Overview

About the property

In A Sought After Area of Old Gocek Within In A Private Walled Garden. Large Pool,Terraces And Fragrant Shrubs.

The house is one of a pair - the other is kept primarily for the owner's use - and can be rented as a whole or due to its construction, as one / two self contained apartments providing flexible accommodation. Both options are popular with adult couples and friends holidaying together. Guests return year after year to this idyllic part of Turkey. Set in a private walled garden, the villas share the large pool and are close to the sea. A car is not necessary as all amenities are within a 15min walk. However guests often choose to rent one for a few days to explore the inland villages, mountains and coastal areas. Unspoilt by mass tourism, this stunning region has been declared a special environmental protection area. Sit and enjoy a quiet drink, watching the yachts moor up for the night as the sun goes down over the mountains, before dining in one of the many restaurants. It is an excellent place for sailing, with a spectacular coastline, small islands and bays. Our 40' sailing yacht 'Sevinc' is occasionally available to guests on a skippered basis.

About Hilary Cook

We are based in rural Shropshire, UK, and now divide our time between here and our home in Gocek.

We first discovered Gocek in 2001, purely by chance when we stopped off for a couple of hours during a one week yachting holiday. The following week whilst staying in a cottage in Kayakoy, we could not resist visiting Gocek again. We had no idea that this would become our home three years later!

The following two years were spent enjoying the wonderful sailing in Croatia and it was here that we bought our locally crafted yacht. After exploring many possibilities, taking us to two or three countries, we decided to bring the yacht to Gocek, at the same time buying our property and starting a new life, post children. We have never looked back!

Hilary Cook purchased this apartment in 2004

Why Hilary Cook chose Lycian & Turquoise Coast

The accommodation is in a perfect, peaceful location and although not in a flight path, is only 25 mins from Dalaman airport.

The close proximity to the mountains, marinas, sea and village centre, together with the flexibility of the property accommodation, made it an ideal choice.

We are usually on hand to welcome our guests and to provide those extra special snippets of information! At the very least, we can offer a glass of chilled freshly made lemonade or a slice of lemon curd cake, made with lemons from our own trees - very popular with our local Turkish friends! A popular and idyllic place for sailing, Gocek does not cater for the package market. Although many locals gain most of their income from tourism, life in the surrounding villages and mountains continues much as it has done for centuries.

What makes this apartment unique

This is a very special part of Turkey, as many visitors have come to discover, several of them returning each year. With so much to see and do, spectacular scenery and historical sites, a temperate climate, the warm, genuine hospitality of the locals, and fresh locally produced food, Gocek provides the perfect place for a holiday.

Sailing for which the area is best known provides exhilaration, real relaxation, and the opportunity to visit beautiful places inaccessible by any other means. Mooring up overnight in a tiny bay gives us opportunities for quiet reading, fishing, swimming in the clear turquoise sea, snorkeling, enjoying good food, wine and spectacular sunsets.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We highly recommend this beautiful house away from the chaos of package holiday makers. In a peaceful location, it is ideally situated and dining out in the evening is superb. The owners are lovely people. Sailing around the islands was an unforgettable experience. Our fourth visit! The Gerard Family, Strasbourg, France.

Everything about Gocek and the house was just how we remembered it - fabulous! We loved the sailing to otherwise unreachable bays and the rustic restaurants. Perfect relaxation! Jane and Stuart James, Worcester

Thank you for allowing us to share your beautiful home for a relaxing 2 weeks - stunning scenery, deserted bays, great food and wine, wonderful sailing--- memories of which will stay with us. John and Julie, Belfast

Thank you for a perfect week of peace and relaxation and the wonderful day on Sevinc. Your hospitality could not have been bettered. Robert and Fiona. Kent

Wonderful holiday!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment at Villa Yasemin was very clean and comfortable, self contained, with a traditional Turkish theme. This was my first time to this part of Turkey and I was most impressed. The gardens were well kept with lovely fragrant shrubs and fruit trees surrounding the villas. The icing on the cake was the lovely pool sitting between the two properties with ample relaxing space to enjoy the sun. My friend and I also enjoyed the benefit of the covered veranda attached to the apartment . Villas are closely situated in a secluded part of old Gocek adjacent to pine forest and is very quiet ideal for friends, couples or family holidays.

The villas are approx 15-20 minute steady walk into the town and marina/harbour areas, however taxis are plentiful and very reasonable. The town itself is wonderfully relaxing with plenty of excellent restaurants to choose from with first class cuisine and service. Shops are varied with local crafts and specialities and fabulous supermarkets and delis, bakeries

Lovely Apartment/Villa in Gocek

  • 5 of 5

Yet another super relaxing holiday in this lovely ground floor apartment with shaded terrace. Have stayed at these apartments many times and just love the location comfort and amenities they have to offer. Introduced many friends to the delights of Gocek and we are never disappointed . Hilary and Tony always ensure that we have everything we need. A welcome pack is provided on arrival which is all one needs to get you started. Apartments are comfortable spacious and furnished in traditional Turkish style. There's a lovely pool and fragrant gardens to enjoy. The town is only 15-20 mins walk as is the marina and harbour . There's an abundance of good restaurants to enjoy as well as bars and some lovely shops delis and supernarmarkets. The local bakery is worth a visit as is the Sunday market for local produce. It's very reasonable to eat out at this sophisticated resort . A days sailing around the bay is a must and there are plenty of tourist trips available from the harbour. So looking forward to returning in September

What a find

  • 5 of 5

We are frequent visitors to Turkey and specifically the beautiful small coastal resorts within easy transfer of Dalaman Airport. We always aim to find somewhere different on each visit and what a delight it was to find Gocek, definitely our favourite location to date, so much so that we are breaking our golden rule of not visiting the same place twice and have already booked to return next year. We are even returning to Villa Yasemin!

From our first contact with Hilary and Tony to make an enquiry about the Villa to the day of our departure, their friendless and hospitality was fantastic. The Villa is set on the edge of a beautiful pine forest in a rural location and so peaceful, yet only a 10 - 15 minute walk from the beautiful centre of Gocek and the fabulous waterfront restaurants. Don’t be put off by one or two guide books that suggest Gocek is expensive and sometimes a little snobby, yes there are some exclusive marina restaurants which are pricier than some of the more traditional family run restaurants, but everywhere we visited was welcoming, friendly and affordable.

But to be honest the best part of our holiday was spent at the Villa, either lounging by the pool which is set in a beautifully maintained garden and only a few steps from the veranda or in the evening it was just magical sitting on veranda with a glass or two of wine contemplating how to spend the next sunny day in beautiful Gocek.

Villa Yasmin is delightful, a real credit to Hilary and Tony and we thank them for making our holiday so special (see you next June if not before!). Finally a quick mention about Turkey; if recent troubles have put you off visiting, we can honestly say that the people are so friendly and welcoming that you can’t help but feel safe and relaxed; we will definitely be encouraging our friends to make Turkey, Gocek and Villa Yasemin a future holiday destination.

Pure heaven, peace & tranquility

  • 5 of 5

Amazing setting with fruit trees and fragrant flowers; Hilary & Tony were brilliant hosts providing as much useful information as we wanted to take in. The accommodation was clean and practical, we spent most of our time on the terrace and around the wonderful pool. Gocek is perfect if you are looking for a chilled out relaxing experience, fabulous restaurants and very friendly locals (with no hard sell tactics). We will be back without doubt, we have found our perfect holiday destination, highly recommended.

Beautiful Villa Yasemin in lovely Gocek

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 7 (5 in the villa and 2 in the apartment) had a lovely 2 weeks at Yasemin in Gocek. The villa is ideal for a family with full amenities and a very large pool. The beautiful gardens around the villa and the pool added to the calmness with lemon and fig trees in abundance.Although there's no wifi the kids managed to get over that fairly quickly and every restaurant in town had wifi..It is an easy 15 - 20 min stroll downhill from the villa to the town centre and if you don't fancy a walk back then there's plenty of taxis for 10 tl (£2.50). Every restaurant we tried was good and all meals and drinks are far cheaper than UK prices. Everyone in Turkey was pleasant and genuinely welcoming. The hosts provided a very detailed welcome pack. The pool cleaner and cleaning staff that visited were pleasant and helpful. Our kids sailed at the Gocek sailing club for a few days and we had a private charter of a yacht for a day which was the highlight of the holiday, Don't forget to visit the Turkish Bath / Haman. I'd recommend both Yasemin and Gocek to everyone.

Peaceful idyll in Gocek

  • 5 of 5

We had a delightful stay here in July. Desirous of a quiet and relaxing self catering option for a couple without children, we searched owners direct for something suitable. How pleased we were with the result! The villa is spacious, clean and comfortable - outside the veranda and pool are everything you could want and more. Hilary and Tony are there with all the extra knowledge you could want and they are lovely too!
