Beautiful old property, great location, spacious gardens, owners very welcoming

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at L'Hibou, exploring the Dordogne region about which we had heard so much. David and Sharon welcomed us when we first arrived and were available to sort out any problems - which there weren't any reallly. The house is lovely, very old I think. The gardens were fantastic and we were able to play many a game of hide and seek. We also saw rabbits in the garden. There's a pool and a barbeque as well. The house is one of a very few which are very rural, so lots of nice walks and a wood with burn running through it at the back, and safe for kids to run around. Local shops and amenities a short drive away, and some wonderful things to visit nearby - I recommend the cave at Villars and the river cruise on the Dordogne, as well as the velorail nearby (if you're fit)! Overall, we had a lovely stay, and would definitely stay in L'Hibou if we were to visit the region again.

Thank you Sharon and David.

Visit Review- Family Kellogg

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the gite ! The pool was large and clean and the children loved it ! The gite had all of the facilities required, was clean, private and VERY quite for those looking to 'get away from the rate race'. The local town had everything we required and the local tourist board was VERY helpful and REALLY ensured we got the most of our visit !

From the Owner

The houses are located between Limoges and Perigueux, two of the larger cities in the area. There are many man made beaches in the area, some with lifeguards, pedallos cafes etc. These feel safer than sea beaches as there is no tide or currents to worry about. There are many places to visit, chateaux, caves, museums, pretty villages and markets. Sporting activities include cycling, horse riding, water skiing, canoeing, golf and fishing. Restaurants and cafes in the area offer excellent food at very easonable prices.
