in total.

Pre arrival information and communication with Dominic, the owner, could not be faulted.

The apartment was excellent in every respect and just as described in the description. It was clean and well presented on our arrival and easily accommodated six adults. The location is excellent in respect of accessing the ski lifts, ski slopes, ski hire, restaurants, boulangerie and its only a few minutes walk to the local supermarket. It has great views over the valley and the private underground car parking space was very convenient and was easily accessed from the apartment, which made arrivals and departure a breeze.

We usually rent ski in/ski out apartments and stay in higher altitude resorts so had a few concerns prior to arrival regarding the resort and hassle accessing the slopes but these concerns proved to be unfounded. As a mixed ability group, with two beginners, the ‘Eagles Nest’ and Morillon 1100 could not be faulted.

Overall an excellent holiday and we will definitely be considering renting the apartment again in the future.

Owner's Response: Yes, you step out of the apartment building and the ski slope and lift are right in front of you. North-facing slopes mean conditions are good. If you are renting skis, there is a choice of three ski hire shops right next to the apartment building. And there is a nearby well-stocked supermarket nearby as well as bars and restaurants so things couldn't be more convenient.

Fantastic apartment

An excellent apartment, convienantly located to the shops cafe and ski lifts. Clean, spacious and very well equipped the owners welcome pack is a nice touch getting you started what ever time you arrive. Large balcony with views down the valley is a nice place to sit out and relax.

Owner's Response: I'm glad you appreciated the welcome basket. It's great to welcome winter and summer guests in this way. This winter the welcome basked contained a carton of milk, orange juice, coffee, tea, sliced bread, cheese, ham, jam, cake and a bottle of wine. All the beds are made up, bed linen, face towels, bath towels and payment of the tourist tax are all covered by the rental price. My aim is to provide guests with a rental where the price you pay is actually the price and there are no annoying extra costs. When you arrive at the apartment, you can sit back and relax.

We had a brilliant stay in eagles nest, amazing views, brilliant location for everything. We loved Morillon 1100 great for having young children. Great customer service from owner. Thank you for great holiday

As good as always.....

Our 4th stay at the apartment and it's like a home from home. Dominic, the owner, is great to deal with and this year has put in wifi and streaming UK TV.

It's a great location for ski-in/ski-out, central for the shops and food, and right at the bottom of the main Sairon lift.

We love it here.

+ : Appartement magnifique, très bien équipé, avec une superbe vue sur la vallée. (séjour à 4 adultes et 4 enfants de 8 à 11 ans).

Très bien situé au pied des pistes

- : local à skis un peu juste car pas de possibilité de laisser les après-skis (uniquement les skis) . Prévoir les cadenas.

A 25% deposit secures the apartment for your stay. This deposit confirms the booking and is not refundable. Full payment is required 10 weeks before departure. A €500 (£400) damage deposit is also payable, refundable after your stay as long as there is no damage to the apartment or its contents. Tourist tax (taxe sejour) is paid by the owner on behalf of guests.
