Lovely Gite in a rural setting
About the Owner
About Karl Day
Lan Menach is owned by my English mother and father, Dennis and Christine Day. They have lived in France for over twelve years and enjoy the quite tranquility that rural Brittany has to offer. They are very friendly and helpful and always on hand to offer advice or information if required.
They can help with booking cycle hire or places to eat, shop or if you are property hunting then I'm sure they are more than happy to share their experiences. Beware my father can talk for England!!
Why Karl Day chose Guingamp area
Dennis and Christine purchased Lan Menach in a derelict state with a view to renovate the property, they finished the farmhouse in 1999 where they now live. Lan Menach Cottage was renovated in 2000 and has been a successful holiday let. Lan Menach House was completed in 2008 and was fully booked through the 2009 summer season.
The swimming pool is shared between the two properties with a wooden decked area and is secured with a fence around the perimeter.
Through the summer months we operate a Saturday to Saturday but are open minded in other seasons, we also welcome long weekend breaks.
We ask for a 20% non refundable deposit per week per gite when booking. Final payments are to be made 4 weeks before arrival.
We ask guests to arrive no earlier than 2pm on your arrival day, and to vacate by 10am on the departure day, as this allows us to prepare the gites for the next guests.
Notes on prices:
Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds. We are able to offer discounts for clients booking both cottages.

Lovely Gite in a rural setting
Absolutely lovely gite near the Abbey. Great walks near by and an amazing restaurant in the local village. The owners were really hospitable and told us about the Sunday market and local activities. Definitely worth a stay.
A lovely holiday cottage, which great friendly own
My wife and I and our 2 year old son had a week at Lan Menach house in late July 2016. The property is really lovely, and super clean. It's in a very peaceful rural location and the pool is excellent if you have children. Dennis and Christine are incredibly helpful, and even provided some extra toys for our toddler which he absolutely loved.
The location is great for exploring central Brittany, and there is a great traffic free cycling on the nearby canal. The Bon Repos Abbey is a short 5 minute drive away for coffee and beers, and the town is only a ten minute drive away for provisions plus a few restaurants. You are right in the middle of Brittany so can reach the north or south coasts in approximately 90 minutes for beaches if the weather is good.
A really lovely stay, and we would thoroughly recommend it to others.
A great find - incredibly spacious!
A great find, incredibly spacious, airy, great facilities, comfy beds, very clean, carefully renovated, and a very friendly owner next door for whom nothing was too much trouble. The swimming pool was great, just a stone's throw from the front door, clean and a good size for games, a bit of exercise or just splashing about. Very peaceful and relaxing. Highly recommended!
The best holiday home we have stayed in France
Of all the times we have spent visiting France this has to be the best because of this great little cottage. It had everything we needed, even games such as scrabble to play in the evenings. My children really enjoyed the pool which was great to cool off in when the temperature was high. The nights were a particular highlight because the absence of artificial light allowed one to really appreciate the night sky. The owners were excellent in making sure the cottage was perfectly clean and tidy for the start of our stay and were always able to offer helpful advice of what beaches to visit. We never go back tot he same place twice but we would make an exception with this cottage. Definately recommend it.
Beautiful rural location
Extremely spacious, spotless, well equipped house with colourful gardens and lovely pool set in delightful French countryside. You couldn't find a more rural property, wildlife galore. Take your binoculars. Yet only 5 minutes from village with patisserie, bank, supermarket, petrol station and charming drinking establishments. Dennis and Christine your friendly hosts ready to help with suggestions for any activity. Try the zip wires! Plenty to do within a hour in any direction, beautiful beaches, historic towns. Lots of nearby places to eat and lovely shopping in Concarneau and Dinan. Local people welcoming and patient with our broken French. Marvellous 2 weeks. Real family friendly place. We even managed to catch the Bastille day fireworks in Pontivy. Many thanks to you both.
The weather wasn't at it's best for the week we stayed but that didn't put us off as we were given a very warm welcome from Dennis and Christine who were very helpful, friendly, and made you feel at ease. Thank you Dennis for the two beach recommendations, they were stunning.
The property was very clean, well maintained, and spacious. The only slight down fall was the kitchen, if you are like us and do a lot of cooking the kitchen area for us could have been slightly bigger, as there was no room for a dishwasher.
If you are requiring a holiday where you want to relax, unwind, go for wonderful peaceful walks or cycle rides, and take in the views then this is the place for you.
If you want to go sightseeing this is a good starting point, as it's just over an hour to get to any of the coasts. You do require a car if you wish to do this.
Keep up the good work Dennis and Christine, and thank you.

Activity and Interests
The location is a great way to see many different places in Brittany, whether you head south, north or west then within an hours drive you will hit unspoilt coastline. You will also find safe sandy beaches at the Lac de Guerledan along with a variety of water-sports.
The port of St Malo is no more than 1 hour 45 mins away with the airport of Dinard and Brest only an hour 30 mins. Ryanair fly every day from Stansted and East Midlands to Dinard. With economy flights, this adds another option to perhaps fly and then hire a car.
The little village called Perret is no more than 10 mins walk, this has a small bar where you pre order your bread etc. A 20 minute walk away is a nice bar and restaurant in Bon Repos by the abbey on the Nante-Brest canal. They also have a Sunday market where you can buy food and crafts.
