About the Owner

We have owned Le Manse at St.Julien since 2004 and often holiday there with our children, grandchildren, and friends. As well as our own pool, we all love swimming in the river and canoeing - and the several restaurants within walking distance!

Guestbook comments from the owner

"..back from an excellent week at your gorgeous house. The house is extremely comfortable & had all that we could have wanted. The location is excellent and we found the village very friendly & with everything we needed" (FH, Bristol)

"Our extended family from America loved this home in St.Julien, the village was so welcoming & friendly. And it was well placed for visiting many of the historic and beautiful places in the Dordogne. The house works well, a really wonderful big kitchen and an outdoor space that works for big families. Altogether a huge success" (VF, California)

We had such a lovely time in Le Manse, the walk to the bakers in the morning, the pastis in the bar in the square in the evening, the wonderful markets in Sarlat and Souillac! We went to the caves at Lascaux, to Beynac, La Roque, Domme, Castlenaud and Rocamadour a few times, all stunning and very moving. Haven't really scratched the surface. What a wealth of history and chateaux on your doorstep! (JB )

We have just returned from a wonderful family holiday stayng at Le Manse. The house is spacious, well equipped and has the added bonus of the heated pool.

A lovely home in a quiet situation but only within 5 minutes walk from the local shops and eateries.

A perfect base to see the sights of the Dordogne.

From the Owner

We have holidayed in this area for many years and bought this house so that we could enjoy it with children, grandchildren and friends. Its position is ideal: close to the village centre and shops, and with excellent restaurants in easy walking distance.

Other attractions: prehistoric caves at Les Eyzies; Rocamadour; gardens at Manoir d'Eyrignac, Jardins de Cadiot (Carlux). Also, famous Romanesque abbey at Souillac and beautiful medieval town of Sarlat. There are many mouth watering local markets in most villages and towns, and many excellent restaurants featuring local specialities. These include goose, duck, foie gras, fish, fruit, walnuts, oil, and wines (Cahors, Pecharmant, Bergerac, Monbazillac). There are supermarkets at Sarlat, Souillac and Gourdon, as well as the local shops in the village, and farm shops at nearby Carlux and Souillac.
