Overview

Property

Updated: 20-Oct-2016
Villa in Begur, Costa Brava - Peaceful Location. Walk to the Village of Begur and Bay of Sa Tuna

Villa La Veleta has classic Mediterranean architecture on two levels and a stone tower. Large French windows from the living room, dining room and kitchen allow plenty of light and panoramic views of the sea. A wide terrace for dining and relaxing wraps around two sides of the villa.

Three bedrooms and three baths are on the lower level. Patio doors open onto a terrace with access to the garden and pool.

An additional single bed is in the tower.

The large and private garden has mature plants, a lawn, and a private pool with tiled surround, Roman stairs, and lounge chairs. A marked hiking path just outside the gate leads up to Begur (10 min. walk) or down to Sa Tuna Bay (20 min. walk). Several nearby beaches including Sa Tuna, Sa Riera, and Aiguablava have sheltered coves, beach side restaurants, breathtaking views, and numerous walking trails.

About the Owner

Our family loves to travel and we especially love Spain. We rented a villa near Begur on the Costa Brava many years ago and fell in love with the landscape, beaches, food, wine, and people. We also fell in love with the villa. After returning to Begur several times, we had an opportunity to buy the first villa we had rented. We hope that you will enjoy your stay in comfort and happiness.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We had a fantastic week here at Villa La Veleta. Your villa is a wonderful combination of original charm and contemporary additions. We were very impressed with how well equipped the house is! The gardens and views are gorgeous. Our boys enjoyed the pool and a few golf courses. We love this area and hope to be back soon." Sheena and Clive, Alex and Sarah.

"The kitchen was perfectly equipped. We had everything we wanted and needed for our holiday. We would recommend the villa to anyone wanting to take a holiday in this beautiful area of Spain." Ruth and Luigi.

"The quality of the property, the views, etc. were all fantastic. The new furniture and kitchen all look great. We would love to return and we would definitely recommend the villa to friends and family." Christina and Buster.

perfect place to relax and recharge

  • 5 of 5

The property is beautifully maintained and spacious - we had 2 families, all ages staying and this gave us all space - great value for money. The landscaping of the garden has made it the perfect place to go to unwind - we had amazing weather - no clouds in 7 days - so the pool was a great place to sit and keep cool. Lovely bedrooms with more than enough bathrooms and from the main bedroom you can watch the sunrise over the Med. Very well equipped kitchen and a fantastic barbecue. We especially loved the pantry - where others had kindly left a great range of sauces, spices etc. The renovation of the house and garden was clearly a labour of love .. and it has paid off very well.

Lovely area - amazing beaches (get there by 9.15 and you will have no problem parking) - too hot for us to do coastal walks I am afraid.

We had a lovely visit to Pal .. catch the wine festival there at the end of August .. and in September catch the Begur Cuban festival. Only an hour's drive from Girona and if you want to take back ceramics you can buy as many tagines and dishes as you could wish for in Bisbal. Market day on Wednesday was great fun in Begur - lovely local produce

Would thoroughly recommend to others of all ages ..if you have small children be aware the pool is not fenced off. there is shade throughout the day.

Found advice from the manager really helpful - especially with respect to supermarkets. Avoid driving through the middle of Begur .. it is an easy walk so you don't have to park there anyway.

Delightful house in stunning location

  • 5 of 5

A fantastic, spacious property, with gorgeous pool and large garden and a to-die-for terrace overlooking Sa Tuna cove. The house was beautifully appointed, wonderfully comfortable, and with every facility one could expect. The owners and their agent in Begur were lovely people to deal with too. Our kids loved having the space to play and explore and the bedroom in the tower was in great demand (in the end they took turns!). Begur is an easy 10 minute walk away, Sa Tuna about half an hour down the hill or 5 minutes by car. The village and the beaches had a lovely calm vibe, there are loads of great restaurants nearby, and some of the best coastal walks imaginable. The weather in March was surprisingly warm - seven sunny, and fairly calm days out of the ten we were there, Overall, a great experience!

Wonderful holiday house in a superb location

  • 5 of 5

The house, the location and Begur itself all exceeded our expectations. The house was spotlessly clean, well equipped and just beautiful. The views from the kitchen, living room and huge terrace were so special. It made cooking on holiday a real pleasure looking out at the coast, sea and horizon.

There was something for everyone here. Our 17 and 19 year old girls loved wandering though Begur looking at the shops, and sharing tapas. They were able to walk there easily in ten minutes on a signed path on the flat, and the torches left in the house meant we could all walk in to town for a meal at night. Begur is charming.

Our younger son loved snorkelling at Aiguafreda which was so easy to reach, and a great place to swim properly in the sea. We also walked to Sa Tuna which is indeed a steep walk from the house, but we found too that it was easy to park at the cove. We drove to a few other beaches and sampled other coast walks, but decided that Aiguafeda and Sa Tuna and the walk between were the loveliest, We loved eating on the front at Sa Tuna looking out over the cove, the fishing boats and the beautiful view. So; great house, great location, highly recommended.

Location

From the Owner

After traveling all over Spain for work and pleasure, we rented this property back in 2002 and loved it best. We came back in 2008 and found it for sale. Since then, we have made several improvements and enjoy exploring more every time we are at home in Begur.

Facilities

From the Owner

Our villa has a quiet location, but still walking distance to the village without being on the road. We are hikers and love the trails. We also like our sunny private pool, the incredible views from all over the house, and the large and mature garden. Many guests have told us that one of the reasons they loved the house is that it looks and feels like a real home with decoration and amenities for a proper stay rather than just another holiday rental property.
