About Judy Crombie

Villa Meliha is owned by the McGrigor family. Judy (teacher) and Alastair (lawyer) fell in love with Dalyan when they went out to visit friends who have a villa there in 2006. They were so smitten with the charms of Dalyan that they put down a deposit on a plot of land and built their dream villa in a pretty orange grove between Dalyan and the Iztuzu (turtle) beach. The McGrigors have 2 sons - Matt (25) and Craig (22) who have brought their friends out for some great summer holidays and Judy enjoys bringing a gang of girlfriends to the villa for the ultimate chill out holiday in the late spring. The McGrigors enjoy visiting the villa out of season when Dalyan is a bit cooler as there is some great hiking and biking and also they have made lots of friends, both villa owners and locals.

Judy Crombie purchased this villa in 2006

Why Judy Crombie chose Ortaca

We arrived in Dalyan one early evening in August 06 and before our feet touched the ground we were whisked off to the riverside Sahil restaurant where the magic began. The view of the illuminated rock tombs carved into the cliff face, surrounded by the starlit skies took our breath away. As we dined by the waters edge, river boats chugged passed and another, a solar powered one simply glided by. Kemal treated us to such warm hospitality that night that we felt like old friends towards the end of the evening. It was to be one of many enchanting evenings in Dalyan.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Returned again for a wonderful stay at Villa Meliha (my 10th year!)

Words can not describe what a wonderful peaceful location this is. Its a garden of Eden yet not too far away from civilisation.

The pool/garden area is a great place for a chill with a book and you are surrounded by fields and orchards so it does feel really private.

There is always a lovely breeze from the sea too so you never feel overheated. The Villa itself is very light and spacious and you can let the breeze flow through the house to keep you cool.

The real WOW factor is the view from the upstairs balcony (the open plan living/dining/kitchen area) a stunning 200 degree panorama looking over towards the rock tombs.

It is a veritable nature lovers paradise too and you have a great view of the resident storks when is season.

Can not wait for my return visit in May/June 2018 ! Count me in!

Special interest holidays:

Belly dancing holidays, meditation, creative writing/song-writing, Turkish cookery. A full range of activities and interests can be provided by Oruc travel who manage the villa for us. We have extensive details about special interests on our website.

In addition, the villa is available as a winter let if you feel that one or two weeks are not enough to sample all that the region has to offer. In the winter season montly rates are similar to weekly rates in the high season. If our villa is already booked we are able to offer you a range of other villas of different sizes and locations. Please contact us for more information.

Iztuzu is world famous for its natural beauty and turtle nesting. Being a preservation and protected area it is totally unspoilt and non-commercialised. By car it is a 10 minute drive. There is also a mini bus service from the village but the best way to the beach is by river boat taxi which takes 30 minutes but it is well worth it as you travel along the meandering river delta through the reed beds and you can spot a host of wildlife.

Dalaman is 30 minutes away and we can organise transfers for you with Oruc travel. Local taxis are very good too for getting around in Dalyan and some of the restaurants will even collect you.

Dalyan is a 5 minute journey by car. Orteca the nearest town is 20 minutes away, Fethiye and Oludeniz and Gocek marina are 45-50 minutes away. In the opposite direction Marmaris is about the same distance and Rhodes can be accessed from here by ferry.

Further Details:

Dalyan lies on the edge of the Dalyan Canal which joins the large inland Koycegiz lake with the Aegean/Mediterranean Sea at the point of the famous Iztuzu (Turtle) Beach where the Loggerhead Turtles lay their eggs each summer. Across from the river from the town are the Lycian Rock Tombs carved into the cliff face, slightly further downstream is the ancient city of Kaunos, just a few of the local historic attractions. Dalyan is also an ideal location for exploring the local coast line, with its own shallow child friendly beach and with many secluded bays nearby such as the snorkeling havens of Ekincik and Asi Bays. Nearby is also the sailing town of Gocek from where you can enjoy a day spent exploring the 12-Islands of Fethiye Bay.
