About the property

Holiday Home in Mesnil Clinchamps, Calvados, Normandy, France - Set In Lovely Well Established Garden

A beautiful house situated in an ideal location, on the road between Saint Sever and Vire. It has two double bedrooms and a twin room. There are two bathrooms plus a separate wash room. The house is set in a lovely well established garden and boasts a fabulous 1920s Art Deco circular conservatory, all with original features. The house has been tastefully modernised and all care has been taken to take it back to its original splendour of a Masters House (Maison du Maitre).

About Eleanor Horne

We are a couple from Stoke on Trent, who fell in love with everything French, particularly the relaxed lifestyle. We have enjoyed exploring the many towns and villages, and have a keen interest in the superb architecture and splendid antique furniture.

Eleanor Horne purchased this house in 2007

Why Eleanor Horne chose Calvados

We chose this location as we had friends living in the village, and they had searched a long time before settling here, so we knew it was an ideal place..

The house itself was love at first sight. It looked so grand, and had so many beautiful features, we just couldn't believe we could own such a place.

It has been a labour of love, with it's restoration on going. We hope that you will enjoy the house as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

The village is lovely, with many places in close proximity.

It has a nice little bar/restaurant.

Fabulous riding school across the road, called "Le Renarderie" highly recommended.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is a beautiful property, full of character and style, with great facilities and equipment. It is a great sized house for a family stay, with lots of room in the living room and kitchen and the bedrooms are all a good size - our children loved sleeping in the attic room. As we rented the house in April, we did not make full use of the outdoor area or conservatory dining room, but these would be fantastic to use in the warmer weather. There are lovely places to visit in this area, within a one hour drive and closer. We loved staying in this property, would thoroughly recommend it and will return for another holiday.

Wonderful week at Maison De Maitre

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely holiday at Maison De Maitre. Eleanor was a great host. She gave us plenty of ideas where to go and what to see. And replies were very quickly during the email correspondances. Even the welcoming when we arrived very late in the everning was so delightful.

The house has plenty of rooms, which were big and clean.

The style is romantic , country and fits perfectly with the house and the surroundings.

The whole house was so finely decorated and lots of fine details - and a bit kitschy in between. But so beautiful and cozy.

The garden was nice too with sheeps as neighbours - but also a busy road which might be bothering for some by the noise.

Further down the road there were more sheeps, chickens and horses.

The neighbour across the street gave us vegetables from his garden a couple of times.

We would absolutely recommend a holiday spent in this lovely house.
